co2 thoughts?

I first would like to thank everyone who has helped me with my questions up to this point. Its very much appreciated. The only thing I have learned on this sight but haven't applied yet is co2. Please school me if I'm wrong but heres my take on it. I have a 4 by 2 small tent with a carbon filter inside that creates negative pressure. So much so that the walls suck in. I think that's a good thing for odor control and fresh air being replaced rapidly. So my point is if I put a co2 tank in the tent, won't the filter suck it out so fast that its not really doing much good. I don't want to waste my money by having my basement full of co2 and not my tent. Am I right about this?

Re: co2 thoughts

Yes you're correct. You have an unsealed grow room, for CO2 optimization you want a sealed grow room.

People still run CO2 in unsealed rooms, they typically use backdraft dampers to cover the exhaust fans, and use controllers to temporarily shut off fans while CO2 is injected into the room. CO2 is heavy so it will fall onto the plant canopy if directly correctly. These controllers also monitor the CO2 levels and make adjustments as needed to maintain your desired PPM.

Re: co2 thoughts

Mrmetfan, I've incorporated a DIY CO2 setup for my current grow and my setup is very similar to yours, 2'x4'x5' grow box with exhaust fan/filter. Other than the supplemental CO2 and closing all of the lower vents to keep as much CO2 within the tent as possible, all that I needed was a thermostatic fan controller to run the exhaust only when it got too warm. The same approach would work with a tank setup, better in fact since you can regulate the CO2 much better with a tank setup.
