Chapster's Adventure Into RDWC! Indoor 600W LED GC Scrog

that's what i was thinking Lewy, I liked the idea of being able to adjust height easily. I sure hope they get to a descent height so I can really spread them out!

My last grow that I finished harvesting last night I trained as soon as I had three nodes. Started by topping it and then retopping and retopping until I had over a dozen offshoots from her. Each one of these I used wire with rubber on it and 4 oz fishing weights and trained her to grow flat. It was sweet and no where on the whole plant was anything over 15 inches above the top of the reservoir during the whole grow. I used a scrog net but it was pretty much useless because I had her so well trained she didnt need a net. As a result I have over 500 grams of fresh buds drying now and is by far my best grow ever.
Im no pro, Im a hobbyist and there is many out there far more knowledgeable than me, but this worked for me. It worked so well for me that my next grow I am planning on trying fluxing training that a guy here on 420 named Light Addict has made some great tutorials on it. Fluxing is sorta kinda the same therory as my last grow and I want to take it a step farther in my quest to get a full pound out of one indoor plant.

I want to top them two times, I was thinking more but wasn't sure if the buds were going to get to airy. I'm more confident now hearing that you got great results with it!
Fluxing? never heard of it. Definitely gonna have to read up on it now!

That's one of my goals chopdoc, to fill up my 5x5 with one plant!

update:

They seem to be loving the nutrients. I added 7.5ml and brought the ppm to 600 It seems a little high for how young they look, although they haven't shown any signs of overfeeding. I also added ph down to 5.8.

As for topping, I was thinking of starting with the 5th node? Not really sure though. I'm not all that confident on where to start counting the nodes either.
The smaller one which has had more of a struggle with heat stress seems to be handling it a bit better now that she is getting a little bit bigger and the roots on both still look nice and healthy and white!
I cant wait to get the net on top of these girls and start training them! I hope to get most of the 5x5 filled up but for now im just hoping to make it to harvest haha

chaps take a look at The Frizz journals they are a really good read. She’s ace at mainlining and you wanna see the results she gets.....wow. You can’t help but take notice.

Good god those are some lovely looking ladies. It's amazing how they can go through so much torture and still produce such beautiful buds!

I would definetly like to try that, maybe my next grow. I think for this one I'm just going to top 1-2 times and try to fill the net, just to try and keep things as simple as I can.

Haha yeah it seems the more you beat them down the stronger they come back. I’m going to post the pics of my veg tent on Friday a week after stripping some of my plants down. They already look like they need another Defol! Are you going to take a few clones of these two plants for next round?

Can't wait to see them lewy!

I would like to, but I've never done it before and haven't read much about it. I also don't have another place to veg them before these two finish. Unless I can place the cuttings into rw cubes and water them in a germination tray? I suppose I could put them in with the others until I flip and by then have a separate place for them. If that makes sense haha. Time to start my research!

update:

Today the girls got topped! I originally did the larger one only topping at the 4th node but soon realized the smaller one I topped at the 3rd node... to keep them relatively the same I went and topped the larger one down to the 3rd node as well.

I also upped the ppm again by about a hundred to bring it to 590, they are not burning and seem to be doing just fine. Should I keep upping the ppm? is there a certain amount they can handle? am I too high already? Every time I raise the ppm they still do fine and ph and ppm all remain stable. Its hard for me to believe that they are just that hungry.

Ph- 5.9
ppm-590

Looking good Chappie. My ppm during veg is around 600/700 so I think you’ll be fine at that level. You’ll know pretty soon in hydro if they like it or not. If not just knock it back a little with plain water.

Thanks lewy, will be keeping a close eye on em.

I just wanna control everything and be so hands on haha. I'm still not used to the less maintance that comes with hydro.

I have also added my other 600w vipar to the tent. I decided to put it up now because when they start growing into the screen im going to have a much more difficult time trying to get them up.

I was also on fluence led website and see they have released their spyder 2p models and the 2i are going to be released in October! im super stoked to order the 2i, looking like it will be getting ordered in the next month. hopefully I will have it here sometime during flowering so I can try it out and see the results!

Nice super clean set up there chappie. Had a quick look on the fluence website and they have some great looking kit. Plants are coming along nicely, poised to explode.

You do have a sweet setup Chappie. I been following along with the chat about the spyder lights and am curious why? You seem to have excellent lighting already.

Looking at your grow, you said your only going to top two times. That will give you a max of 4 colas each plant.(Top once you have two, top twice you have 4) With your set up you probably can expect 100 grams of dried buds from each plants. With the spyder lights you can probably estimate around 100 grams of dried buds from each plant. From everything I read of the many forums and help sites I been to anything over 600 watts is kinda pointless unless your using CO2 and then it doesnt dramatically increase your yield much unless you do a masters job of training. Which is why I am curious why?

Thanks chop. Well I also wanted to get another tent to eventually set up a separate veg and flower tent and figured that would be a good light to add. To be honest I didn't think between the 2 lights I had was enough haha, now I know it is. Thanks for breaking it down, I will stick with my 2 lights for this grow. I definitely need to learn to relax and slow down.

Been where your at just a few months ago Chappie and I too had to relax. I been growing non stop over a year and my last grow was my first hydro. I did just like you and was constantly messing with my girl all thru 6 weeks of veg and the first two weeks of flowering. When she was almost done with stretching, that's when I relaxed.

I ran two tents for most of the last year and had the same idea, one veg, one flowering and they ended up being full grows in each tent. lol Back in late June/early July I finished up a purple kush grow and took down the second tent. My hobby was starting to turn into work and that kinda sucks. Why I am taking a few months break from growing. My seeds for my next grow arrived yesterday but they are gonna sit for a little while before I start another grow going.

Your grow is looking real good Chappie and it sounds like your learning a lot and thats always a good thing. Thats what I am doing. Been cruising all the sites reading all I can on DWC growing and training techniques.
