Carcass' $150 Low Budget Grow 2019

Thanks, Shed- there's definitely a lot of her...

How about just 1 more jar? (it's a big one)
Big jar 2.jpg

My son's whey protein comes in these huge jars- may as well put them to use...the hygrometer in the lid helps me keep an eye on the rh ...they hold apx 3 gallons.

Thank You, Stone!
Well, today's day 3 in the dryer, so she's smelling a little grassy...but I can detect a slightly sweet onion-like smell now... 🤏

Hi,T!
I should be ready to start again as soon as this one is dry, so a week probably!
I need to clean the box up a little too, but that doesn't take long..
Should I figure on dropping a Critical Kush next Sunday?
Next Sunday is 3/3/, so it should be a lucky day for you..👍

Third time's the charm!

Here ya go, @g-one-three :

We bought a car seat for the granddaughter about 3 years ago, it came in a 24"x24"x19" box, which looked to me like the perfect size for a drying box..although,any fairly large box will do the trick..
This one sits on top of the grow box when I'm drying stuff.
1.jpg

So I rigged it up with a timer...
2.jpg

cut a few small intake holes along the bottom edges...
3.jpg

Then, I cut a 1.5" hole on the top, and mounted a small 12 volt computer blower to pull air through the box...
This blower runs very slowly on 7 volts- I don't want any turbulence in there, I just want to change the air in the box every 4 hours, and It works well for that..
A small (2") regular fan would also work, I just happened to have that little blower laying around...
sorry for the crappy pic:

I usually run the exhaust for 15 minutes every 4 or 5 hours to allow the weed to dry as slowly as possible...
The charcoal filter eliminates 99% of the odor...

That little white thing is a temperature sensor....and speaking of temperature, it was a brisk 47f in the garage this morning, which is really good if you're trying to slow dry some weed in there..:)
5.jpg

I used to make beef jerkey in a box similar to this, the only difference was that the jerkey box had a 100w incandescent bulb in there for heat..

The weed is hanging on solid copper wires, but you can use string, fishline, whatever...
There's 5 upper rows, and 3 lower rows in there, each row holds apx 10 buds.

So there it is- pretty easy to put together, with 15-20 bucks worth of parts!

Thanks for looking, and have a great Sunday👍
Thanks man, that's pretty sweet and easy to assemble. Got a couple weeks to assemble things before it's needed.

That's gonna' be a belcher not a burper! 😁
As long as it's not a farter, I'm ok with it.. :high-five:
I am going to add the punch-through hygrometer to my drying box next time
I got tired of opening the door to check the rh...
So if you're seeing 77% when it's cold it should be dryer than that when it's warm. Just a thought.
The rh goes way up during the "no fan" period, then it drops back to ambient when the fan runs-
As the weed gets drier, the rh difference between "fan off" and "fan on" becomes less and less...
If the RH is too high for the weed to dry properly out in the garage, I can just bring it into the house (since there's no stink, Mrs.C. will allow it:))
Thanks man, that's pretty sweet and easy to assemble.
You're welcome G-1-3!
Heck, if you've got an old junk computer lying around, you'll probably find
everything you need in there
(except the box.👍..)

I think the only thing I'll need is the charcoal filter.

I used to work for an HVAC company, and I had that filter leftover from my working days..when I put it on there, I didn't really expect it to do much for the smell, but it totally eliminates it!

And now, for something completely off-topic...
I just got back from the grocery store, where I found this:
2 lb artichoke.jpg

It's a big one..weighs 2 lb, they're usually about a pound...
The camera doesn't do it justice- it's as big as Nova's head- it's friggin' huge...and only 2 bucks... 🥰
And that's all- I just thought it was interesting...

They're a pain in the ass to eat, but they are yummy!

Don't drop that on your toe, especially the one that's already sore from the bud hitting it!

Good point, GDB- that one is still a bit tender....:laugh:

Do they make steel toed slip-ons?:hmmmm:

That thing would be $9 here 😂

Love the drying box, nice haul too!

Ha! I think Artichoke season is just starting so they're dirt cheap for a little while...by the end of the season they'll be 7 bucks each ...
Love the drying box, nice haul too!
Thanks, Son- It blends right in with my "cardboard" theme...😁
Yeah, there was a lot to that one..

Composite tips!! I think they're water resistant soles too!! 😂🤣

Ha! Yeah, I knew she was going to flop some once the walls weren't holding her up, but she really went for it!

Thanks so much, @Scottay!

Happy Monday to you too!

And since it's Monday, here's a little progress report on the BG41 ...
Not really much to say, she's just drying like she should..
.a little faster than I'd like, but it is what it is...

This is day 4.5, and I think she's only got 2 days to go, maybe 3...

Watching weed dry is about as exciting as watching paint dry, but it's going to be ssooo worth the wait...

...who am I kidding?
I didn't wait, I'm baked like a friggin' potato right now..:ganjamon:.in fact, I started this post an hour and a half ago, then I forgot about it till a minute ago (while I was packing another load of BG41)
....it seems to be pretty damn good weed...

Anyhow, that's all I've got today
Thanks for looking,
Keep them gardens clean and green...:peace:

Ha! Yeah, I knew she was going to flop some once the walls weren't holding her up, but she really went for it!
Clearly she was leaning heavily against the walls, as if she knew she didn't have to waste energy building strong backbones to her stems, so instead she put it all into building big sticky buds - that's a pretty good trade off! 🙂

Hey, Carcass.

It's a good sign when the smoke delays getting the smoke report completed! :ganjamon:

Clearly she was leaning heavily against the walls,
Yeah, once she found those walls she didn't work on stems much..by harvest time there was only a couple buds left in the center of the plant- everything else was either leaning on the wall, or leaning on another bud that was leaning on the wall...:)
It's a good sign when the smoke delays getting the smoke report completed!
It derailed my train of thought, that's for sure...:lot-o-toke:...I wish I could write up a smoke report like you do, mine are usually like 4 words....although, this stuff gets a 5 word review: it gets me really high...
Congrats on that massive and beautiful harvest Carcass!!!
Thanks so much, Boo!
speaking of massive, beautiful harvests..I see you've got some little ones going...they won't be little for long..💚
Testers sound great!
Ha! ...and they smoke pretty good too...👍
Looking absolutely chunkalicious!
Thank You, T!
You really picked a good one..:thanks:

Good morning C Spears 🪻

If I can wake my redemption bee, I’m gonna really try hard to make her proper sing. I think I’ve learned a bit since my last grow with you.

So we are dropping beans on the 3rd aye? And do you have what the beans called? I sent you two in the bag that identifies them lol. Mines in alfoil. Or as you guys call it, aloominum.

I’m so glad your biggest plant ever is a super smoke :ganjamon:
Thanks, HH ! Me too, because I'm going to be smokin' a lot of that one..:lot-o-toke:

Yep, the 3rd sounds good!
The Blue Gelato 41 will be dry by Friday, so Sunday will be the start of
our @Barney's Farm Critical Kush comparative grow..🌱🌱👍
I think I’ve learned a bit since my last grow with you.
Yes you have!
That first time was just sort of a practice thing anyway..
