Catman's I Hate Winter LED Auto Grow

great update catman

Thanks welshman! :cheesygrinsmiley: crossing my fingers there's more updates to come - Maybe one advantage of auto strains is they'll just keep growing regardless of the circumstances :cheesygrinsmiley:

It has been a wicked winter so far in the east. I'm glad we don't live in Boston. We had the first whiteout I'd ever seen in our Burgh. Only lasted 15 minutes, but one of the most amazing things I had ever witnessed. I watched it roll in from the picture window in my husband's room on the sixth floor of the hospital. I put it right up there with the time we found ourselves surrounded by a bee swarm looking for a new home or the magical fairy light you get from the lunar eclipse where you can watch the eclipse in the shadows of plant leaves. What a wonderful planet we live on.

Hope your feeling better Catman.

Hope your back stays well Budworshipper - do you paint indoors or exterior or maybe portraits? you said brushes and rollers so maybe not portraits :cheesygrinsmiley:

I was thinking earlier in the week about growing our own meds. After a run or two we've made up for the cost of our equipment and are getting pretty much free cannabis, but healthier cannabis than you'd get on the street. :cheertwo:

Sorry you had to see your magic whiteout from your husbands hospital room Sweetsue - you seem to have a positive attitude with your appreciation for our natural world. The last time I got to see a total lunar eclipse my kids were quite little and I did become transfixed by the crescent shadows of the leaves on the sidewalk - It was quite magical. We all need to recognize more of that kind of knowledge :peace:

I remember knowing about the magic and wonders of the earth no matter the season as a kid. On the one hand I'm lucky to work with kids now and I get to play and see that child like wonder. On the other hand the families and children I see are quite often in crisis, and sometimes it's not so good. I'm good and strong in the office for these families, but once I get home I'm sunk.

I'm aiming for an early retirement. Something inside me knows if I get a chance to heal I can see the wonders of the world again...??

:Namaste:

See it, believe it, expect it, make it so. Kinder days are ahead Catman. How can they not be? The good you do for those families is money in the karmic bank and sooner or later it will surprise you with a bonus. :green_heart:

Oh hey Sweetsue - I get what you're saying :peace:

If I got to choose a Karmic bonus, I'd pick decent cannabis laws in my state right now. The group that wants to run a cartel here must have received a lot of negative feedback from us home growers, because now their saying they'll amend their proposal to include people can "purchase a license" to legally grow up to 4 plants.

Wonder how much the license would cost - and who they'd allow or decline

Almost Week 6

Today is supposed to be the "coldest" day this week. A minute ago when I fed the birds it was - 15 and - 25 with the wind.

The Ladies needed to be watered. I took advantage of watering time to take photos. It will be 6 Weeks Saturday. The temps are staying about 82 at the canopy and 72 down by the pots.

Pineapple express is getting pretty thin looking. She is is about 18" from mars hydro right now I switch the plants around every so often.

CC is 17 to 20" from the advanced LED. She is sort-of sparse in budsites imho compared to the others I've had. My lst didn't stick to well. Both the ladies are in cheap plastic pots from Lowes. I figured if growing in the closet worked out OK I'd invest in better pots, but I can't decide what kind due to all the good choices I've seen on here.

Anyway, the ties on the lst wouldn't hold very well because the edges of the CC pot kept giving way around the edges no matter what I tried.

Recommendations on Quality Pots always Welcome LOL

So things are OK looking I guess. They're not dead!

Cabin fever is everywhere around here - Sun is out though and the birds seem happy

:cheesygrinsmiley:

We'll see what happens next!

Coming along nicely. Those are some serious pistils on the pineapple Catman. I don't envy you the outside temps. We got down to a windchill of -20 last night in my area, west of the Alleghenys. I bet you wish you could climb in there with the girls.

I chose to go with fabric pots (7 gal. Geo Pots) and haven't regretted it. If I were to LST I would be able to do so using Velcro strips I got at Lowe's. They easily and firmly grip to the pots for training. Have you considered punching some holes around the rim of your pots to attach to?

The fabric pots do a magnificent job of air pruning the roots, which then explode with tiny feeder hairs all along the pruned root. I also have mine on a wicking reservoir of perlite and the fabric pots help the wicking process. I know my roots have filled the pot because I can see them poking through all along the bottom edges and all the way around. Not having to think about watering is refreshing and frees my time for other things. It's a big part of the success of my grow, but even without a wicking system those fabric pots are a huge advantage for my plants. I chose Geo Pots because they were a sturdier construction. The black ones are thicker than the tan, but both colors are extremely well made.

drill little holes where you want to tie to at the top of the pot :thumb:

Sweetsue, it sounds like you're living with the same sort of winter as I am over here. It's starting to snow now :peace:

My son made fabric pots for he and his wife's indoor garden [not weed] He says the soil dries out really fast in them....???

And, I don't think I can drill holes around these rims because these pots I have are just that cheap LOL!

I'd like to avoid plastic but it has to be something light so I can lift it wet so clay pots are out. I'll probably make do with these until after I quit my job and move.

I'm hoping to move to where I can have a room dedicated to a grow - not necessarily more plants but maybe keep a mother of my favorite strains, because I'd like to switch to photoperiod. Autos are good because they're smaller and quicker - but I'd like to eventually find a good quality photoperiod strain or two that is a best match for me :smokin2:

Thanks for the pot advice :cheesygrinsmiley:

Tie a string or bend a wire around the pot tight enough so it won't slip off the pot, but loose enough to tie strings to it. Then tie your buds to the string instead of the pot. If that made sense:bong:

Yeah - I can picture it - makes sense to me SweetLeef thanks! :thanks:

Looking good catman, good times are a comin ;-)

Thanks Am4zin I hope so ! :yummy:

yes fabric pots and airpots do dry out faster which is good and bad
good because they dry out faster the roots will stretch out seeking water
bad if you need time away you wont be there to water them
regular pots take longer to dry out cause moisture can only escape out of the top and the tiny holes on the bottom
as fabric and airpots can also let out moisture from the sides also
