British Green's 1st 420 Grow Journal

Glad to hear you enjoyed yourself BG...

Feeling much fresher today skunny my friend . I can see straight and normal conversation isn't hurting my head . I'll be up in the garden later on and I'll do a quick update . I'm also getting some chops off one of my friends which happens to be a lovely girl called general's daughter . I'm also looking into the dark side at some autos for the new year . I want a harvest every 4 weeks or so . My veg room is never ever getting switched off again . So I've got big plans for next year and I also want to go led .

Your plans sound good man, a perpetual grow is definitely the way to go & I can't say I've regretted switching to LED. Have you given it much choice as to which brand you'll go with?

I've not really looked into the branding or manufacturers of led yet . I did promise Sara Tod led/mars hydro my first order of led . But as much as I'm a man of my word and I really mean that . This time I might have to go back on it . I've always gone for the best I can afford type of guy . I'm not saying there is anything wrong with mars ( Sara is a tire star ) I want the best light I can afford . I don't like buying things twice if that makes sense . I need a light that performs as well or out performs a 600hps with digital ballast . Other wise they would be no point in swapping them . I'm not over bothered about electric use as the solar panels just about produce if electric to cover the 600 hps . I'm picking up a new car tomorrow well new to me another Audi 55plate s4 in flame red 4.2 v8 turbo . :):):):):) this is my wedding present to me and my christmas present to me and my wife's present as well all rolled into one red car . I'm no eco warrior . I can't wait for global warming to give us a decent summer .

I hear ya & as well as people do with topled I kinda wish I'd saved my pennies & not bought them. Eventually all my topleds will be replaced with Osram LED's. I'm like you & like to buy once & buy quality with the things I think are important, watch, TV, HIFI & lights :)
Fcuking hell a 4.2 v8 turbo :thedoubletake: Wicked motor mate, I bet you're buzzing your tits off. Hey, at least petrol is at a low price at the mo so you can have some fun in it. That thing'll be thirsty with a lead right foot :)

glad to hear your on the ball today mate..yeah test the dark side buddy. Have you seen any seeds you like yet??

After the test drive I know this thing can drink more juice than a small school . But under normal driving conditions it was doing 25mpg I was well surprised my s3 1.8t drinks more . I'm definitely with you on that skunny . Onkyo for my hifi . Television is not as important as music to me . The car is fully loaded with every optional extra you could think of . Brought in germany but to drive in the UK . One owner ex military guy . All service history . It's the dogs bollocks . I've been looking for the right one for a while .

My last two cars have been oil burners, Golf GTTDI 1.9 & the 330D BM, the BM is way more economical. I drive quite quick & the best I could get from the golf on good mixed roads was 35mpg, in the BM going a bit quicker I get 48mpg. I think with yours you'll find it pretty similar coz you have more power it uses less to keep you at the same speeds you drive in your old one. The bonus being there's lots of power to play with if you want to treat yourself to some new undies :) It sounds like you've got a peach mate, ex military means it'll be a pampered pooch :)
As for lights I can say this, only Osram, Phillips & some other company I can never remember have ever done any development into horticultural LED's. Out of them three, Osram are the clear winners & their diodes have won many awards. That's why I chose a light fitted with Osram SSL 80's. The problem with being so picky is there aren't many manufacturers using Osram LED's so it narrows your choice. What it does give though is peace of mind, I know what LED's are fitted because I know what SSL 80's look like. If I opted for anything else, they would have to be fitted with top BIN diodes. The problem here is many manufacturers may claim to use them but how can you prove if they are or not?
Top BIN diodes use less energy, are brighter & retain their colour longer than mid & low BIN diodes.

What area are you wanting to illuminate & what's your budget?

My area is 1.2m x 1.2m x 2.2m high or in english 4ft by 4ft by 6ft tall . Originally I was thinking of two 700watt mars ll but if you have kicked yourself after buying them because there are better lamps out there . I don't want to end up kicking myself because I should have gotten something better . I'll have a lot of research to do and I would even consider making the lamp myself if I have to . In the new year I'll be working on sittingbroune research centre . Where I will be fitting some doors to a large greenhouse which will be lit up by led . So this could be part of my research . I think it will be interesting to see who make horticultural led for commercial greenhouses . I've been waiting to make the switch for a while but I needed to wait until the new year . As December has turned out to be very expensive . Christmas wedding new car plus I've just found out some little scally has broke into my van and made away with my power tools . So I need to repair the back door of the van and replace my tools which don't come cheap . Mainly hilti tools .
