I'd like to more about your "plant blood" tasting procedure, CA. Where do you take your tasting samples from?

For sure PeeJay, here is a little more insight on that topic from my brain  I forget who/where credit needs to be given, but from what I read and took from the article was the sap/blood throughout the plant system will have a total bitter taste through later stage veg and flowering, bitterness is due to the nutrients the plant has absorbed and is now using. Now thinking back I do recall that later stage veg fan leaves used for juicing have a little bit more of a kick of grassy flavor.. makes sense the bigger and healthier the fan leaf the more juices and goodies it has absorbed. Anyways, I usually will go for the fan leaves that are more far gone than the others to try and reduce shock. But, I will definitely go down low and take a fresh nice looking leaf also and give it a taste. Usually there is small variations in taste with the lower growth having a little more watery taste, would contemplate this might be due to the lower portion of the plant getting that clean water before the tops suck it up to the top. I do try and pluck one healthier looking leaf from the top as well and make my own assumptions from the tastes between the plucked.. usually one down low and two up high on the plant and I flush accordingly, yet, I still feel after every flush the root zone is still hanging on too some of that salt build up. You will definitely notice the difference in bitterness if you taste the leaves say mid flower, and taste them throughout the flushing process. They will never completely taste like water but the more flushing the more pronounced the taste is what I am getting at.

I really like this method incorporated with checking trichs and pistils.. Yet my sage is both pistil/trich wise is ready to harvest, fan leaves are still bitter! I got her down to 50ppm right now with adding 10 gallons of ro water.. $ & water drought year in CA

I left a question on cronichemphogs page about a product called clearex which helps with the flushing process, waiting to hear back with some background info to see if this would be a good route in efforts to save some damn water, landlord asking why the water bill is so high is not good.

Here is a shot of the flushing in progress on the sage, you can see the water has a lighter yellow color, first flush it was a dark dark brown and you could literally see the salt on the bottom of the bin after I poured it out. I think I will always be a fan of flushing, saving water is definitely on the agenda.

Some trim that will get added into the hash jar
100_8277.JPG

After trim in jars, the buds on the tray still need trimming, a lot of those smaller nugs go into my hash, its easier to make them into hash then sit there and trim. A lot of us know chronic pain sucks and trimming can be very hard, time is also priceless so these smaller guys really bug me, the sampling of my homegrown did help tho :circle-of-love:

And the fruits! I jarred them to redistribute moisture and I let them sit on the herb rack over night, they are now in one 4 pint jar in the cool dark.

There are some shots for now, I am going to get in the tent and see if the little ones need some h20 :peace: CA

CA, WRT your water conservation issue, is it possible to put your runoff through your RO and reuse the water for your grow? My big concern would be the impact it would have on the RO filtration system but it should be okay to use as long as you are only using this water for growing. This could have a significant impact on your water usage.

Here is the home made Clearex solution that I mixed up

Flower Day 61

Today I mixed up the Clearex Flushing Solution suggested by Goldengoose7

in a large pot I combined:
1 gallon of distilled water
240 grams of Dextrose (Used for Beer Making)
120 grams of Sucrose (White Table Sugar)
3 grams Sodium Benzoate (as a preservative)
10 drops of Green Food Colouring

the Clearex Flushing Solution was allowed to cool and returned to the 1 gallon container.

I will use 15 millilitres per gallon of this Clearex Flushing Solution during my final flushing.

CA, WRT your water conservation issue, is it possible to put your runoff through your RO and reuse the water for your grow? My big concern would be the impact it would have on the RO filtration system but it should be okay to use as long as you are only using this water for growing. This could have a significant impact on your water usage.

