Clones from Kind above the cut?

Has anyone here tried the clones from “Kind above the cut”? I love the fact that they are fully organic and using living soils, but it would be nice to hear if anyone has tried them out.

I was wondering where they are located since it is not mentioned in their Contact page.

Near as I can figure is that it might be Canada. Which, if it is, then how do they get clones across the borders into the US where most of the users on this message board seem to be located.

Often regulated goods get around international shipping regulations with "hubs". Grow and ship from within each country and use private carrier like fed ex. No customs delay, no USPS regulations, no import tax, no import AG inspection, no problems.

Ordering clones is not that common on here. The few people I have talked to that started with clones got them from a local dispensary or a friend. That's why you aren't getting vary many responses. Sorry I can't help. Maybe you can search google for an impartial review.

Thanks for the feedback nonetheless 🙏

few things i see right off the bat:

they are operating in a legal grey area still. they are not a gov't licensed or approved business. everything is shipped as a "gift", which is supposed to only be between two non-commercial entities by law. how long they can operate this way and any possible legal jeopardy it may put you in is up for debate.

i would be cautious of the level of customer support considering the legal implications.

it will also depend where you live. they only ship in canada. rest of the world is off limits. it would be illegal to ship over a border, unlike seeds. they are also restricted from shipping to some cdn provinces.

prices are crazy. they are charging $250 - $300 for two clones. so not worth it. the amount of fem seed you can get for that seriously outweighs their value proposition. 2 local greenhouses sell cannabis clones for a few dollars each in spring.

there's no way to tell if their practices are actually organic. also no way to tell from the clone you receive either. let's say that it is legit: then why operate as an underground "gift" business instead of going full legal.

selection is limited and look to be in-house strains. unproven in the marketplace, but you may find other info on those strains.

there's no way to ensure the clones don't carry pests. biggest issue with any clone is what arrives with it.

if their strains were absolutely proven or legendary, and the service as they claim it may be worth your time. i would seriously wait for more info on them.

Forgot about the "hub" concept. In the US shipping with a private or common carrier still involves the same federal regulations as what the USPS has to go by.

That is a good point. I know of a couple of people who have gone to grow shops when the shop has its spring event and can pick up small potted plants or clones. More often than not the person supplying the clone is not employed by the shop.

And everything that bluter brings up applies.

Kind Above The Cut provides healthy and vigorous clones of superior genetics. We only ship to Canada. All of our clones are Breeder Cuts. We have a rigorous IPM (Integrated Pest Management) program, ensuring that all our cuttings are shipped out pest and disease free. Anyone claiming that feminized seeds provide better value does not understand the process of pheno-hunting.

Do some research before you post my friend! A quick google search with strain name and breeder (all provided on our site) will allow you to see the pedigree of these genetics. Also, regarding your comment about value (seeds vs. clones), our specimens are all Breeder Cuts, the result of painstaking and rigorous pheno-hunting which 99% of growers can’t do themselves. And even if you could, it would cost a lot more to start between 50 and 100 females from seed to pick the perfect specimen for propagation.

Don’t expect to find many reviews because we are the newer kid on the block for clones. But we have ordered clones from all the top providers here in Canada and guess what…? Ours kick ass compared to the others… more roots, fatter roots, stronger clones, pre-inoculated with beneficial bacteria and mycorrhizae.

took the bulk of my info off your site lol.

why are you hiding behind the "gift" thing?

your business model is centered on the "consultation process" to make the payment legal. your own lit stresses that is what the customer is paying for, not the clones.

that's enough of a red flag thanks.

Being the new kid on the block, take some free advice. Try not being a cocky ass hole when responding to your largest demographic. Claiming you are "kick ass" compared to others just makes you sound like a tool. Especially when you say it to people who are most likely more experienced than your growers.

No established reputation, reselling limited selection of Canadian clones, charging 50X more than the seed, and, well, your PR skills. Makes sense that we won't find many reviews from people who purchased you clones.

You can not use the national USPS anywhere because it is federally illegal. Private companies can carry the package through any state it is legal. They just can't drive or land in states that still have a ban.

if you checked even superficially at all you'd know plenty of us know about pheno hunting. there are entire years long threads on it.

Yes our clones are cut exclusively from 100% organic mother plants.

ses you. there's nothing to verify that on the other end when you receive a purchased clone. build the trust first.

fine. prove it. join up. pay the fee and sponsor some growers here for everyone to see. the board members will make the call if your ask is worth it.

lets see if you have the juice.

Free shipping, taxes included in the price advertised and a 100% money back guarantee if anyone is not absolutely satisfied (has not happened to date)!

have to verify that with someone who spilled the cash for it personally.

and again for emphasis, your "free clones and pay exorbitant amounts for consultation process" is a non starter as a business model. it's frankly suspicious. there was a dragons den show that skewered a similar scheme.

Ever heard of negative impact marketing?

ok, i'll give you they are winning on that Roy lol

Hi Sativa 1970. Point taken. We must humbly acknowledge being novices at PR. Didn’t mean to offend anyone from the community we respect! To be clear though, we have been growing and smoking for over 30 years, have worked in the hydroponic industry sector (when it was still alive) for more than five of those years including with the Advanced Nutrients team and Dr Hornby back in the day when he developed the original Big Bud using L-aminos rather then the traditional N-P-K with high P and K…so just saying… with all due respect, we are the real deal. Not sure why none of the other clone providers have tapped into the combination of using moderate amounts of IBA but relying primarily on the organics (willow water, kelp, aloe vera flakes, Fulvic Acid, fish hydrolysate and Monosilicic Acid) to do the « heavy lifting » of getting the cuttings to create more and healthier roots, while keeping the clones themselves much healthier and robust… honestly, we don’t know. 🤷 But if you spend some time on our site, we hope you’ll see that we’re trying to share our approach and methodology so that our clients, and perhaps eventually some other clone providers, can replicate the model so that we can all be growing healthier, more organic plants! As an example of our open process and knowledge sharing, on our site we refer to the fact that our clones are pre-inoculated with beneficial bacteria and mycorrhizae but we also provide the source for these and links to all of our suppliers: www.dynomyco.com, www.oathsoillife.com, MIIM Horticulture – Solutions to Maximize Plant Yield. If you’re interested in trying our genetics Sativa 1970, let us know so that we can at the very least give you a discount to properly sample the goods! Respect🙏🏻 Kind Above The Cut Team
