Can you clone lower budding sprouts?

I have a plant that’s supposed to be photo but may be an auto. It’s budding now, it’s not ready for that. Is it possible to clone some of lower shoots? I need to direct energy upward and try to get as much yield as possible. I was thinking if I could clone those lower shoots and manage them and get some yield off them, I’d end up with a little lemonade out of this damn lemon!

I don’t know enough to know if that was a stupid question or not?! Lol

Yes in fact the lower your branches go down on the main stem the greater the hormone that regulates rooting. So in return they root faster and easier even without hormone help. That is why plants grow primordia or those white spots that stick out on the main stem it is were new roots form.So the lower you go the easier they will take root.

Also, could you give me a brief on how I would do that? And should I just start with like 2 lower branches. There Are 2 that are kindve pissing me off, I’m wacking them.

If it’s a photo, you could just re-veg it with 24 hour light. Then you still have the plant, and can safely take cuttings.
Cuttings right now will likely die anyway without perfect conditions, then you’ve just wasted branches.
If it is an auto, you’re going to have a REAL hard time cloning it at all- and especially now that it’s into flowering.

Best of luck with that but I’d just leave it alone.

Is 20” tall at this stage really short? Can I expect much yield? I’m probably overthinking...

It will probably surprise you, and make some nice flower.
But without topping and training, it’s going to be a bit limited if it’s already flowering.

What is your lighting schedule? Did it start flowering at 18/6?
If it is an auto, you need to give it as many hours of light as possible for the max yield, so bump that shit up!

Yeah it’s 18/6. What should I run it on, and will that effect the short ones in the back?

If it started flowering at 18/6 it’s an auto, so you can put it to whatever schedule you want. Many people are liking 20/4 but you can do 24/0 if you desire.
The other plants in there, as long as you don’t want them flowering, can live on the same new schedule. They won’t flower until you go to 12/12 or close to that.
Or you could just leave it on whatever schedule you were planning on, and that one auto will only get 18/6. Not a huge loss there if you do nothing.

Yes. For sure. How long have they been flowering? Just clone normally and keep it under 18-24 hour light and it will reveg, if it’s a not a auto. If it is an auto you might as well leave it on the plant cuz by the time It roots the flower Is still trying to grow while your trying to get it to grow roots. Not a stupid ? I’m playing with grafting rn. I wonder about grafting a auto on a photoperiod root stock? How would that turn out?

Yeah I’m pretty sure it is an auto. It’s just over 8 weeks. I’ll try 20/4 here are my temp averages... will I be ok to run the lights longer without the temperature effecting them.

also since I didn’t note which strain was which when I started. Is there a way I can find out which strain I have auto seeds from? That way when I use the rest of my seeds I can treat it like an auto and not do anything to stun its growth.

I’m running Maui, LA Con, and Diesel.