The ro system I have came with a sink attachment in which I just hook up & flick the switch to divert the sink faucet water to the filters, so in regards to that I don't think I can filter that water. I'm sure it would be possible to get that water filtered again but, I would have to put out some $ for more equipment which isn't an option at the moment, plus I am running out of room around the house, feels like everything around me is growing related now  Again, not talking down on it I love my cluttered mess of growing equipment. Would be a really good option though when I am coming down to the last flushings, 10 gallons brought the ppm from 120 to 50, which isn't that big of a drop with a TON of water (compared to the rate at which my filter outputs (75gpd)). This summer is all over the news on water usage and if I am still at this residence I can not see growing a likely option for me. SUCKS! Although, I could use a different location to filter my water and just transport it back and forth. With how much I enjoy growing I think that will be a totally feasible option :) Thanks for getting me thinking a little more in depth about this aspect of my grow CH! Will have to drop by your page buddy, I have a couple time just have been very quiet, ninja like  Stay warm!!! :Namaste:

That sage look's like a solid Rock man. They are amazing CA.:thumb::Namaste:

Thanks J6k! She has taken the title as densest AND smelliest bud I have grown to date. Very pleased with this girl!
kind of scared to put these buds through a bud washing cycle with how dense they are & the high humidity we have been having.
Watching the forecast this week to try & time it right :Namaste: Stay well!

No doubt, Jimmy, they look funtastic. Thanks for the detailed tasting explanation, CA.

:thanks: Cant wait to give her a nice toke! No problem PeeJay anytime! I really appreciate the question, I am not the best at being very articulate on my posts until given a question to narrow down my thoughts! I think if I ever need a name change on the forums, It will be "Scatterbrained" :loopy:

Here is the home made Clearex solution that I mixed up

SWEET!! Thanks for stopping by and posting that KJC! Seems like I can make a ton of clearex at a serious deduction to the cost, :thumb:!!

Looking Boomtastic! That sage looks like a POTM contender for sure. Cool info about taste and nutrient levels, very cool stuff. I am going to try that for sure. I always hear people say kale, broccoli, and those dark greens are high in nutrients and those are bitter, so it makes a lot of sense to me. Keep up the great work!

Thanks much for the kind words RS! We will see about throwing her into a contest, will attempt to get some nice shots before she is culled. I am thinking notm also after a trim, these nugs are going to look mad dank :Namaste: Glad to hear you are going to give it a go! I really think it is a good technique to add to preparing for harvest, you know, just a little more peace of mind.

Okay you guys, of course, I got WAY too blazed off of the fh#1&2.. I lied.. plus I forgot to upload LOL. I said I was going to let them completely cure, way too tempting, I haven't had lemony fruity meds in some time and those jars were just calling my name. I am very impressed with the feelings I am getting. With it being a new strain I am also able to smoke a small amount to get to where I need to be. Having chronic pain constantly, sativas really aren't my favorite, but with classes and my family needing me alert and conscientious sativas are my go to throughout the day. Both of these yields seem to be a nice hybrid, They deliver a calming body high & massive head high that seems to keep me pondering and not thinking about the pain, the more I smoke the more I float away!

This is keeping my mindset that those sages are going to hopefully run a little closer to a indica hybrid for a nice night time jar o' meds :circle-of-love:

I have some pictures that I am flicking through prepping for an upload! Stay tuned :joint: CA

Here is some weird stuff I saw last night, This is a thseed HOG plant.. I thought I saw something weird and I was right!

What do you think my next moves should be with this plant.. I would say it is a hermie? Definitely going to see if that seed will pop!

I hope my Black Jack that I fertilized pops some seeds. :Namaste:

As far as the RO system, I turned my system on and it took me two days to see I needed to change the of the filter drain. I am on a well and a septic system. As such, I have pumped the septic system tanks more times than I can count. All night long I could here the purge line draining into the sink drain. I know that ~4-5 gallons of water bypass the filter for every gallon of water that flows into the pressure tank. I know that I am not "Wasting" water because as I am on a septic system, water is just returning to the aquifer after filtering through the ground. I just didn't like the sound of water flowing most of the time. I removed the purge line from the sink drain and ran the line outside to my outdoor ponds. I just have to watch to see that the ponds don't receive too high of a mineral content.

Great looking plants by the way. I am still having N- issues. I wish my plants were as green as yours. :woohoo:

SWEET!! Thanks for stopping by and posting that KJC! Seems like I can make a ton of clearex at a serious deduction to the cost, :thumb

Girls are looking great CA.

We have talked about GMO before here is a little bit about Dextrose.

Dextrose is a sugar derived from corn and a lot of the corn is genetically modified so because of that, dextrose is not suitable for organic production.
