Damn dude. I just bought that same shop vac. Waiting for it to come in the mail.

last time I took a clone from someone I had thrips for over a year. No more clones.
Hi Reave ...If you have the means of a separate grow area away from your main one, You could always accept the clone grow it out in the separate area, breed it either by self pollinating or from pollen from one of your breeding stud plants and save your new clones genetics in seed form to grow out clean of any bugs or disease in your main growing area. :)Waste not want not right... lol to preserving cannabis genetics! ;)

True story. I eventually got rid of them only to get aphids. Do aphids eat thrips?(Quick google says damn rights they do) Maybe those aphids were a blessing in desquise. Either way you know whats just as hard to get rid of as thrips? Aphids. And they get EVERYWHERE. I FINALLY WON. Feels good man. Im about to pop out a couple landrace strains for breeding. I accidently got the wrong seeds shiped to me(fems instead of regs) so Im looking into getting some Malawi from ace seeds. That should give me some good F1s then F2s to see wut i can doos.

Today is kind of crappy outdoors so I'm contemplating what to grow outside this year. I'm a med patient and legally allowed to grow 12 plants + 4 (everyone's personal) so 16 in all. Now I would never use 16 plants, that's way more than I need but I like to think of the varieties I can grow. As an ultimate sativa freak, and an oldtimer who remembers the pure sativas of my youth, from Mexico, Colombia, Jamaica, and the fine Himalayan Nepalese Temple Ball, I will grow some exotic mostly landrace tropical plants or crosses I've made of them and use my method of bringing them indoors placing them in front of a sunny south-facing window to finish them off, usually, they are mature by mid December at the latest, but some will finish outdoors as well. I've done this for the last three years with reasonable success.

Here are my possiblities:

Purple Satelite - It's a F1 hybrid of Oaxacan 1979, and a Nepalalese sativa,

Papua New Guinea a pure landrace sativa that's reportedly one of the best sativas that ACE seeds says they've ever seen.

Colombian Gold from world Of Seeds-supposedly pure sativa (may have a bit of indica) but the web-site says 100% pure sativa

Mango Carrot- a pure landrace sativa from Reunion Island (near Madagascar)

South African Sativa-not sure where but def has original Durban Poison, a pure South African sativa croosed with another South African Sativa

Nepal Jam -A Nepalize sativa crossed with a Jamaican sativa.

Golden Tiger X Sinai - my own cross of Thai/Malawi X Landrace sativa from the Sinai.

Kuomani-A Landrace Nepalese sativa.

And a few med hybrids that contain a mixture of newer sativa/indica hybrids.

So now I just need to figure out how many of each. Some are FEM seeds, but others are regular.

Is there anyone else out there growing outdoors and what are you going to grow this year?

Love the sounds of... Purple satellite.... and Mango carrot ,...That true oaxacan 79 in your purple satelite is hard to come by these days in its original form, would love those original genetics, You have some amazing landraces to play with thats for sure. :)

As for growing outdoors this year I am looking forward to growing some... Texada timewarp (sativa) ...and Hawaii Maui waui (sativa) and if possible breed the two together. Already started Maui waui on dwc system under led lighting till I can transfer to outside at end of may, Since Maui waui has a longer bloom stage then the timewarp strain.

Thanks, Herbie for the kind words. Oh yes, the original Texada Timewarp, I've heard it was a cross of Mexican and Colombian with some Thai thrown in but I'm not an expert, but I've heard it's a good one. The Maui Wauwi sounds pretty incredible too. That should be lots of fun. So you've already germinated your seeds. I know s guy from Van who says start your seeds on the full moon in Feb., not that I do, I prefer 1st week on April. Not sure what a dwc is, is it the deep water system?

Thanks Zembretti ... Ya I start my seeds in around feb 1st each year in a Deep water Culture system (DWC) under led grow lights in a grow tent to get a jump start in growth on my mother plants that I will take clones from for the season then by the time April swings around to plant outside they are all stronger and larger and have a better chance of survival with the type of weather we get here in Canada.. lol

the prefect vastu house mate , you lucky all that positive energy and weed :yummy: in the house.

after this pandemic my new plan A is build vastu shastra retirement bungalow(multiple grow rooms), heated greenhouse, and workshop(with car lift), few acres in counrty, hopefully creek and pond or i build it with my high hoe i buy to dig holes with when i get bored. build 9hole pitch and putt , dirtbike (oldman quads) track, few field cars for the mates to drift around my dirt circle track, and hidden fields to grow at least 100 plants.
sorry mates, lost myself in dream :lot-o-toke: dreams big .

I'll do my legal 4 , sure my mate bobby will do at least 20-30 outdoors :) do at least 8 strains, learned you get bored fast smoking same weed every day, variety is the spice of life. I'll do 2 strains (sativa) with long flower time just incase we get the perfect grow season(don't want to miss out) but bulk of plants i'll do will sept-oct for ontario grow season. I'll have to do a GG#4, blue dream, bubba kush they the most popular and already took somes clones on my winter grow for moms.

Nicely done, a good dream, we all need those. What would a vastu shastra retirement bungalow look like? You've got me intrigued.

I'm no expert on this:
Internet description:
VASTU SHASTRA is an ancient Hindu practice which tells us how to construct buildings in harmony with natural forces for the well being of an individual as well as humanity as a whole. This precious Hindu philosophy forms the the basis of the traditional Indian system of architecture. Vaastu literally means the dwelling place. The rules of Vaastu are derived from 'Vaastu Purusha' who is depicted as a man lying with his head pointing northeast, in a grid of usually 64 squares. The different parts and directions are assigned to different Gods and Guardians. The 'Vaastu Purusha' is said to be the spirit of the site. Aesthetically correct dimensions of rooms, doors windows and even the structural parts like plinth and pillars can be determined on the concept of ‘Vaastu Purusha’. Vastu Purusha is described at the end.

My version you building on grid system using using sun, magnetic north, indian gods( planet/star postions), tuning your house to work with mother nature. this in turn gives you big widows facing sun, natural heat and breezes (wind corridors), appealling room postions, appealing outside - how sun reflects , etc ....

example, kitchen:
kitchen in South-East corner or the North-East corner is advisable. stoves must face south while the drinking water should always be positioned in the North-East side. the sun emits more ultra-violet rays in the morning hours than any other time of the day, which have good effect on human body and the environment surrounding him. These rays have tendency to kill bacteria. Hence in accordance with vastu shastra for kitchen eastern side is preferable.

edited. know = no , i'm no expert. i went full opposite, weird , guess i love myself a little to much

Wow that is fascinating. The ancients knew a lot more than we give them credit for. I think if i ever had enough money to spend building a new house I would probably go for a Earth Ship like the kind Michael Reynolds builds in Taos New Mexico. Lots of room for gardening all year round. Here's an interesting look at Earthships, there's one in Alberta they show. History — Earthship Biotecture michael reynolds I like the idea of year round gardening the incorporate into the structures.

Hey Herbie, The Purple Satellite is from ACE seeds. They carry it and are working with the PS originator Vermontman. I believe he still has this line he worked from 1979 on. He called it '79 Oaxacan Skullfuck. Since it is an F1 I imagine he has the pure Oaxacan as well, so perhaps in the future they will sell it as well. Here's a link to Purple Satellite:Purple Satellite Standard

Thanks for the link! .. Always Love a good read and learning new things about the history of pure landrace strains from around the world... Like I've mentioned before right now I'm trying to source local landrace strains of each province in Canada, If you know of any landrace strains and their names from around your neck of the woods would love to hear about them... :)
