Ceramic Metal Halide?

Any info on these would be great.

I have always used hps and was wondering what are the benefits of a CMH? compared to hps or mh?

Re: Ceramic Metal Halide ?

Main benefit is that the CMH has a spectrum closer to natural sunlight than either MH or HPS.

Second benefit is, it's not marketed as a grow light by the manuf, so not overpriced. ~$35-$40 for a 400w bulb.

2 things though. 1. they only work with magnetic HPS ballast, NO digital, no MH. 2. 400w is the largest available at this time.

I will be using one (400w) on my next run and may scrap the 400w MH I also run to run 2 of them.

Re: Ceramic Metal Halide ?

what about the heat output of the CMH compared to a hps/mh, also is it mmore efficient (use less electricity) than hps or mh

and how much (round about price) is a digital hps ballast?

It WILL NOT work with a digital ballast. Ballast must be magnetic.

IDK about the heat. Seems I read it's a bit cooler, but not sure.

400w=400w=400w
