Capt Blast Moving Indoors - A Utility Shed Perpetual

Amazing what better temps and a good watering will do. No more droopy plants ready for transplant tom. I love this habit!

On an older grow, I unplugged the timer for the hydro pump, cleaned the reservoir, refilled the reservoir, got stoned and forgot to plug in the pump timer. The girls were 6 weeks into flower and all their tops had fallen over after 12 hours of no water. All of them did recover, but it had me worried. I'm glad yours recovered.

Howdy Captain
Kind of scary looking at the gals and seeing them that thirsty. When I 1st saw the pictures, I knew they would be fine since I have seen my plants look like that many times and they always perk back up once they get a drink.

I will say your garden looks nice and healthy and very well put together :goodjob:

Now I'm fighting up & down temps in the shed (shiggityflip saw it coming), hard to get her regulated with such drastic temp changes, thanks for the compliments older grower :passitleft:

Well temps are a dropping and a chore to find the sweet spot on temps in the tents. We had 81 degrees 2 days ago and 39 tonight, burning lots of propane to say the least. Got them all transplanted 2 days ago, they seem to be ok with that, but a little slower on the growth now with a combo of transplant & drastic temp drops. Not a lot of time as 0400 hours comes around in 5 hours just wanted to post a few pics and say i'm wishing you all a healthy, happy and prosperous new year.

Got my wiring done first & new 5x5x 6.5h, next up insulation:

high ho- high ho back to work I go....:goof:

Are you putting some plumbing in there, Captain B? Running water is nice. A drain is even nicer. :thumb:

hem hawing on the plumbing WC, may go ahead and run the pipes before the insulation as I have water running all around, draining is the main problem for me @ the moment. I use rain water unless we're in a drought and have to buy distilled water so I'm used to toting gallon jugs and 5 gallon buckets of water. I'm on a well system and my water runs 7.0-7.2 ph but ppm's are 450'ish, I do cut my well water with rain water and distilled most times too. I have a nice, sink and drain I built into my potting bench I built last year, which is about 25 feet from my shed so more than likely will just stick with using it.

Rocking workbench I love it. Wow that's high ppm. I don't envy your well water. Though you will probably never have calcium issues. I would add a "rain barrel" to the outside of your shed for all you want to drain. Pump it in there and use it to water your outside garden.

Man thanks for the admiration on my potting bench, it's made life much simpler. Next I'm gonna build a big bench with just a box for mixing my dirt. Crazy thing about me is I earned a degree in agronomy in college and wound up @ sea for the last 37 years :hmmmm:, lord knows I've always had a pull between woods & waters.

Good thinking there ShiggityFlip on the disposal of waste water, I could drain straight out the side. I am working on some beds & boxes for a startup nursery down the road. I will be growing and selling some wildlife trees as supplemental income in the near and upcoming retirement years continuing my quest to make a living doing things I have a passion for. Again, good looking out, thanks for the great idea.

:Namaste:

I've a question for you guys would love your input please. I have a 5x5 tent with a 1,000 watt HPS light. At the moment I have 9 plants in there while I'm waiting on my second 600 watt to arrive wednesday. I want to flip to 12/12 in this tent as soon as my other light comes in, the 9 plants are all 13-14 inches @ thew moment and it looks crowded already. I had thought to flip my 5 Green Cracks and one Critical Kush for a total of 6 in this tent, but am wondering would it be best to just do the 5 Green Cracks?

I thought I would let the other 4 or 5 (depending on final decision in 5x5) veg for another four weeks for a total of 9 weeks veg and them flip these to 12/12. I'm going to run this other tent (4x4) a month behind the 5x5 as a second flower tent and continue to veg, young'uns and clones in closet until I can get a small tent for them. Everyone is always so darn helpful and enlightening on this site I thought it'd be the perfect place & time to get some thoughts on this. What say you friends?

PS:

Photos below in next post for some reason. These tents are really tall, like 7'4"+ so thinking width (sq. footage more compromised than height?)

I think the idea of flowering them in two different sessions would be more comfortable. In early days I tried a bunch of SOG grows with a zillion plants, then for a few years I grew (about) 9 untrained plants under each of my two 600s, ( running multiple strains, in a staggered perpetual grow) It worked fine- but it's just that much more chaotic trying to access them and shuffle plants around. Especially if there is more than one strain involved and they have different growth rates, heights, and feeding needs. I remember that it was harder to tell each plant apart - it was just a crowd. Now I veg longer and grow 4 plants per light in scrogs. I like it much better with the larger plants. I'm very well acquainted with each plant, they get more attention and it's less work overall. It feels like things slowed down a bunch.
I use rainwater as well, and haul it a short distance in buckets, or more often lately have gotten lazy and started pumping it in with a small electric pump. I did put a drain in though. I presume you're growing in soil again this time (?) and won't need to do much flushing, but for myself I like to flush plants towards the end, and also get some runoff when I water, and the drain is a wonderful thing.

Thanks Weaselcracker. If I'm understanding you correctly you are suggesting just run the 5 GC now and then the 5 Kush next? I think it better myself with 5 plants more so than 6, though I'm a bit concerned with another 4 week veg (total of 8 @ that point) on the Kush's and them being to big, guess there is always sacrifice though.

I am growing in Fox Farm's Ocean Forest soil with about 25-30% perlite added. I'm thinking a flush at the end (last 2 weeks?) will be in order. Thanks for the comeback my brother.

Not so much suggested that you do that - just saying- that's what I would do, is run the two batches seperately. I just know that I much prefer growing smaller numbers of larger plants. Everything seems to work better. I'm growing in a scrog now so vegging size is really not an issue. It seems like any plant can be tied down indefinitely, or if necessary topped and pruned. I've had plants vegging for three and four months before I could make space in the flowering room, and in the most extreme cases I just had to machete them down a bit. I don't know if you want to go that route- training, topping, lst, supercropping, etc, but it's an easy option if you need to make the plants fit your space. Another idea as a scrog alternative is to do what stage did for his plant which in Decembers POTM contest. He just placed a screen on top during late veg and during the stretch period, and removed it after the plant had settled into the shape he wanted. I'm trying it now with one of my plants- just laid a lightweight piece of wire mesh fencing on top of it. Just ideas- I think any plant is tameable.

What temps are outside? Just curious. If it's cold I would insulate under the tents or under the plants. It's my personal crusade to get people to insulate the soil. Makes plants so much happier. How long do you keep the saucers full like that? Be careful it can lead to drowned roots.

Also I would probably just flower all nine right now. They are the perfect size to fill the tent if you flip today. Squish them together in the middle. They will definitely fill the tent at harvest but that's a great thing.

Any way you go will work great. Weaselcracker is spot on with his plan too!

Wu get machete Swhearengen. ha... Thanks for confirming that WC and for making the good point of training and such no matter the veg stage... I should have had a V8 :lot-o-toke: I just got in from work and went out to check my temps, so much better, I have always been a good weatherman, lol. I'm with you on the lesser number of plants, though ShiggityFlip makes a point also on flipping the 9. Right now I can access easy enough but don't see that as the case 4 weeks down the line. If I ever do delve into the scrogosphere, I will follow your lead on an individual trellis for each pot. By the by, yours like like some fine finish carpentry work there partner.

However as I admired them this evening, I have one runt GC that I think I'm going to substitute with the biggest Kush (I'm a sucker for variety), planting 4 GC and 1 CK for a total of five. I broke down and said the hell with the power bill and ordered a 1,000 watt ballast for the 5x5.

Tonight I broke out some of that Pineapple Chunk, dammit man- kiss a fat dawg in the ass! I could just sit there for days breaking little pieces of that up for the smell alone, and the smoke, well goodnight Irene!

Thanks again my brother :passitleft:
