85-86f in the pocket (I put a remote sensor in there for an hour, with the seed) Ideal temp is 77-80f...(according to google)
Thanks for bringing that up- I had no idea it got so hot in there...Hell, on top of the stove it's only 90f!
so back on top of the router she goes! (75f or so)

And now for yesterday's Update...

Sorry I didn't make it back yesterday- those "errands" turned into an all-day thing..

Just a couple things to report on today-

First, the Original Limonade Skunk isn't going to make it, so I'm calling it quits on that one:

That wire is holding her up, and one of the cotyledons is dying, so she's a goner..I gave her 4 days to do something after waiting 7 days for her to sprout, and she's just not going to do any more...


So, I'm soaking an Alaska Thunderfuck (also from the Va. seed fairy) this afternoon, hopefully, this one sprouts right-side up

So, we'll see how that one goes...

Next up- the Zkittles, which came out of the drying box today- it went in 12 days ago, so the cool temps in the garage did what I hoped they'd do! (that's twice as long as it usually takes)

This was an RH test from yesterday morning- still at 70% on day 11...

The weather warmed up a little yesterday, so it was at 68% when I tested it this morning- I usually jar them up when they reach about 67- 68%, so it was time..I'll burp the rest of the moisture out of there...

Here she is in the sun, straight outa the drying box...

She's pretty frosty, sticky and she smells great..she also stayed a little greener than they usually do

Time for a weigh in...subtract 1.2 oz. from the weight on the scale (forgot to zero the scale for the 1.2oz. pan), and you've got 4.3oz/122 grams.. after curing, it'll be about 4 oz. even, when all's said and done...(113 grams)

So that about closes the book on the 13 inch tall, 4 ounce, @Weed Seeds Express Zkittlez- she was a fun one to grow, although, her getting a little taller would have been a nice touch..

And that about does it for today!
I'll keep you posted on the ATF progress (or lack of it...)

how many times do you open the jars? And how long to leave them airing ?

I open them once a day- I use a little Ryobi shop blower (like a small leaf blower) to change the air in the jars- I usually run it for about ten seconds in each jar. If you try the blower thing, hold your hand loosely over the top of the jar while blowing air into it- or you'll end up with buds blown all over the room!

Before I started using the blower, I'd just shake 'em around and leave the lid off for ten minutes or so, once a day- as they get drier, I'll open them less often (every 2 or 3 days)
When they get to 62%, I'll drop a 62% Integra Boost packet in there to keep them there, and that's it..
*In my opinion, the Boveda packets give the cured weed a "dusty" smell, but the Boost packets don't, so I use the Boosts...

I think the semi low 'n slow drying kept the nugs "fresher" looking(and smelling) than the way I used to do it..of course, when Winter's over, so is my low 'n slow(ish) drying...

Sounds good I take it amazon will have those integras. I've never used them bovedas tbh so not sure what they're like. Its guna be hard for me to keep my hand out of the jar nvm loosly on top .

Well, you don't want to add them to the jar until your rh gets down to 62%- you don't use them to bring the rh down, they're just made to hold the rh at 62% (or whatever number you choose), I only use the 62's , but you can get 60's 59's 55's, etc...

I've used both, and the Integra packets seem to me to work just a bit better...and they don't alter the smell of your weed...
Although, my preference may be a bit biased since I just bought a 36 pack of the Integra Boost packets.They're even slightly cheaper than the Bovedas..

While I'm here...here's something I built a few days ago- you may or may not have noticed a lot of discussion about SIP's (self irrigating planters) lately- it looks like a real good idea to me, so, after reading all about it here, (Thank You, @Azimuth) I decided to make one.

3 gallon seems a bit small, and a 5 gallon bucket is a bit too tall, so I went with (2) 15 quart(14.2liter) mop buckets, which are just slightly taller and slightly wider than what I'm used to..and a bit bigger, at 3.75 gallons of soil.

I got a few pics of the process-
Here's what I started with: x 2- 14.2 liter Rubbermaid mop buckets, a Tzatziki Garlic Dip container, and a fill tube made from a super soaker that the granddaughter broke the handle off of...The dark blue color should block the light pretty well, so I don't get algae growing in the rez.

This is the top bucket with fill tube, and wicking arrangement installed, (glued in place with hot glue) which is just a Trader Joe's Tzatziki Garlic Dip container, drilled full of holes, as is the bottom of the bucket..

Lotsa little holes...There's a half-inch air gap between the top bucket and the water rez ,when the rez is "full"

Here's the bottom bucket, or reservoir, with the overflow tube installed - unfortunately, it's only going to hold 3 quarts, so I'll need to fill it pretty often once she really starts growing...but, I check her everyday anyhow, so if I have to fill the rez every day, it's not really a problem..

The finished product- 2.5 inches taller, and 3 inches wider than what I'm used to- but it should work out just fine..actually, the extra width will help with the training, too.
There may be better ways to do this, but I chose to try this one first...

A different view...kinda ugly, but I think it should do the trick. there's 4 screws holding the buckets together, so the bottom won't fall off if I lift it by the top bucket...

I also glued a "lazy Susan" swivel thingy to the bottom...and there's the float, which goes in the fill tube to indicate the water level in the rez...

And I emailed Real Growers, asking if Grow Dots will work in a SIP-
here's the response from Scotty Real:

"Hi Carcass,
That's the same way I grow. Who wants to water plants? lol. Yes growdots work great in sip buckets. Give them a try at around 1 tablespoon per gallon of soil.

Thanks, Shed- Yeah, that particular container is a little deeper than most hummus containers, and it was in the trash at just the right time...

Edit: I corrected it in my post also -hell, it's not even a Hummus container- it's "Dip"container. I don't eat either one, so I don't know the difference- and I apparently can't read, either...

Ha! It'll probably work great Azi-, but it  is unexplored territory for me, so once I get a grow in it under my belt, I'll be a bit more confident.
