Was the dose administered orally? If so, her weakened condition might explain the excessive euphoria. Through the gut means most of the THC gets metabolized in the liver and you get high. Tacking, a dosing protocol on site, will offer dosing without euphoria. This sounds like something you would be wise to explore.
