Bogus Monkeys Water Closet Winter 2022

How is it going @Bogus Monkey

I have a couple quick questions so I have a better idea of what going on.

What kind of water are you using? RO, tap, well, rain?

What is the temperature of your reservoir water? The reason I ask is because I thought I seen the on set of root rot in your first couple images. This normally occurs when the solution says above 72 degrees or 22. c .

The clumping you mention is normally because by the way the nutrients were mix a solution.
What order do you mix your solution?
Believe it or not this is important, because some nutrient must be mixed in first or you will notice the solution clouding at first then separating from the solution in clumps.
Are you using Silica?
Not mixing this first in your solution normally starts acting funny in the solution.

Last thing is you had a little calcium deficiency in one or two of your images this is normal. If you see it again just add some cal-mag to correct it.

If you like, I will follow along on your grow?

Stay safe, and grow well my friend,
Tok..

Edit: These comments are from the beginning of your journal to now. So some may no longer apply.
Keep up the good work.
Hey TR I have a couple of questions if you don’t mind me asking? 1st the Calmag deficiency you see is that the yellowing? 2nd How are you spotting the onset of root rot? I’m still trying to learn as much as possible and find it all very interesting. CL🍀

The water is tap. Run through a hose as the grow room is about 75 feet from the house. Fun as it gets colder here. I am open to connecting a RO system to the hose but haven't found such an attachment and I am working on getting healthy enough again to carry buckets that far. (Maybe put a RO in the house). I may try the FF mix one more time in the res. I was recommended and purchased Pythoff to help with root rot and it seems to be working. Room is about 3' by 7'. I have fought root rot a couple times now and came out OK. Still, avoiding it all together is ultimate. I am happy with FloraMax so far. From searching and poking around here it looks like they are a former sponsor. At this point I cant get over (Maybe Weird) the smell in the res once the solution is mixed. There is no dead fish/seaweed, dead anything smell. Almost smells like ink from an ink well with a slight tinge of ammonia. The PH is staying extremely stable. I have a concern about that PGR stuff and do not want any of that near my grow. I will continue to search out threads here and google journals/diaries where people have used this product. The current root picture is a little misleading because of shadow and spectrum. There was early root rot but this Pythoff seems to corrected it in that I have white roots coming out of what I thought was rotted or dead roots already. Trying to remember what I might be leaving out. Almost too many pinch hitters and coffee this morning. Almost.

Normally calcium deficiency appears as rust splotches on the leaves. This is not uncommon in water if the solution isn't mix in the right proportion and the temperature stays above 72 degrees for a period of time.

In water if you notice the roots turning too an off white or a real light brown color it is the start of root rot. The first thing I would check is the water temperature get that under control to about 68 degrees and add Hydroguard to condition the water and get the roots back to white.

Also, when the solution is a little cooler it allows more oxygen available to the roots, but not to cold.

This is one thing that can make or break a grow.
Hope this helped.

(Maybe put a RO in the house)
I have a portable one that connect to a sink, and can make up to 50 gallons a day.

Do a search on Amazon for Purosmart portable RO system. It cost around $100.00.
I just change my filter when I start to see a raise in ppm's; it is normally 0 when operating properly.

I have not used this product but did some reading on it. Not the same as hydroguard, but after reading a little bit about it; it seems to do close to the same thing.

I am with you 100% and do not or have not use these product. I can do the same thing (almost) with training and just using regular nutrients and not adding any kind of boost product in the flowering stage.

If you research your products, this would eliminate any doubts in your mind.

Thanks now I see what you were seeing. I also seen that your growing Golden Tiger, I’m a Sativa lover to and read it’s a great one high wise. I’m thinking about growing it in my tent, do you have any suggestions? Thanks again amigo. CL🍀

@CaptainLucky let me know when you start your journal and I will follow along.

Will you be using soil or water?
How long do you plan of vegging?
I’ll be using 50-50 FFOF +FFHF if I’m not mistaken it said 15 days of veg + will be using @ Prescription Blend nutes. Under my new @ MedicGrow Fold-6 4 plants in 5gl. grow bags. CL🍀

I am trying FF again for a week or so. It has been nice with the FM in that I don't have to check PH every 24 hours but for every good thing there can also be bad things. I am having a deficiency see leaf pictures. It is only the biggest leaves and the worst of it is at the bottom of the plants. Female flowering is just starting to show.
Second problem - - I am just sort of going to call em like I see em... I'm going to call them "dog pecker gnats." They are populating the hydroton and not the plants themselves. They are not bad YET... I am fighting them with a product called "Endall" -
Any and all help, comments and suggestions are welcome.
I'm tagging a couple people (I think that's what it's called) hopefully I don't offend anyone, especially those I tagged - and again thanks to everyone who takes the time to read and chime in.
@Rexer - Cause you appear to be a hydro person.
@Bill284 - Just because - hahaha.

Good evening my friend, hope you are doing well.
Your in hydroton pellets correct?
Because it says your trying fix farms?

Mosquito dunks for the gnats.
Zon $20.00 or so.

If your in hydro you must feed full strength nutrients at 5.8 ph.
Calmag in the water 15 minutes ahead of nutrients.
Your ladies are starving :Namaste:
What are you feeding them?
What ppm and ph?

Stay safe

PH 5.8 and I actually forgot to check the PPM's before I walked out of there tonight. Just checking in before sleep or I'd run back out there. Really all last week was 1200+ ppms. Yes - Hydroton. This FM product I found recommended no Cal/Mag. I'm planning a trip to the hydro store tomorrow as I am out. I was having problems early on with FF dirty dozen and switched a product called FloraMax. Sleepy and too many pinch hitters. I check back in tomorrow. Thanks for the reply and peace to you and yours. B284

The FF was mixed correct for sure this time and got me through 24 hours. Tonight is was settled out puke muck. I drained and refilled with the FM which I am now out of so. I am willing to purchase through here. Any and ALL hydroponic nutrient suggestions welcome. I am sure my current res mix will last a week to 10 days tops. How simple is it and how stable is it PH wise?

GH is the simplest and cheapest.
Ph will vary daily and usually requires monitoring as far as I know.
@Rexer :ciao: would be more experienced at that.
Good morning Rex, do you monitor ph daily in your res tank?
Thanks Amigo. :passitleft:
Take care.

Going to give General H Flora Series. G M & B series a try. - Should be here before the next res change.
Personally it doesn't get easier than the GH Flora Nova Series. One bottle for grow, one for bloom. It's my go to. The only drawback is its thick as molasses.
Add cal mag and you have the essentials for a grow.

Toss in liquid koolbloom, some kelp, microbes, and enzymes and that's everything I use.

Ph check daily, adjust when needed (usually once a day or two).
