No no, the twine is removed. All the twine is for is to keep it tight and in shape while “curing”.
The twine is then removed and it’s wrapped in the leaf, then twine is wrapped back on it until it’s dried. Then twine comes off, bamboo pulled out.
Then it’s just light and smoke
