Cheap Plastic Box Grow

Hey Herby. Yeah the tie is from the gardening store. It came in a 5metre length for like $7. It's called twistable soft tie. The actual wire is quite a bit thicker than your average twist tie, and over all quite a thick tie. Really gentle on the girls, and being thicker holds its shape to! I also just saw a demo for using it on plastic pots, and wished I saw it earlier..

Easy LST for Plants in Plastic Pots

Good luck training

Yep. I use these as well. AND...they are re-usable.:thumb:

Good morning friends, well I dropped this misses to work at 5.30am this morning, brutal! Then I came home and have gone all 50 shades of wierd on the girls, what shall we call this? Micro-pot-scrog? Ha-ha They are so bushy and since getting their multi blade leaves they are really taking off, I feel like that is the start point of veg when they fully flip back. Gosh it has taken some time.

I'm noticing slight discoloration on some leaves, don't know if you can see on the pics, I'll take more if you can't. On one girl its starting from the tip working its way in, like a yellowing. Makes me think nitrogen def but the all have slight nute burn on the older leaves. I have only been giving the water in these new pots since they showed burnt tips. It's also week 6 on Friday. And they have had small 'claw' going on so its stumped me a bit as I've felt like they haven't needed any nutes. This wouldn't be a light factor in the yellowing as the are so short and bushy?

I still don't have the ph tester yet for the soil or water, hopefully Thursday if not next week. Would love to see what the soil is at. May be where the beginning of my problems are starting... Water!

I have that de mineralized water still, I want to give them a good flush and then a good feed with some Epsom salts as well. But I feel like I should wait till I have the ph testers? Good thinking right? Or should I just do it?

Help appreciated as always friends

Here are some bondage pics, 21 and over please, at your own discretion..

Well as you know im now pro but it might be a magnesium deficiency thats how mine started. I dont know for sure though so take my advice with a grain of salt i just remember that when my leaves started getting lighter my first thought was that my plants needed nitrogen. Other then that your girls are looking great and great job on the lst. Catch ya later bud.

About the ties, I use wire at mo, it bends n holds etc, but this stuff wasnt expensive on the website so I thought id buy it. I have to say though Id prefer it thinner

Yeah I agree they are a bit to thick for some parts, I'm using a mix of those and twist ties, really want to try the coat hanger idea when they get larger!

Yeah man just had a look you may be right there. I'll put some Epson salts in their water tomorrow. Fingers crossed!
Cheers Lex!

No prob I gotta go to the store and get some epsom salt myself lol. I hope it does the trick for ya. Peace

So went in this morning with the change I've been saving, sad I know.. and got the PH tester, with a very awkward conversation at the pet shop as I don't have or know anything about fish tanks and their water haha.

And surprise bloody suprise...

I managed to save about $80 on getting our car rego'ed this morning so I have a little play money for this afternoon.

I'm going to get a soil PH test kit, another bottle of demineralized water, some better nutes probs the 'Yates' brand for you Antarcticans.

Then I will give the soil a PH test, give the girls a good flush (2 litres each) Then a feeding of the new nutrients at half strength with ph adjusted water with added epsom salts.

Would I be wise to test the run off at any point?
Do I ph adjust the water prior to adding nutrients?
Can the PH adjuster build up in the soil, more regular flushing?

And help or advise appreciate friends

The girl are ok just showing starting signs at this point. On a happier note they loved that training yesterday. I'll do a follow up pic!!

Heh heh heh:awkward fish store conversations :)

So here's the little I personally know about pH (this won't take long :))

I like to pH test my water first (especially the first few times) -- so I know what my base line is. I don't adjust it at this point.

Then I add my nutrients into the water, then I pH test again. Then I adjust the pH to be in the range for my growing medium (for coco, it's like hydroponics, between 5.5 and 6.5). I try to make sure that my feedings cover a range of pH, from low to middle to high, so that I don't lock out any of the nutrients.

I don't test my run off, probably I should.
