Carestaker's - Hybrid LED / HPS Powered 4x4 - Various Strains

Great job CareStaker!

Your setup is really dialed in well. Did you do a smoke report on the THCB.2? The nugs look stellar.

Cheers

Thanks BA, they are super stinky! It's a weird strain. They test well, and then they change a bit in the cure....so I'm waiting till they have more time in the jars. I'll do a real smoke report in short order though, and will put it up here!

those are only 13 days in flower? do you measure days of flower from start of 12/12 or first sign of pistils?

Those pics were from day 13, and posted maybe a day or two later. Today, is day 20 for Panama and StrawBlue, day 19 for CC, and day 12 on the rest I believe. I count from when the plant appears to be flowering, or is making a tight apical tip, that looks more like the beginning of a bud, than a collection of leafs. This is usually after preflowers appear, and before pistils appear at the center of a bud on the apical tip. Typically, it's about 3-8 days from the flip to 12/12.

I often transition them into 12/12, over a period of a few days...with one short day, and then one long, (sometimes I do this twice) before they go full time to short day timing. I ran Panama for 2-3 of these transition cycles to build her bigger/faster, but she wasn't even sexually mature until 6/23 (first node pistil or preflower). I use this method of counting, as it more closely lines up with what the breeder's say the flowering times will be, so I just go with it. A few of these plants were not mature when they went to 12/12, so they started to flower a bit later than the norm.

do you have any experience with longer flowering length plants? 10+ weeks especially

Not on purpose. :slide:

I've got my eye on a couple of the Thai plants, grown my BAR and Dee, that look like they might change my mind on all of that. There's others here that likely have, if you want to post a question TBM, fire away, I'm sure someone will have the answer. :high-five:

lol, my first 2 strains are both more than 10wk flower and one hermied on me and ended up fertilizing the lower buds on the other because I was asleep at the wheel :) Need to grab me some NL or something for a change!

Your buds are frikken beautiful regardless BN...but after a 5 strain run, I'm totally with you - and looking forward to some familiar ladies that aren't fussy. :rasta:

Actually, all the girls right now, are pretty easy - thank you ganja!

Great details Carestaker :high-five: and beautiful pics, of healthy-happy girls :bravo:

Do you think LED panel lighting will ever catch up to HPS, as far as how fast plants grow/drink, under HPS/HID?

I see somepanel sellers, claiming they are just as powerful, I'm not sold on that quite yet,

no offense to LED grower's, just a controversial, question,

please don't justify the LED's being superior, with: a lower power bill or lower heat, or longer lasting bulbs, ignore those 3 benefits.

assume free power, free cooling & free bulb replacement w/ HID vrs LED :thanks:

Thanks CS, much appreciated. I added LED to the mix at week 2 of flower and kept both HID and LED on throughout. Next couple or few runs I'm going to do just LED on at least one girl to see how it compares.

In my opinion - LED provides a more complete and natural lighting, that will outproduce HPS, watt for watt, without question. I believe that the finished product is higher in health, taste and potency. It currently takes more panels to cover the same area, and they are more expensive to purchase, but LED is just better in every other way. :MoreNutes:

Quick update :welcome: Most of you know that I use my phone to take pictures (every single one that I've posted), but it's been on the blink as of late..... I finally got my behind in gear, and fixed it - so here are some pics of the girls. They aren't the best pics, as they are under grow lighting - I'll update them pretty soon. Thanks for following, and all of your contributions, comments and criticisms. :peace::Namaste:

Strawberry Blue, is making big golf balls, and they are stacking/growing upward. Very hardy plant, seems to just do it's thing. Drinks nutes like an indica, and is content in the corner without a prime spot under the LEDs. She's a bit of a beast, and if I grew her again, I'd Veg longer, top her 2-3 times, and let her fill in. For my style, she's an easy grow, not finicky.

WWxSK, CoocooSkunk, is my coco plant. I've likely been underfeeding her, and am not 100% on her flower date. She seems to be on track with her twin in soil, which is much smaller. She looks great, very easy to care for in coco. I guess we'll see what she does in the next couple of weeks. I really enjoy the smoke of these, great for social occasions, very manageable in public - even when blazed to the elevens.

Cotton Candy, is filling in quickly. She's very healthy, and I expect that she'll do about 3 or so. Her pistils aren't as fat as Strawblue, but she's got fatter calyxes and looks like she'll produce some nice buds.

WWxSkunk#1, DirtySkunk, has been tucked in the opposite corner as SB, and has been all but forgotten, as she's so small. I heart her cuteness.

Some groups, which Panama is front left...taking over. She's getting frosty, although these pics aren't too detailed. I gave her water and Liquid Kool Bloom at her last feed, with benes - no nutes. She seems to want a water, feed, water, schedule. She is smelling a bit like Jack, but lighter and fruitier...very nice aroma....just a hint of seriousness. :) I'm hoping that the calyx swell, and that she fattens up. She's occupying about 8 sqft of canopy, with buds everywhere, so I'm hoping for 200+

Nice update CS! Beautiful pics. I love all your plants man and the way you grow them. Panama is BIG!.

:thanks: AS! That's very kind of you to say, and very cool to hear! I Panama is a total bud factory, I hope to keep her happy!!! She's about as frosty as anything else in there, and there are some pretty heavy indicas in there. She's a blast to grow so far, and GT liked the smoke, so it's got to be good. No pressure GT. :)

F'n awesome... They are stacking up nicely...

Thanks Renegade! :high-five: I'm just grinnin' huge when I open the door. I hope they all finish on time. My timetable got moved up. All the girls need to be finished in 50 days...and some are just north of 20 days in, on a 70 day cycle. Going to :wood: for no screwups that would set them back.

:peace::Namaste:

Great pics!!! glad to be here to see you to the end!!!

Your jungle of frost looks :thedoubletake::clap::clap: great!!

LOL, I'm still smarting over my advice to let 'er veg longer ... ! 8 square feet, you say ... *mutter*

But yes, Ace Panama is a singular experience to smoke - nothing else I've had was quite like it - complex terpenes with a dreamy sort of high - feels "special" somehow - feels landrace - hard to describe. :slide:

You'll know in a few weeks! :thumb:

Sounds exactly like the KC-45! I think the best word I've found to help describe the feeling is "spiritual" but it's just complicated to explain the feelings :passitleft:
