Buds Buddy Does DWC: Critical 2.0 For The 1st Time

On to the start of the Grow. Well I couldn't find my Clear Solo Cups that fit perfectly over my red ones so for now I'm using this storage container as a Clone Dome. I'm using Root Riot Plugs that I soaked in 5.8 pH'd water & then squeezed out. I then placed 2 of the Critical 2.0 Seeds in the Plugs & 1 Northern Lights in the 3rd plug. Cut off a small piece of the bottom of the plug to cover the seed in the hole. They were Labeled & placed in the Dome on top of a Heat Mat. I'll mist the dome when lights come on later. For the next few days I'll mist & give it a couple of ml.s of water & wait for the sprout.
I'm open to any suggestions anyone may have. Once again, this is a 1st & I can use any & all the help I can get to make this successful. Thank in Advance !!!

If you mean DWC then just follow along as this is just starting out. Just waiting till I see roots coming out the plugs to put them in the DWC Buckets. This is my 1st time doing this so we can all learn together. I'll post some pics in a little while on how to make the buckets. The buckets are about $50 each if you buy them pre-made. You can make 4 of them yourself for about $60 so I went that route.
Hoping to find a U.S. seller for the Incredible Bulk seeds so I can order today & get them fast. This is something I really want to grow as I love that strain. I'm hoping I can get them within 2 weeks so I can start them in my Auto Pots. If not .... Do Si Do's would be my 2nd choice.

Well things are not going well as far as making these buckets. I can not get them to not leak around the drain plugs. The rounded side of the bucket is killing me is killing me trying to get it to seal. Looks like 4 New Buckets are going in the trash as of right now since they already have holes drilled.
I'll have to do this without the drain hoses after I go buy 4 more buckets. Wish I could see the exact parts you guys use as the stuff I bought sure isn't working. They need to just sell a kit for this to make things easy. Been looking but haven't been able to find any.
I guess if I like DWC after I try it I'll buy pre-made buckets.

Found the kits on eBay (4 for $19.95). I was looking for DWC Drain Kit. It was under DWC Site Tube / Drain Kit. Wont pop up if you just put drain kit. You have to put in site tube also. It appears my problem is with the washers / grommets or whatever those beveled type of rubber plugs are called.
My elbows are screw on with a nut on it on one side & barbed on the other end. Looks like I bought the wrong elbows too. Anybody got pictures of each part with the name of it as they sell it at Home Depot & the sizes ? I know that's asking a lot. I'm just so sick of spending money & time on things that don't work. Seems everything I do costs me 2 - 3 x's what it should because I always buy the wrong stuff when I don't have pictures to go by. Actually I just need a good clear picture of that rubber grommet piece & the size & name of it. That would solve my problem. I can't tell if there's a groove in it or what from the eBay pics. I'd order the kits but I don't think they'll get here fast enough. Here's the eBay kits. Just don't know what type of washer that is.

Yes those are the ones, i think they are just called a grommet and yes it has a groove cut in the center of it, so you push this through the hole of the pail it hard to push in will need some soap to lubricate to push in so the groove sits in on each side of the hole. As for size i'm really not sure i can't read it on my hole saw anymore and i do believe the grommet is 5/8 but can' say for sure its been sometime since i have made anymore buckets. Ive never had one leak. Not sure if all this helps or not.

Can I get away with using the orange Home Depot buckets for a week if I need to or do they have to be Black ? I'll just order the kits to make this easy.

I measured my hole saw it looks to be 13/16,the grommet overall width is about 1 inch with 1/2 hole in center, tapered on one end with a groove in the center of it, the groove would be about 1/8 deep.

The kits would be the easiest, then all you need to do is drill a hole.
That's why I asked if I could use the orange buckets. All the Black ones I drilled already. It says I have to drill a 3/4" hole. Shit ... still have to buy new buckets as I drilled 7/8 holes. So the only part I got right is the Blue Hoses ... lol. Back to the Hydro store. Think they'll take these old ones back ... Ha Ha ... Right !

Motörhead here as well but always been trucks, would love to get my hands on a 68 Merc to restore.

And I get you about “needing” to try it out. I bought a ‘05 F350 Lariat FX4 diesel in ‘08. My first diesel and wanted to know what it would do, she was governed at 100mph, didn’t stumble, just couldn’t get any more out of her without chipping it lol
I have a 53 Chevy custom panel. Im partial to trucks ( most of the time).

Welcome along Rexer, Canadadoes & Big D13. Can't wait till they sprout so we can get to the buckets. Dying to see the difference in DWC from soil.
I'm growing Wembley now, in soil and RDWC. The plants (there are4) are doing well. Stretching quite a bit. One plant in particular is stretching big time. Quite a bit fir an 80% Indica.

They are just past third week.

The soil plant is doing well but doesn't have anything close to the size of the hydro.
This plant is at 4 weeks

I usually grow both styles... not so much to see tbe differences between the two methods since im growing from seed, more to diversify a bit. Good luck

2014 Mustang GT with Coyote Motor. Other than customizing it all I've done is exhaust & CAI.
Black 08 , Silver 04, Red 94 : My old Mustangs ... some of them. I had about 5 more. The motor I built for the 94 but someone with a Fox Body seen me building it & offered me almost double what I had in it. SOLD !!!
Fuggin car guys....

I've found site tubes are a gateway for light and will start to grow the funk. I have basically the same set up on my rig, but had a terrible time with tadpoles a couple of grows back. I covered mine.

The radius on such a small buckets is screwing you. And it sounds like its at the bottom of your bucket so the bottom makes it even stiffer.. If you can find a bucket with flat sides you may have better luck, but they are rare since you need a lid. The larger the bucket, the bigger the radius, the easier it is if your using round containers. I know there are scrillions of 5 gal buckets with all sorts of things drilled onto them that don't leak, this is just what I've run into. I use bulkheads, but they are really big and would not work here.

Counter Culture will sell you nice, square buckets of various sizes, with and without holes (per David at BG Hydro). They sell bulkheads cheap, and all the rest of the crap we use. BUT, you will need your left arm and a child to pay for it. My rig is made up of two GH Rainrorest rigs repurposed, but not a smart way to go due to cost. If you are Interested. The thread My RDWC has a fairly comprehensive description of my rig

Someone probably already said this but... the orange ones aren't light proof at all. You'll have bullfrogs in no time.
