Catman's Autoflowering LED Closet Grow - White Widow & Pineapple Express

Re: Catman's Autoflowering LED Closet Grow - White Widow and Pineapple Express

No drama at all my friend :) You asked for my opinion that's all.

Re: Catman's Autoflowering LED Closet Grow - White Widow and Pineapple Express

So, I just went with my gut - pretty much the only representation of a cannabis plant that I found on the interwebz that looked like Grace was an example of a plant in trouble.

So I stuck her in the bath tub and flushed until her ph got up to about 6. Gave a final watering with some Epsom salt - 1/2 tsp to 1/2 gal RO with enough tap to bring up that water to btw 5 and 6.

Ada just got a good watering. :cheertwo:

I raised her light so it was back to 17" above her highest point. Grace's light is 18" from her highest point.

Grace smells spicy and Ada smells stinky.

We'll see what happens next...

Re: Catman's Autoflowering LED Closet Grow - White Widow and Pineapple Express

I know the feeling man. But don't stress. For one you already have some buds on there, so if she does die.... Jah forbid... You still have some smoke. And 2, SHES NOT GONNA DIE!!!!

Wait until she dries out from the flush and then feed again. The only way to stop a deficiency is to feed more :) More leaves to feed the more nutrients needed. Plus some indica strains the leaves turn yellow around week 5 or 6 (maybe even 7 in your case) and then turn purple. From your pictures that you posted it looks like some of the leaves are turning a yellowish purple? I hope thats the case Catman. You would drool at the beauty. I did the first time... and the second... and the third.... I still drool at my plants when they turn purple to this day lol

Re: Catman's Autoflowering LED Closet Grow - White Widow and Pineapple Express

Oh that sounds beautiful! I wish I knew exactly what kind of plant she is...

My thought was possibly feeding before I went to bed...(?)...if the "lock out" has been remedied could she not benefit a feeding while she's already wet?

Pondering...

Re: Catman's Autoflowering LED Closet Grow - White Widow and Pineapple Express

Update is pretty much the same - in a certain light Grace may look a little better, certainly no worse. Both Grace and Ada seemed to perk up from their flush. I did feed Grace before bed. Her leaves are not drooping - leaves and buds look plump - just not green.

Sending good vibes to Grace!

Re: Catman's Autoflowering LED Closet Grow - White Widow and Pineapple Express

Hi Catman! I've enjoyed reading your journal and catching up - thank you for sharing! :bravo: I was curious if you are still implanting an 18/6 or 20/4 light schedule; and did you start and continue with that since the beginning or have you changed it? Your plants' development are much further along than mine are at this time frame in your grow. Mine also take longer than the norm to finish - usually about 90-100+ days and I'm on day 78. I've been growing a hybrid of AF genes from my grows over the years (original seeds date back to the early/mid 90s) and I've always had to play with the light cycle a lot during the latter half of the gro. 18 or more hours of light after the plants express sex results in stalling whispy plants and scare flowers. Dropping to 12/12 results in a bang of bud growth but then it always stalls, at which time I switch to 18/6 and they resume blooming and finish. The finnicky nature and extra long seed to finish time has always been more than compensated with good yields of potent bud (average harvest 300g/m2 dry wt. under a 400W HPS). I would really appreciate your and any other members' insight to the flowering light cycle for your autos and whether you've experienced any of the characteristics I have and implement any changes in your light cycles. Thanks again for sharing your journey! Look forward to keeping up! Cheers

Re: Catman's Autoflowering LED Closet Grow - White Widow and Pineapple Express

Thanks for stopping by colorfuldayze :cheesygrinsmiley:

I had them growing on 20/4 until I started to worry about bud development then dropped to 18/6. I just recently went back to 20/4 due to heat. It's turning winter here and I live on a hill with a lot of wind.

So, the closet stays at a better even temp on 20/4 and the plants are at about 17" from the lights. I surely cannot tell you about bud development or anything like that - this is a first for me :cheesygrinsmiley:

I hope you get it straightened out. I think Grace is just a fast mover - she's from the company Grass O Matic. Ada is slower so may end up being like what you're describing really.

Re: Catman's Autoflowering LED Closet Grow - White Widow and Pineapple Express

Hi Catman, thanks for your reply. Looking forward to watching along as your grow progresses. Your girls look really good from my perspective. Glad you got the soil flush straightened out. At 20/4 did the onset of new growth and bud sites slow/delay prompting you to go to 18/6; and since the change has the budding changed? I have always wanted to run an experiment gro using an auto strain with enough plants to have simultaneously growing crops subjected to several different lighting schedules; i.e. 3-4 plants each of 24 continuous, 20/4 cont, 18/6 cont, and then maybe a fourth one of my up and down wahoo approach lol. Since finding this great community I thought it would maybe be a good journal for a new crop I'll start in Feb. Cheers Catman!:blunt:

Re: Catman's Autoflowering LED Closet Grow - White Widow and Pineapple Express

Hey colorfuldayze - When you start your grow also start a journal and I'll follow along. Honestly have not noticed too much of a change since switching back to 20/4, but I wasn't looking for bud growth change either because I switched due to heat issues.

I would love to see a side-by-side experiment with autos and light schedules man, if you did that you'd really get my attention! I'll be a lot of folks on here would like to see the results of that grow...:cheesygrinsmiley:

Now, it seems like both ladies perked up a bit after the flush.

Right now I think I made the right decision by flushing Grace heavily to take care of any nutrient lock out and adjusting her PH up some - then feeding her what she needed while she was still damp that same night - She develops so fast I felt the need to get her some nutes she had obviously been without. If she had been closer to finish I may not have gone through all the drama - but at only day 49 I knew she (HOPEFULLY) had more bud building on her agenda.

Grace looks a bit greener this morning and is covered in trichomes on top - looks like snow. I thought it might be PM developing because of how white it looked, but upon examination with the loupe it is indeed a lot of trichome development...snow, snow, snow

If Grace is continuing to develop as quickly as she always has, I may be closer to done than I had thought...

Re: Catman's Autoflowering LED Closet Grow - White Widow and Pineapple Express

OK that's good news but forget about the days that the breeder says it will take to get done. Just forget about it! She will tell you when she's done. You want to start looking into getting a 60X magnifying glass or equivalent because soon you will need to go on trichome watch. This is how she'll tell you that she's ready.

Personally I think you did the right thing by flushing and stabilizing that PH into the good range. Keep a close eye on her and she will tell you if it worked or not although I suspect she will be thankful for the PH adjustment.

For now, concentrate on getting your hands on that 60X or better glass. Harvest should not happen without you having concrete information on your trichome development stages.

Thanks Seraphim - I agree - She will tell me when she's ready. :Namaste:

I do have a loupe and have been learning how to study trichomes. I think. Check out the photos, the last two are my attempts to use the camera with the loupe. The loupe ones are frustrating to get and are not good, but it was worth a try...

First a few regular photos of Grace's progress (she is a Tad Greener than my shitty photos indicates):

The 2 loupe photos:

She is not bright yellow, and has moved past pea green to just regular light green, which gives me some hope she'll make it through a decent flowering time frame (??)

Thanks to all of you for being here during my Help Grace is Yellow crisis LOL

:thanks:

Re: Catman's Autoflowering LED Closet Grow - White Widow and Pineapple Express

Great news all around.

She looks pretty much fine in these pictures, specially that main cola picture.

You've done very well my friend!

Re: Catman's Autoflowering LED Closet Grow - White Widow and Pineapple Express

Thanks Seraphim! Thanks for helping me out while you've been busy with your own grow/harvest! :peace:

I am impressed with the Grass O Matic line - Grace has been pretty quick and hearty besides the nutrient lock out episode, which is the feeder's (my) fault, not that of the strain. If she produces decent med results I'll definitely buy Grass O Matic seeds again. This freebie has worked out better than what I purchased...so far...

Ada is slow but steady. Her nodes are further apart than Graces. Ada suffered from a period of early over watering and colder temps. Once I removed her lower fan leaves she dried out and took off. IDK how much this would affect her final outcome, but right now I don't see how flower growth could take over between the nodes to form a bud. (??)

More on Ada later. Grace has taken all my grow energy for now...!

Re: Catman's Autoflowering LED Closet Grow - White Widow and Pineapple Express

How powerful is your loupe, you know what-x? Looking through with your eye are you satisfied with how powerful it i? Did you wish you bought a more powerful one? Just curious, because I haven't purchased one yet.

Re: Catman's Autoflowering LED Closet Grow - White Widow and Pineapple Express

Colesdad: If you have the option I would suggest going with something at least 60X or better. Make sure you get the one that you can hold up to the plant and not the ones where you have to cut a sample off the plant and put it in there. You want to see the trichomes that are actually on your flowers and not so much at the ones on the leaves. (you will see ambers appear on the leaves before they show up on actual flowers)

Catman, you know, I may have one grow that I manage but I feel like I participate in your grow as well as many others here. I love this community and I want to see yours and everyone's harvest blow away expectations. I am not an expert by any means, just a disciple as well.

Re: Catman's Autoflowering LED Closet Grow - White Widow and Pineapple Express

Great photos Catman! Grace looks fantastik! Is she WWxPE or the unknown strain that was the free seed; and Ana? I also agree with you on feeding them right after the flush when they are still wet, that's what I've always done. If one flushes adequately then everything in the pot and the roots should be nearly void of everything dissolved. I figure that by the time the plant's roots are filling/have filled the container, and if you have adequate drainage that the soil/roots will dry out in almost the same amount of time (if not the same as) a regular watering/feeding event and the plant has new feed while it is recovering. Like you said 'it's already soaked and soaking it for 20 seconds more isn't going to hurt it and it won't be hungry and crying at you the next day lol. Well done sir!:high-five:
