Cannafan's Perpetual Grow White Widow-Master Kush Reveg & More! CFL's - LED - HPS

re: Cannafan's Perpetual Grow White Widow-Master Kush Reveg and More! CFL's/LED/HPS

Well, everybody... the decision is made. I'm switching to 12/12 as of tonight. I am more than ready to get these buds on the grow!
I also did a little shopping online the other day and ordered some 5 gallon poly bag pots. So I won't need to try to adapt the recycle bags that we had discussed a while back. Can't wait for those, I'll be using them in the next grow. Bigger pot...better roots....bigger buds...we hope. LOL
Hope everyone is having a great day!

You mean, Canna, you are going to let the legions forever wonder what would happen if you waited five more days to flip? Lotta pressure! I'm just funnin' ya. My first image is of you standing by a big lever switch wearing the lab coat and goggles ready to turn Frankenstein into a monster. Go for it!

:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl: EXACTLY what I must have looked like the first time I ran my own electrical line to a new power outlet. Holding my breath at that breaker box, even though I knew it was good to go...still I just couldn't flip that switch for the longest time.
You are such a breath of laughter dude. Thank you.:)

I laughed so hard at your response I had to get a tissue... If only switching to a flowering light schedule made sparks and started a house fire - or made Frankenstein sit up and tear away his restraints...! It's a gentle and leisurely metabolic shift, unfortunately.

re: Cannafan's Perpetual Grow White Widow-Master Kush Reveg and More! CFL's/LED/HPS

I'm glad you mentioned that color change on the edges Rain, I noticed that this morning when I uploaded the pictures. I wasn't sure if it was worth mentioning or not. So, you think I should add some cal/mag to the next watering?

You guys got me laughing too. I am very excited to see the transition to flower. I have to be honest with you ProfCanna, I really would just be guessing on the Cal/mag issue. I believe it would be hard to overdo the cal/mag, but I just don't know enough to give you an answer I can stand behind. I am sure somebody more knowledgeable can chime in though :)

I'm still laughing from YOUR comment PeeJay. Ahhhh...laughter...so good for the soul. :)

And thanks Rain, I'll leave the question out there for a couple days and see what comes up. In the meantime, I'll pop around on the search threads/forums and see if I can find anything. :)

I always thought Chucky had a bit of a chemical imbalance......

Well....now you all didn't think it was going to be as simple as resetting a timer for 12/12 light schedule, didja'? LOL, noooooooo....this is my grow. It is not that simple.
I made an error when I put that shelving unit up for the seedlings and such. It was in the flower room. Seedlings can't be put on 12/12 light schedule. So, I had to move that whole unit out of the room, put in the veg room and while I was at it change the light fixture so I could get the other two girls into the flower room. Of course...now I"m ready with another timer to set for the new girls and I'll be all set!
Ha ha. The timer is an older one. The plug on it (and there's only one) does not accommodate the newer plug ends, wide on one and narrow on the other plug. So I had to search the garage to find an adapter that would work, and managed to find one. Then I had to get another light fixture going for the one male plant I have in the veg room, because I'm not sure what to do with it yet.
So, ...I am finally on 12/12 with those girls.
Here's some pics, updates really:
This is the two just added to the flower room. I'll be lowering that light fixture to get closer to the plants. I am still unsure of the sex on the one on the left. Hopefully the new light schedule will force that soon!

Here is the lonely male, his future is still unknown. He sure is a good looking fellow:

These clones seem to be doing quite well. I'm probably going to put them in pots over the weekend.

One of the clones here is not doing well, but it wasn't doing well when I put it in the cup either. Will have to hope for the best.

And unfortunately a funeral will be held for cww1, she will not root and is pretty much "dead in the water":

Cww4's leaves have begun standing straight up, was sick for a while and no roots...but it has two roots on it now. Will hope for the best:

Aww Cannafan, he IS a handsome fellow  The girls are looking very nice....a shame about the clone :(

re: Cannafan's Perpetual Grow White Widow-Master Kush Reveg and More! CFL's/LED/HPS

Nice update as per usual Professa! That male is a hunk, a regular Tatum Channing. I love his leaf structure. I would love to see an update of his 'male' evolution, as I have never seen a male plant in person. Sometimes with my bubble cloner if I get leaves that are drooping, I cut off more leaf material and they seem to perk up quite quickly. I have also heard of people re-cutting stems in some situations, although I have never tried it. I hope you are having a great weekend so far :)

Everything is looking good and healthy, bummer about the clones and the Male, however at least you could use the male.
Have fun and Enjoy. :Namaste:

Dyold,
it is.....hmmm....I look at it as a circle. Inside the circle seems cramped and controlled with one mind that doesn't develop new thoughts. There are no doors for other thoughts to enter, it is trapped within itself. I like being outside of the circle...freedom to go, to do, to think on my own.................
Bet you weren't counting on that kind of answer. :biglaugh:
I'll head over to your grow and see what you're up to.

re: Cannafan's Perpetual Grow White Widow-Master Kush Reveg and More! CFL's/LED/HPS

Just a note everybody, on my most recent pics. I stated that I added the two "girls" to the flower room, they aren't confirmed as two yet. There is one that hasn't shown female signs yet. I'm just trying to stay positive and think of them both as girls. :-)
The lonely male could very well have company soon. Have to wait and see.

Rainstacks,
Tatum Channing?......yeah, I'll go with that!
I will be taking photos of the progresses on the male plant. I am very curious myself to observe how it evolves. I also want the seeds. LOL It is well away from the flower room, and I have two lab coats, will change from one to the other as I work so I don't carry anything from "him" to the girls.

I did recut stems on the clones, 3 of those that I recut did root. However the dead in the water clone had been re-cut to the point that there wasn't more than about a 3/4" stem left. I didn't think it would make it.
The leaves on the other one aren't drooping, they are doing the exact opposite. I'm going to trim off a few leaves when I can go down there this morning and see if that helps bring her back to healthy looking. Thanks!

And you inquired on

Now this mornings activities here are all Rainstacks fault!!
I simply went down to cut a couple of leaves off the clone we discussed....and wound up putting a SCRoG screen up for the other two plants. Only took me about 20 minutes. Thanks for the unintentional nudge, Rain. :cheesygrinsmiley:

I will add some string to separate the squares a bit more later. :-)

V-ger....seeks answers from the creator....
Top dressing...what is it, why is it, what do you use for it, when do you apply it?
(go ahead and make me laugh now PeeJay)

There are so many members who speak of "top dressing" their plants. I'm looking to understand it if any of you can help there, or refer me to a thread that has someone who explains it.
Thanks a bunch!

re: Cannafan's Perpetual Grow White Widow-Master Kush Reveg and More! CFL's/LED/HPS

Top dressing is feeding the plants from the top - sort of. Think about it like this - if you are using liquid ferts they run into the soil with the water they're mixed with. When you top dress, you put nutrient dense material on top of the soil. When you water, the water washes some of the good stuff in. I did a little top-dressing this week with some worm castings, a little high phosphorous Indonesian guano, and some yum-yum mix. I just scratched it into the top inch or so of soil with a seldom used carving fork.

Many of the things folks use to make teas can also be used to top dress: compost, rock dusts, guano, castings. etc. The idea is that when you water, you gradually wash snacks deep down into the soil to feed the plants. There is some logic to top dressing. If a bird takes a dump it falls from the sky. It lands on the soil and gets washed in by rain. In the forest, leaves and stuff that compost land on top of the soil. As it rains it washes the nutrients deeper and deeper into the soil.

In an outdoor garden, top dressing often serves two purposes - it feeds the plant from above and can also help hold in moisture. A layer of composted mulch around the top of the plant feeds it continuously, and prevents evaporation from the soil.

I would say the down-side to top dressing is it makes it difficult to know exactly how much of what you're feeding the plants and their microbial sisterhood. But, when you look out past the property line and see all the stuff growing there, it is all fed by top dressing, and not by chelated liquid fertilizers.

Excellent PeeJay! Exactly what I was looking for. This bat guano and a couple other freebies from the hydro shop are going to come in useful at some point after all. I didn't want to mix my guano with the soil mix because I've read too many posts where it was just too hot for the soil. :thanks:

Hmmm.......
sorry I just have to say it...:smokin2:.............

.....So, if I had let one of those Turkeys in the tree with me that night dump on my head....I would be top dressed....but I would have my nutrients. :biglaugh:
