Brightlight's Strain Fest: Organics & LED

re: Brightlight's Strain Fest - Organics & LED

Hello BL! At the grocery store yesterday I was looking at the meat section in a whole new light! Im thinking of asking the butcher for 6 at a certain size. You must still put them in a p.towel its just the meat trays can be written on. Golden!! I'll wait till April to pop fall seeds for the yard. The meat trays can be stacked too so I can pop three trays at one time im also thinking. Im not sure if 15 days past flip is to late to take a clone but today Ive got time and thinking about it. The fan hurt a Chemie bad and the Gorilla Glue looks incredible BL! I never topped it but its got like 8-10 tops coming from the middle of the plant all the same length. Ive also got a lil spanky fucker that has a fingers a pointing!! I should pull one off that too. Its healthy too and could be a winner. My friend Willy said I need to start growing better weed. I told him Im already on my way my brother!!! Your S.Diesel is a winner. I wish my whole tent last time was SD. Great day BL!

Congrats there Brightlights... And thats a pretty looking gal ya got growing.
Next winter I really want to grow some of the diesels... I've stayed away from most of them just because of flowering times and mold issiues that are so common up here. Something like a NYCD. That one you just cut has some nice colas for a diesel. Much larger than most I've seen. Well when temps start dropping next year,, Keepem Green

I finally got my battery charger for my little Canon point & shoot back from my daughter. I had forgotten that I even took these pics. Flash pics for a change from my iPad natural light pics.

Gelato 41 x DoSiDo (what they were called when I got them as freebies....now called Dolato)

Boss Hogg Chem #4 but not what I was expecting. This plant is the most sativa leaning Chemdog I've grown or seen. Like the sativa leaner 2006 Chem #1, which I posted a pic of somewhere back. Long spears w/ buds up & down the branch. Slimmer colas. The usual Chemdog high & traits are present just in a lighter, sativa version. Not a sticky plant. Not a smelly plant. With its short trichomes (see pic) I thought it might be sub-standard. It wasn't, just different. A very enjoyable surprise.

I just smoked a taste of one of them plants you think ain't going to work,,, Louis 13th I thinks her name.. Kind of bland trichomes less looking and almost no smell period.. Looked like budder for it It wasn't half bad. And she hasn't dryed totaly yet.. I was supprised.. And I'm a hard one to catch a buzz.. Hopefully she'll cure into great product of whatever turns your crank... Nice buddage my Friend.. Keepem Green

Very nice Brightlight!!! You and NCW grow some beautiful plants!!! All is well for me over here so far. Great day BL!

LOOKING GOOD BL!! :geek:
Frosty delight! :cheesygrinsmiley:

Looks great Brightlight .. love the color of the PK! :thumb:

Thank you 4D, Hoz & Ms. Tea. Frost & color always bring smiles to us growers....when I can produce them.:thanks:

Your Eastie looks like a perfect pull, and she's quite filled in and solid looking. Should yield pretty well for strain and size. She looks like a classic beauty. :circle-of-love:

Lots of sativa goodness in her CareStaker. Sativa style full running buds up & down the branch. Firm but not rock hard at pick but dried nicely. Lasting complex fragrances....it lost that pungent unmistakable grapefruit but became a sweet, floral, slightly fruity fragrance that blasts out of the jar every time. Will take a couple of bud shots soon. Exquisite sativa effects.....easy to get real absorbed in things & forget how high I am until I look up into the bathroom mirror. By 2nd bowl the high changes some & overall effect hits much harder. Thanks for leading the way on this strain brother.. :Namaste:

Crazy how that works right? We probably all get them once in awhile but usually we're wrong & they work just fine. Good to hear your Louis turned out ok.:passitleft:

Super good looking plants and buds. Love your work my brother

Thank you DK. Love your garden too. Your breeding skills showing up around 420....seeing some nice plants of your strains.

Beautiful all round Brighlight - a true master at work :ciao::rollit::green_heart:

Thanks Ms. B. Nice of you to say but no way a master. I keep plugging along & keep learning. Fortunate to be able to produce a few nice plants along the way. Continuous learning & improvement is the goal.

BIG THANKS to ALL who visit & post here. That Journal of the Month award was a big surprise. Sure it's "my" journal but collectively it's everyone's. I'm just the host.:circle-of-love:

Brightlight 2, the Mega, has been in action for almost 4 wks. now. Latest batch finished a few days of veg & getting acclimating to it. Now beginning 4th wk. of flower. Crazy fun being able to grown 9 in there now. 1st impressions of light in flower.....penetration is excellent. Bud size uniformity from top on down. Only thing not measuring up to Brightlight 1 is the frost production. Not nearly as heavy as before. But it's early. Could be that everything is so hunky dory that plants not seeing any need to react by producing trichomes until they're good & ready? Plants clearly like this light!

Looking at your tent pic BL. I over did my last defoil a lil. It will be the last one. Maybe a few big fans off the bottom next but definitely just a few. Many killer strains you have going! I flipped March 5 and Im right behind you looks like with bud development.
Thanks for your help Brightlight. Great Day.

The picture seems to make it appear a little denser than it really is...probably due to picture angle. It's actually somewhat airy inside the plant centers. I'm up to 9 (ugh) separate pruning occasions on this grow. Last grow I hit 15. Gack! I really hate taking off any leaves at all, but that's the way it goes indoors. I really cringe when I have to prune during flower due to the stress but that's when they really seem to call out for it. I'm more inclined to take off a few top fans than the bottom big fans. Again it pains me to do it but the buds need the light, & the bottom fans while not getting much light, they don't block buds & are still storehouses for plant nutrients/sugars etc. I mix ~10 leaves ea. morning into my regular breakfast fruit protein drink so not a total waste. :Namaste:

re: Brightlight's Strain Fest - Organics & LED

Hey there BL - really digging that Chemdawg you have there... wow she's a big one. That tall pheno is a surprise... all of a sudden 3x stretch and the fun begins. I like the way you let your plants grow and the Chem-d looks about perfect! Thats going to be a big yielder too.

Congrats on the Journal of the Month too... nice!

New lighting is always a big ?? for me... we never know, just gotta take a leap of faith. I think you will be fine, it looks like you are getting great penetration and for me that's what I look for in a good light ... that and produce! You have that in spades!

re: Brightlight's Strain Fest - Organics & LED

Congrats on the journal of the month BL! Nice!
I thought the same thing about big top leafs over the big bottoms but Im not sure. When you take them off the top they look so butchered. It will just be the damaged ones off the bottom. Funny how theres so many opinions on defoil. I like the looks of Manifolding and Im wondering if youve done a side by side experiment with it?? Camera angle or not your grow looks great!!
Thanks.

re: Brightlight's Strain Fest - Organics & LED

I sometimes wonder why I don't see more Chem & Chem cross grows since it's rep & notoriety is so widely known.

Firstly, this thread, which I just found, is excellent! .

Now, to address the above...
The reason that more Chemdog related hybrids aren't available, is because not that many people have the actual, original P1 clones. The Chem D clone, for example, trades for huge $$$$$, if it can even be sourced through verified channels. There are huge Colorado grows offering big money for the real deal but family out there that holds the D clone lol at that silly shit. Dilute the quality, dilute the legacy, not a chance. The vast majority of "chemdog" and "sour diesel" seeds being sold, simply aren't "as labeled" and most are generated from polyhybrid crosses made by cash hungry pollen chuckers to begin with.
Also, fuckery from shops like Greenhouse Seed Co., who simply co-opt names to cash in. Arjan has been unapologetically doing it for years. OG Kush, Sour Diesel, Chemdog, he's "borrowed" the names without bothering to acquire the genetics. Barney's Farm, the same shit. The Dutch are crooked as fuck-if you don't believe me, look up "Dutch East India Company/opium wars" or tulip bulb market manipulation, and the seed business is just a 21st Century version of that. Back to topic: When people buy the wonky-named seeds, they of course stick with the name, so a "chemdog" clone that isn't, goes around mislabeled, pissing in the gene pool, diluting the name.
I've had the Chem D clone, Sour D, and many others, for decades. They don't get sold, they don't get traded, and a person has pretty much gotta' be family or have some sick credibility to have them offered. When buying seeds, today "CAVEAT EMPTOR!" is the bottom line. If a grower sees pretty pics on a seed site, remember: They're likely pinched from Instagram & not indicative of what your results will look like-in fact, the picture probably doesn't represent the genetics being sold at all. For solid genetics, I recommend Mr. Nice Seeds. Shanti has original P1 stock from Neville that goes all the way back to Sam the Skunkman and Positronics-Serious OG genetics. The market right now is 97% garbage poly-polyhybrids/fems and autos, and (imo) polys are okay if you can ascertain lineage (which is rare) & like unicorn hunting, but fems have No Place in the picture & autos are only good if you're CBD focused or have a hemp fetish. All righty, end rant .
Again, killer thread man, fun stuff!!

re: Brightlight's Strain Fest - Organics & LED

Congrats on the win.. My 'Old Lady' stole the vap pen from me.... We've brought alot of the pens for flowers and none have worked as well as this one does,, and to my surprise,, is still working great.. All the others never gave ya a hit or burnt out in acouple days of half ass working.. Miss J has been using it for a month now.. Garden is looking great my friend..

I tend to agree with what Doctor said, I have no faith in names.. It's mostly what one person breeding has done to creat their version of what they think it should be. Even if they don't have any of the true strain.. But these people doing these seeds,, like Greenhouse and about all the others, have access to massive breeding areas to produce seed stock and keep genetics alive..They have alot more going on than I care to do, so it's worth it to buy seeds,, I'll enjoy some and be disappointed with others.. I don't feel like making my own seeds nowadays.. Beleive me,, in the past long before the net,, seeds were gold too.. Wasn't anywhere to get genetics in the 70's and 80's,, unless you knew someone,, you picked seeds outta bag weeds.. To me three kinds of weed,,, bad weed,, good weed, and better weed.. A name is a name,, a good pheno is gold.. I'm still out prospecting for my gold.. Keepem Green
