Cannafan's Perpetual Grow - Where Everything Changes - Autos - Photos - Seeds & More!

Re: Cannafan's Perpetual Grow - Where Everything Changes - Autos - Photos - Seeds & M

Loving this picture in particular. That lovely high brix sheen to the leaves makes my heart go pitter-pat.

These are in PeeJay's soil, aren't they? I need to get my no-tills up to par again or seriously consider following his lead. You guys are turning out some incredible plants in that soil.

Thanks Sue. This is in a soil mix that PeeJay helped me create with what was available here around the property. I just love it! I'm going to have to recharge some of it, that was the second run of use in the pots in those plants and I did see a little deficiency going on at the end. It's time. :)

May I ask, how do you plan to amend it?

I'm going to have to get some more Yum Yum for sure, and some peat moss. So far, everything else I still have available here. Bone meal, bat guano, blood meal, perlite, dolomite, wood chips/sawdust, and chicken poo. I have some worm poo in storage as well. That's the main ones I can think of right now.
I still have a barrel full of soil that I can use, but after another grow that will be used up as well.

Radogast, I'm sorry I completely missed your question on expanding the Scrog if I need to.
Yes, I can do that and I'm kind of thinking I will as soon as she gets into the flower room where there's space for it.

Re: Cannafan's Perpetual Grow - Where Everything Changes - Autos - Photos - Seeds & M

I don't think Lil' Purp is going to get a whole lot taller than what she is now, so I have a question.

Would it hurt or help to snip off a couple larger fan leaves to get more light in the center of her? I do it with photo's but not sure on the Autos. Her nutrients are coming from the soil, are a couple of missing fan leaves really that important right now?

Thanks!

Re: Cannafan's Perpetual Grow - Where Everything Changes - Autos - Photos - Seeds & M

Personally I try to keep most of the fan leaves in tact and open my canopy with scrog because the larger fan leaves are the predominant feeders of the soil - I generally limit my cropping to lower growth near the base of the plant and do so minimally but that's just me.

To defoliate or not to defoliate, that is the question.

The 18 inch rule, scrog, lst, top, bend, pinch...this plant does great no matter what we do to it, so have fun and play. And you don't have any problem doing that!

I clean out the lower half of growth and then defoliate about 1/3 to 1/2 fan leaves from half way through flower till they approach harvest.

Others say you can't do that....they need those leaves to feed from.

After 45 years growing this bush, I still can't tell which is best. But I don't want my buds shaded by huge fan leaves!

You tell us. Good luck. Whatever I try seems to work well! Miracle plant, if you ask me.

yup. :) i'm a non-discriminate defoliator :laughtwo: i have to agree. if there is a difference, then it must not be much.

Have you asked Atrain? I'd think a cautious defoliation shouldn't be a concern.

so true. i have mothers that are years old. i butcher things just to keep them held back lol. i guess i meant not much difference from a damaging the plant perspective. more light into the plant is always better. i don't trim any extremely stressed plants so it hasn't been an issue for me.. but yeah, if you have the time go at it like beastie says.

And to you as well Partner! :xmas: Be safe :)

Okay, I will treat this Lil' Purp just like any other photo period plant that I defol. I'm going to snip off a couple of the bigger leaves to get some light in the center and toward the lower buds.

Thanks for all of your comments!
