Budley's New Bud Box 3K, Watercooled, CO2, Sealed

got a little problem.... Plants have been getting more and more pale in color. Last night I dimmed down to 60%, cut the co2 and left the the box open. A visit this evening has shown marked inprovement.

I'm not sure what to make of it. For some reason my environment has become toxic. Seems to be related to the Co2. I don't know if I ramped up the co2 too fast with out enough feed to support the growth or what. I think I'll close things backup and start with atmospheric co2 levels.

the total volume of the flower box is 160 cubic feet. Keeping things in balance is going to be challanging but I did manage in a similar space.

any other Co2 users with advice?

here is my take - It's not too much light, but they are growing too fast plus it has mag def. The co2 speeds plant growth up = more yellowing. SO, I would leave the lights at 100% cut the co2 and try to find something besides epsom with mag in it and something with N. Maybe they make a liquid magnesium supplement???You could always throw a shit ton of cal mag at em. Dyna-gro has a product called mag-pro...

I neglected my SLH and its top leaves were almost yellow before I got it stopped.

I'm kind of thinking the same thing. Things didn't ramp up evenly. I also have some concern that there isn't enough volume in the box. Still do-able, just trickier.

I dimmed them down to give them a break! really nice to be able to do. I'm really pleased with the Sunlight systems digis. I got a lumitek at the same time and I am exchanging it for another SS next week. Put them back at full power this eve. I have yet to try the super lumens switch. I'm curious how it works but don't want to strike my eye or ushio with it. Would prefer to hear more about it or test it with a cheaper or spent bulb.

Update:

Things have greened up quite nicely, structure on the plants is solid. I always like to flip my timer to 12/12 on the 1st, so today starts the clock!

Plants seem to only like 800 ppm co2 so far so I may run with that for the grow. they don't look as happy when I crank it up to 1500. they also seem to like a greater deadband. I'm currently running 800 ppm with a 300 deadband. Tried holding a steady 800 but they seem to like to draw it down.

I have also been pinching ALL of the sucker branches. I topped about 12 of the 20 plants to have 4 mains. All of the plants now have 4-8 nice aggresive shoots, each are putting out almost 2 new nodes a day. Can't wait!!!

made some bubble hash for the first time. I have a trash bag compacted full of hash material. Lots of good fluff in it!

Glad you got everything sorted out. No more problems with the plants getting lighter? Like that you are using 4 colas...really opens up the plant. On my L*D I didn't trim any of the nodes off but I would have only trimmed the very first node of the individual colas...this is in hindsight.

About the bubble hash. If you only mix it for about 5 minuts it wont be green but will be a nice amber golden color depending on the resin color, the smoke will taste alot better and be much smoother...more potent too. It is also good to freeze the buds before you run them. If you wanna rerun the bud after the initial extraction for a longer period you might get some more...but for the primo bubble hash mix the frozen buds w/ the ice water for only 5 minutes.

edit**those brown paper towels/cardbord/etc will give the hash a "taste"

Ya know...I was thinking just now, with the box having such a small volume it could be possible with the co2 increasing photosynthesis that the plants are suffering oxygen poisoning or something. If it were me I would set something up to periodically vent the box. :roorrip: (im ripped)

Wow that's alot easier than 20 minutes. It is actually much more blonde than the photo. it's a camera phone and floros. but I will def try the pre-freeze 5 minute method.

But I'm still inputing co2. I do think an air exchange would be nice, but in the summer were talking 100+ degree air. then I would have to pre-cool it. blueberry is rather sensitive to high nute levels so it would make sense that it likes med. co2 as well or more likely, I don't know how to drive this thing yet. Fuse is short on everything. Gotta say though at 800 everything is Sweet! Da Nugs are coming!

A metal cooking spoon is best to use when you stir it too. Just stir VERY vigorously for 5 minutes. (the electric mixers tend to break up the plant mater...we only want the trichomes to fall off)

Wow, it all makes perfect sense. I followed the Jorge Cervantes video instructions. It is quite tasty and has a real kick! For the first time making it, I'm quite pleased with the results.

I have a years worth of shake, the last crop all of the fluff went into the hash bag as well. I'll try the 5 minute recipe next time I do it.

The night of the 2nd was their first full 12/12 cycle. I just dropped in to check on them and they have grown an inch since last night. Seems that the environment is getting dialed in. they are looking great.

Great to hear that the kinks are being worked out in the new box. So the hash was good? Also, the smaller the batch you make typically is better. ie: 1 gallon bags vs. 5 gallon bags. :ganjamon:

Man, this is a great thread. I really appreciate the stuff on the CO2.

Your setup is tits.

Plants fantastic.

Great stuff - thanks for sharing!

+Reps and 5 stars

totally cool, glad you came away with something.
One caveat: this is a very confined small space with vitrually no airflow with the outside. My past Co2 experience was much different.

I am starting to think I have been too conservative on my feed schedule. With this much light and the high concertration of co2 defeciencies show up in hours if everything isn't spot on.

Here are a few update photos. the lights were flipped the night of the 1st. Feed has been changed to bloom.

Looks like you are set to maximize your grow area.

One thing, though: You went straight to a bloom nutrient mix when you flipped the light cycle to flower? I have always had the impression that plants use quite a bit of nitrogen during the first 40% of the flowering cycle ("The Stretch").

Actually, when I say I changed over, I should say I'm changing over. I fill my rez to 20 gallons, mix and feed, there's usually about 5-10 gallons left. By the next day I have another 5 or so gallons of condensation collected in the rez, I ad 5 more from the ro rez and and mix to desired ec. So for the next week or so, I will still have some of the veg formula working itself through the system.

I did have to disconnect the runoff from my ac, which I had going back into the drippers. It is now just going back to the rez. I couldn't balance it out, just a few of the containers were getting 80% of the drip.

Last night, they were looking incredible. I'm currently running 2.3 ec and 12000ppm co2. Will be bumping it up to 1500 tonight.

Can anybody recommend a good inexpensive (100-150) digital camera? I need to pick something up soon. We can't have blurry bud porn shots now can we!
