Brix, Buds & Blades: Knifemaker420's Auto Perpetual Garden

Pretty frustrated to say the least. Almost ready to quit the kit since I cant seem to make it work even with the advice of Doc and Duggan.
Sadly..... I'd agree with you on this decision...

Nothing against "the kit" but if it ain't working in your situation.... I'd just move right on.

There are many ways to skin this cat.

I'm sorry Preston...I believe in the saying "never quit, never out of the fight!"
To quit on such a proven great system is foolish. I believe there is more to this story than we all know.
If the system is flawed,..then why do 99 growers out of 100 rave about it's virtues?
My problem with a "brix kit" stems from my personal opinion of growing...

It should be simple, and can be.

To this day, I rarely see Brix growers do anything "spectacular". Sure, good healthy plants, but that can be done with many different approaches.

I think the biggest problem I see with "the kit"... is the backhanded comments from Doc & the crew, when people ask for help..... of course, it could NEVER be the kit.

Seems like cult shit to me.... I stick with what I know works.... every time.

Just my humble opinion.... hope it doesn't ruffle feathers.

Take a look at my journal.....it is soooooo easy. Just patience and listening to advice and following that advice. As a new grower I couldn't find anything more simple.....the thing is that it is too simple for some.

This is my second Indoor grow, and first DBHBB grow. I researched a ton....read a lot of the common issues....and continue to learn more each day. I have had friendly support from 100% volunteers guiding me when I might fall off the path.

Getting frustrated is one thing, but being disrespectful is another. If it isn't working for you than just move on. Use your advanced nutes and be happy about it.

Enjoy

Preston, with respect i say , have u not seen how many peeps i have helped with the kit over these past 6, 7 yrs. I'l tell ya wat does ruffle feathers. When u make the comment about "backhanded comments made by the Doc and the 'brix' crew". That one baffles me , really. How could u say that? Did u know that Doc sent a box of 'kit' stuff to Knife at NO Charge to him. Were u aware of that little fact? Are u aware of Doc offering to help Knife with his knowledge and time thru his grow. Are u aware of Doc receiving grief from him for not "backing up' his failed delivery with another one? Please get ALL the facts before making such a damning comment , thanks . Cheers and have a good night man.

My apologies for sharing my opinion...
:(

I browse these forums for about 4-5 hours everyday. I watch, I read, and I track trends.

I watch growers killin' it, in many types of medium. One trend that I've personally noticed, brix growers are always seeking help.... and I commend you for your efforts. You're great at helping people troubleshoot.

I shoot for a method that I never have to ask shit. That's just me.

On to the "backhanded comments".... not sure anyone will convince me otherwise. I know what I read. Someone who is coming to ya with "hat in hand" looking for advice shouldn't be shamed, they need help. That's just the "commercial grower's mindset".... puff my chest out cuz "I made it & u didn't"

No thanks, I'll keep my money.

FWIW, I've caught one or more backhanded comments from Doc when questioning his methods, but I've dealt with elitism in the past when researching various topics and sometimes to get to the fruit, you just gotta eat the punches and keep on asking.

Guess I'm just the kind of guy who is never cool with taking punches....

The elitist marketing strategy will fail, especially once people have the balls to call it that.

Might need to hire a marketing specialist to handle some things.....
:hmmmm:

Are you saying there's no such thing as the best? Are you saying that every method, every soil, every grower is equal?

I'm not. Not at all. High Brix is the best. Period.

There's more than one way to get High Brix...but no matter how you arrive there, it's the best. No argument to the contrary can be made by a rational, logical person. Nutrient dense is better than nutrient sparse, in total and in degrees.

Some people need help for various reasons. I'm happy to help anyone who is willing to listen and learn. Especially learn.

The biggest frustration I have is that I have a science based education behind me, I've read a ton, audited classes at the local Ag university, tested, re-tested, studied and re-studied......and have personally grown many hundreds of spectacular plants using my gear.

When I get into "discussions" with people who don't know a cation from an anion and have no idea how plants and soil work.....who in their ignorance actually see themselves and their baked ideas as equally valid to what we KNOW from scientific research and massive amounts of testing and replication in the field.....when I run across people like that, I try to stay out of their way. That's the source of the "backhanded" comments.

You can't argue with someone whom you first need to educate.

Now, if KM can set aside the negative energy (plants hate it) and get a bit of tutoring, he'll grow the best weed he's ever had on his apprentice grow.

Watch and learn.

Hey Knife! Sorry you continue to have troubles. Your 1st plant had issues but turned out pretty nice. Advanced nutes will probably not help at this point, damage is done, roots are in bad shape so your best bet is to do a heavy trans next and "limp" to harvest. By limp, I think Doc simply meant make the best of a bad situation. It's hard to fully recover from very poor roots this late in the game. I hope you will give it the old college try but understand if you move on from the kit, just mail me all leftover product, ha!

:passitleft:

I guess I am trying to figure out what is actually happening here.....knife started using the kit and messed up for whatever reason. Then he went to Docs thread and expressed that he was frustrated and the kit wasn't working. Duggan steps up to try and help out and turn things around....but for whatever reason that is not enough, so Doc offers to start a fresh journal to apprentice knife through a complete grow. Even going as far as sending free product out to help out. All of this is still not enough.

Now we are coming to the conclusion that the kit is just overpriced trash that grows nothing spectacular and is a waste of time and money?

Is that where we are here?

Sorry I didn't see any problem from the picture, is the problem flowering slowly? :Namaste:
No, the 3 plants Ive grown in Doc's kit have all gone crispy. With help from Duggan I was able to get the first one to finish up but the second one never recovered. The third one seems like she may be coming back around.
Doc has been kind enough to offer his help on my current 4th plant in his kit and I'm hoping that with his help I can get this one to the finish line without the previous issues.

Hey knife. Very nice job on that girl! Should be a very nice yield. What sized pot, #10? I'd remove any dying leaves as time permits, if it does. It'll give you a jump start on the trim.

:passitleft:
This one is in a 5gal fabric pot.
Next one (currently 22 dwys old) I'm going to try a 7gal nursery pot when she's ready to transplant.
