Bio char

That's cool I didn't know if you've tried that,I tried that feed fermentation you recommended this time with the broiler food along with some kelp meal , I tried the starter mix they didn't like it They must've been to young or the medicine in the starter feed I fed them medicated starter mix but my chick's are 6 weeks old now looking REALLY HEALTHY but they are eating that fermented broiler feed up like crazy thanks for the tips👍 !!! The molasses for the spray is to activate the microbes otherwise their dormant But it adds a different dimension to gut health my plants like it to but I guess it helps to start breaking down the 💩 in the pen and according to the test results Ive seen on the em-1 site with using that activated em-1 as a spray and water treatment in chicken coops and watering buckets salmonella was reduced by like 95% or something like that in the manure and coop area I guess the big chicken outfits use it for pen treatment already fermented or activated seems to go along way that way I got 10 chickens they'll eat up my Bokashi pretty quick they like it ALOT and I'm kinda lazy to make it All the time even 40 lbs that's why I learned organic gardening it's not as time consuming more sustainable and more forgiving than as hydro is 😂

Another thing that I have been trialing, is the use of Diatomaceous Earth (DE). I have been mixing a teaspoon into their 'wet treat food' such as the fermented grains I give them. I read how DE works great to keep them free of worms and gut parasites. Some folks reckon their chickens have more energy, shinier feathers and just more healthy in general. I have been using it for a couple of months and I'm positive on it.

BSF collection tray it's working good so far can't wait to see if any of them hatch it'll be soon

@Stunger well I researched the DE you were talking about and I knew about using it In their bath sand which I was gonna do but not about the coop or food what I found on feed was it helps keep it from clumping together and gives certain minerals to the chickens I couldn't find anything about the wet feed but I think it's good to so I'm gonna roll with it

Success I have adult BSF in my lepidtarium I'm HAPPY the investment looks like it'll be worth it 👍 recommended if your into sustainable practice and don't mind a small bit of investment

These guys will feed my plants, chickens ,and worms but if you have fish, bullfrogs, and lizards it'll feed those to I'll post a pic when I get more adults

Bio char innoculation with Dan Hettiger ,Living Well farms on You Tube they talk about using Bio char as a substrate in an aquaponic system such And he talks about peeing on it to in part 2. must watch videos if you're using and making char he talks about Bokashi lechet composting with meat dairy all the shit your worms can't eat as well

I've sometimes thought of getting one of those patio mosquito zippers and using the dead bugs for frass.

What's the deal with the flies? Do they die after laying their eggs?
Yup they die in 8 days and they are pretty dosil and they have no mouths so they don't bite and all's the adults do is reproduce and die

@Azamuth ,You'll want to put a small clip on light, I used a small led on a timer in the tent if doing them inside try to mimick summer the best you can light wise.

They are pretty temp tolerant within reason in the bin and tent temp.
In summer keep your tote or bin in the shade preferably by some kind of plants. I have a SHIT TON of adults already I'm just waiting to see larvae.

Put burlap or pieces of cardboard in the tote or bin close to the food so they can lay their eggs they don't lay them on the food source like House flies. Better on the wall of word's???🤓✌️
