BigBearNTX Perpetual Auto Grow

Processing was pretty simple and quick. Because I’m not going to smoke the plant, I don’t really care too much about curing. Down the line, using cured bud will be an option, because time helps break down the THCA and other cannabinoids into what we are looking for.

For tincture, I’m basically processing like for a solvent resin, except I don’t evaporate all the solvent. I use 190 proof ethenol from the liquor store, so it’s food grade.

I dry the bud in the food dehydrator, to minimize cells bursting open when freezing.

Decarb to convert the THCA to THC. Pretty standard 240F for 45 min.

Grind with my regular weed grinder, not a coffee grinder.

Freeze. Was frozen for about five hours.

I normally would have done a quick wash with the alcohol, but decided to just let the plant material soakin the freezer overnight. I knew it would draw out more chlorophyll, but wasn’t concerned.

Strained. Did another quick alcohol wash or two, then put it into this water bath set for 200F to evaporate off the alcohol. I’ll evaporate down to about 50ml, started with 400ml.

Simple stuff really. I use the electric griddle, btw, so there isn’t an open flame around the alcohol fumes.

I have induction, so no flames here either. What is the freeze for? That is a new one for me. That is pretty easy to follow.....thanks.:thanks:

The colder your material and alcohol, the less chlorophyll is extracted. If you keep the water soluble parts locked up as ice, better chance of a more pure extract of the alcohol solvable cannabinoids. If I had done a true quick wash, it would have been about three minutes per wash. It doesn’t take long to dissolve what we’re looking for.

OH, I see. That makes sense.

So, you freeze both (190 is not likely to freeze, but is very cold). Then wash once, and save the solution. Then a second, and save the solution. Combine, then flash most of the 190 off. (without flame in 200 Deg F water bath)

That is very simple.....

Thanks very much for the explanation. :thanks:

Watered the Pineapple Express with just bloom nutes. I’m thinking she may be ready at the end of the month, which would be right at about 11-12 weeks.

The Amnesia Auto wasn’t ready for feeding, but her growth is really taking off. I had to adjust her pins today to spread out her growth. She’s about filled the bucket, so I’m thinking I won’t have to adjust her pins for much longer.

The Northern Lights Auto seedling is looking good. Took off her humidity dome last night. Gave her a bit of plain water this morning, just a touch. Left the dome off, we’ll see how she does today.

Pics all loaded sideways for some reason.

Fast Buds Pineapple Express Auto at 10 weeks. I think she’ll finish up right at the end of the month. She’s looking a little beat up, but since were in the home stretch, I’m not worried.

Canuk Seeds Amnesia Auto Week 6. Growth has exploded on this girl this week! I’m moving pins every day to lay down and spread out the new growth. I may have to do some light defoliation soon.

Lastly, the baby, CKS Northern Lights Auto at two weeks.

I’ve been researching 1:1 to 1:2 THC/CBD ratio strains. Everything I have right now is fairly high THC and negligible CBD. Since I use for pain and sleep, I think moving into that area would make a ton of sense. Unfortunately, my pocket book says that I should probably wait. Lol

I’m looking at Herbie’s for my next purchase, they have some great freebies going on right now with auto breeders.

BigBear! They stopped sending me updates on your journal! Man! I came back to find you. Auto Tent of Love up in here! Everything looks great and I'm glad to see it again. Now I'm off to find the rest of the updates and journals I'm not getting anymore!

Yah, you have to go back and either post or choose “watch” on all the threads you were previously subscribed to. I haven’t looked for a “mark as read” button for some of the long threads. But you can jump to the end of the thread and work backwards to catch up.

Also had the moderators change the name of the thread to more accurately reflect what I’m doing. The Pineapple Express will be done soon, so figured I should change the name since the next ones in the lineup won’t be the same strain, or chemovar, as Sue says. Lol

Picture day!

Not a lot new to see, so today it’s just pictures of the trichomes on the Fast buds Pineapple Express Auto.

She is showing a mix of clear and cloudy, with a couple of amber. I’m thinking she gets the chop next weekend.

I should get a cheap tripod thingy for Trich pics. I have to hold the loupe right up against the Buds and between fans and my own shaking, they aren’t as sharp as I’d like. For regular checks, I take the loupe off it’s clip and just hold it to my eye to check.

Even with a tripod it is difficult. I have taken a couple of short movies of mine and then use an app that you can move frame by frame and export a photo of the frame you choose.

You did a fantastic job of shooting those and holding the camera steady.

The bane of my tent existence is trich shots or anything that requires me not to shake. Freakin' Marty McFly over here!

That isn't a bad idea at all. What app.
