Build Your Own LED Grow Light

Ok, so I'm looking at some kits. What band of the spectrum do I want if I want to flower and veg from the same light?

I'm not up on the spectrum of lights being used, so I'm a little in the dark on the K range of cobb I need.

Does anyone want to school me a little?
 
Growmau5 just did an excellent tutorial on this subject. I believe he was referencing the vero cobs spectrum during the video. When placed over the McCree (sp?) Chart his argument that all the 2700k offered was less green. Which as we now know offers no advantage in fact quite the opposite. 3000k does okay in veg, that's what my QBs are. I think 3500 is probably the best of both worlds, as those who opt for veg lighting will typically choose 4000k
 
I'll look that up, and watch. I'll keep the 3500K in mind, as I watch.

Then, In another video, GrowMau and GreenGene discuss the BENIFITS of Green, which leads to greater utilization of CO2, which helps in steam thickness and overall growth.
 
well, getting there. i broke a wire inside the BJB holder, cant remove, had to order another, so there is 3 more days added to this build.

As for my FireOG, Uggg, Major leaf curl.. Not enough light, cold, SMH, 104 days old, 9 days flower since flip

Are you going sans reflectors?? Like the backing board/reflector, you got going. What is the light angle on those cobbs?
 
I think your looking on the inside with the reflective tape and such. Thats the inside of my box. The outside, with the lenses, is white.
 
I was looking at the cobbs peeking through on the third pic.

Still a very nice setup.
 
dont want to highjack thread, but got scrog done, she is soooo ready for the Cob rig. I think i figured out why she looks bad. I was told with Cocoloco, to water everyday. well, it evidently dont like it. The other smaller plant, gets 5.5 PH perfect nutes, every 4 days, and looks awesome at 39 days, day 9 flower,.

Finally done,

Growmau5Puck,
345watts at wall for entire Rig at full power.
3500K- light up first hour of day, 4000k and 3500K for rent day till last hour, 3500K for last hour, GrowMau5 Puck last 5 minutes of day, then 15 minutes to end light cycle.
Love this freakin thing, Will have numbers and inside pics later probably, in a hurry tonight,..

that tall plant, was grown from the Mars300 half working light i modded, in a 40Oz container with cocoloco. I watered only when it was light as a feather, Beast, and i think its a male. which i wanted. Going to cross it with the FireOG.

something that is also cool with the way i set up my cobs is, the COBS are active cooled, and they actually blow down into the plant always keeping airflow prime. I really dont even need a fan, as long as i keep my cooling fans on 24/7. Which, probably would be a great protection from cobs not being cooled by any chance. Hummm, I might just make the fans constant with the main power switch.. ponder**

Oh dang..... I wish I was that far along into my adventure. I like the idea of cross-breeding. I love the scrog setup. I've always like the scrog idea.:slide:

Woot, timers all worked, this was a success. Perfect sun mini boxed up, and put away, to never see light again probably, smh..

yeah, scrog turned out nicely, kinda depressed on this FireOG, she stopped growing pretty much when i was told to water cocoloco everyday. I eexpected her to fill out more. Cant wait for her to be done and chopped so i can work with Girlscout or blueDream.

That is a bummer about the stunting. Hopefully, she will bounce back.

I love the look of blue dream. Do people grow strains just for looks?? I probably will.

I really want to try them all, but don't know what seedbanks are the most reliable shipping to my area.

So many strains, so little time
 
some do grow for looks, but BlueDream works great for my problems, My main mission is for coconutoil infused for my coffee.
