Breaking Brix: Buck's DIYs

Hey there Buck... nice looking plants there buddy! Congrats on the new light set up. Are you using a low voltage trigger to turn them on??

Love all the trichome pics, thats amazing really.

On the mites... man you should be able to get rid of them ASAP. They have a life cycle so you kill the adults, the eggs hatch and kill them again before they reproduce and lay more eggs... So treat them every 3 days with spray (spinosad is enough) and silica. Every 3 days for 2-3 weeks.

I usually get rid of them for 2 rounds then get lazy spraying and they come back again. I use a lot of silica and I think my plants don't taste too good to insects because of that. I use a lot of fans blowing at the soil line of the plants ... that along is effective control, mites hate wind and rain.

Your infestation doesn't really look that bad. It looks like you are killing the adults but they are laying eggs and round and around it goes. Need to break that cycle with treatment more often.

My experience is they never really go away... they really like hotter temps so I usually have the mites back in August then gone for another season. I've had better luck after more fans like that little black round one you have on the floor. I got mine from HD and have a bunch of them pointed at the soil at top of pots. I have my fans on a separate circuit they run 24/7. After more fans I've had much better luck and less need for IPM sprays.

The problem with mites is they adapt to the same chemical treatment over time. So it's best to use a multi pronged approach. Pyrethrins is pretty strong shit add that catalyst thats with it, you should be rid of them. Just try the fogger every 3 days for 2 weeks. You will kick them to the curb. GL my friend...

Oh yeah was going to say "pics or it didn't happen" from the Bachelor party but sounds like someone beat you to it! yikes.... what's at a bachelor party, stays at the bachelor party... unless forgot wrappers! Oh and same treatment for bugs from bachelor party as mites (Pyrethrins)! hahahahaha Oye.

Hope your nephew sorted things out. Maybe even a little ass kick for the picture guy. wtf?

Nice haul on the seeds.... I just got a pack of Tripple Chem Face (Dosidos x 3 Chems).... there's a weekly meeting for seed-o-haulics .... and, I'm off the wagon again.

Cheers and you're hitting HRs. plants are awesome.

Gorgeous garden buck. What smell comes thru on your sour strawberry. Any ecsd coming thru?

I had a little gassed smell, along with a little fruity also. Just can't put finger on smell yet. But it reminds me of something. This girl has been a pleasure to grow. Just has been so easy to grow, she loves whatever you throw at her

Thanks bob, my problem this round was I've been away most of the time. I just can't get cycle broke, but I've been putting a dent in them. I just let another fogger off. There was significant damage from them, especially the cherry vanilla. But they have persevered lol. But I've been followed your advice on using a variety of things. I think that is key. I'm on way to meeting myself, just waiting on couple packs to get delivered lmao ..

. These came yesterday, just hit 200 strain mark. I should have enough variety now. I went a little overboard on seeds, but all the fire is right here in states now, don't have to mess with customs and overseas stuff anymore.

Awesome collection!! If u ever don't want to run some of the freebies let me know I'll gladly pay to get them and grow them in my journal. ...

Some of these breeders really give out some great freebies. I gotta start a list of what I have, and draw a number. Might be able to do some trading or something on some. There's a few I have a few packs of. I need to catalog them by breeder. All the years with prohibition, I've gone crazy buying. Can get online or drive down the street. It's getting easier to get good genetics

It's weird about the free bees... I seem to always pop them first and hold onto the "special" ones I just ordered.... does anyone else do that or is it part of my "problem"?

on the mites... I find them only on a few branches of only one plant usually. The last time they were on a plant that was getting a lot less water than the rest and was way dry ... it actually made me look at my auto water system and how I found my water issue.

Pests like the easy targets which usually are the weaker plants either thru genetics or less healthy overall. I've found genetics is the more common factor for attraction. Breeders can breed in ability to fight off pests... if they want to.

Buck yer killing it... make those trichome pics are fantastic.

Why I like dynasty, professor P, he breeds some strong plants and keeps trying to improve them.

I kinda like the freebies too, easier than opening a $2-300 pack lol. But lots of freebies are pure fire, unreleased stuff or limited runs.

Thanks bob, I think as long as I keep spraying and fogging for another month. I may have them wiped out. As soon as I harvest I'm going to let 4 off at once, gonna wipe anything that's still alive

Here's a tester from strayfox, these girls have a real nice color, this is the only one I haven't topped yet. I'm not going to top her, just let her go. I'm not going to veg much longer, gonna flip in week or so, when flower room is empty. He's needing to see how these are going to do before he releases them

Nice and vibrant! She looks so happy! What's the run down on that strain?

Hey Buck, got a lighting question... looks like some of your pics you are running 1750K and some other pics its 3K or more.... I thought you were all 1750K then added the panels after??

Or 2 rooms maybe?

I'm running a few 1750K COBs with 3K COBs. The 1750s don't seem as bright from human perspective ... hopefully the plants don't care....

Not sure, I've might have slipped a pic of my personal room( the one I don't show pics of lol). But my cobs are combination, a 2700k,3500k, and 4K in cobs. The boards are 3k with added reds and blues. Sometimes I forget to turn on white only on my controller.

The 1750's put out roughly half the light as a 3500k, they are very heavy in reds, have lot lower ppfd. Kinda like an hps, I have some 1750's and decided not to use them. If using 1750's it would brighten everything up more if you threw in some 6000k to offset or just run all 2700k and 3k for flower
