Buds Buddy's 1st Grow Journal

Just thought I'd pop in & say I'm feeling a little better today. I think I'm getting over the initial shock of what devastated me in the 1st place & now I have to start facing the reality of what happened. I'll tell you one thing ... having something traumatic happen that causes a total mental breakdown even for a few days is nothing I ever want to happen again.
I've never felt so helpless in my life.
Anyways, my girls are doing fine. Taking a lot longer then I expected though. I figured 70 - 80 days tops but they will take longer than that. I'm thinking it would be cheaper electric wise to grow Photo's as long as these take. Once an Auto goes past 10 weeks I start looking at it as an added electric cost. I can easily finish a Photo in 12 weeks & only have to use 12 hours of electric for 7 - 8 weeks. Just trying to figure out a cheaper, but just as productive way to do things. Mega crop is at the Top of my list.
I'll get more pics up this weekend when I do a little Tent Maintenance.
This is my first grow with MegaCrop! I have less than $20 in the nutrient and I’m in week 5 .

I've never felt so helpless in my life.

I can relate. I'm normally the rock that everyone leans on. About 8 years ago, my wife had a nervous breakdown. I took her to get evaluated and had to hear that the previous day she was sitting in a doctor's office bathroom with a jar of pills contemplating suicide. That really hit me hard. She was committed and got help. I was still a wreck, heart racing, blood pressure through the roof, didn't eat for 3 days, slept like and hour and a half over that same time frame. It wasn't a pleasant feeling. I still had to try to keep it together for the kids sake. Don't ever want to feel that way again.

Looking forward to trying it out. I'm sure I spent over $100 easy by week 5 so $20 would be a big save.

It made a believer out of me. I thought my previous nute program was pretty solid, but my results have been even better. My current jungle, Day 47 total, Day 7 after flip, is looking pretty lush.

Nice looking plants. I got a good little laugh out of the little one called Zombie Death Fuck. Never heard of it but sounds interesting. Indica or Sativa ?
Yeah, you have a real good idea of what the breakdown was like. It almost felt like I was the one who wrote what you said as that's exactly how it went. No food for 3 days & No Sleep & all the feelings you described.
Well, time to get woke up so I can get some new pics up. Everything is budding up. I just hope these buds fatten up this time. The buds on these plants seem so skinny compared to pics from my previous grows at this point. The N.L. is already getting orange hairs & I can't say much for the bud size so far.

Day 78 & got some pics to post. Yeah, 11 weeks already & still have 2-3 weeks for the next 2 to finish. Most likely even longer for the other 2. These Auto's seem to be taking forever. Usually I'm harvesting Auto's about this time. Speaking of Harvest, I'll post some pics from the AK 47 Harvest (the disappointment).............

That's it for pics. Well adding the Overdrive to replace the Big Bud was a No - No !!! Plants did not like that at all. Tips burnt. A few leaves shriveled up & died. And some of the leaves wilted a little. I ran 2 gallons of feed without the O.D. through each plant today to try to wash some of that out. I'll probably have to do that a couple times. Oh well, Another Lesson Learned. Guess it's a useless one as I doubt I'll use these nutes again. Just way too expensive. I had to go buy another 1 liter bottle of A & B today. So 2 Liters of each used already. It will be $100 just in A & B for this grow besides all the other bottles of extras I've gone through. Takes 1.5 gallons per plant just to get Run off on the 2 Big Girls. They are sucking the pots dry.

I think I might have an issue to deal with. Since I'm in Bloom I've been feeding at 6.2 pH. I checked run off for the 1st time in a week today & I got 2 plants at 4.7 pH, 1 at 5.0 pH & 1 at 5.1 pH. I'm thinking I might need to flush back up to 6.2 Run Off. Am I right ??? Or are things OK ??? Please let me know whether to Flush or not ASAP. The 2 Big Girls are going to be a bitch to do so I'll need all the time I can get.

Don't flush unless you notice problems with your plants.

You are growing in coco/perlite as I do, but use different nutrients. Just for the halibut, I checked the run off from a Cream & Cheese. It's at pH 4.43. The plant is 16 days into flower, and the nutrients going in have been at pH 6.2.

OK, downstairs I checked the other plant. It is 34 days into flower, and is getting the final ripening formulation at pH 6.2. The run off is at pH 6.52.

There is a noticeable difference in color of the run off between the two plants. The first has a very dark run off. It gets 1.5l three times per day, and there is very little run off. The second plant only gets 1/2 liter twice per day, and has a run off of close to 15%.

If you are not getting at least 10% run off, I suggest giving your plants more. I'll be doing the same for the first plant I checked.

Because of growing in Coco is why I asked. I thought it might be different for Coco. If it were soil I would have Flushed without asking till I was at 6.4. Thanks for letting me know. I think the other effects were caused by the O.D. Nute Mix I did when I ran out of Big Bud. Maybe / Maybe not, now that 2 things happened at once.

wow... I definitely don't understand coco. Glad you are there @Old Salt
I agree; it's hard to understand since there's no Buffer in Coco like there is with soil. I can't say it's like Hydro either because I think you have to be more dead on all the time. Almost like Cross Breeding Soil & Hydro & coming out with a whole new way of growing. Thank God there's some experienced Coco Growers here or I'd have things a mess ... LOL.

I'll check the low pH plant again in a few days and let you know where it's at. I normally don't check the run off. I'm in the camp that believes it's what goes in that matters, not what comes out.

It's 48 hrs later. I've watered to 35-40% run off six times since the quote, without flushing. That's a feed of 42 cups with about 15-1/2 cups of run off. The pH of the run off is now 6.33. I think we can draw a tentative conclusion that with insufficient run off in coco/perlite the pH of the run off will drop.

I haven't checked mine again; but I'm pretty much doing the same thing you are & I don't see any ill effects on my plants so I think I'm OK. I'll check it again in a few days.
I have bigger issues to worry about now. A couple days ago I kept smelling electrical so I started checking outlets. Found one in my hallway that both sides of the outlet was all melted. I replaced it & it's not getting hot anymore. But I noticed one outlet in my grow room is kind of warm also. Because of that I put my lights on Bloom Only & turned off the Veg switches so I'm now just using my red lights only. Hope they'll finish OK that way. My outlets are all cool to the touch again though & that's my main priority. It's just too much power for my house I guess. Another reason to go down in tent size & lighting .... or higher an electrician before I start another grow.
I just wish these damned things would finish already. Almost 12 weeks in & still have 2 - 3 weeks to go. I put the Red lights only on & now the plants seem to be putting out a lot more white hairs again. Not sure what to think but it looks like I have no choice but to finish this way & hope for the best. Selling these lights, well pretty much the whole set up once this grow is over & going to a smaller COB set up.
