Battle Of The Mars Bars: FC3000 vs FC-E3000, Sponsored By Marshydro & Weed Seeds Express

I've never done coco so I wouldn't no I've heard it's can't go dry so always done soil haha I want to run a coco when I'm all set back up to se difference and I found along as they not hanging off there bounce back but can't tell any broke though
After growing in both.
I would say not much in it if your doing it right.
Some say the yield is bigger i never found it made that much dif tbh.
But when things go wrong it is so easy to adjust things.
I would reco getting a good drip system dailed in would make life much easier.

I hear coco needs/prefers every day replenishing, is that right Skunk?

Yup flower sometimes i have hit 2/3 times a day in mid flower.
When i up pot in veg i can get away with every other day until the roots take a hold.
1/2 weeks maybe depending on strain and growth. ;)

Yup its a commitment if you dont setup something up.
But if im careful with up potting and my time scales in veg.
Tends to be lights on and lights of in mid flower.
Once a day for 80% of the grow ;)
But as we all know nothing in this game goes 100% to plan :thumb:

Couldn't be more accurate....

Hey bro, sounds good. Im in coco too, and i let them dry almost totally, lol. Well, its a 3/1 coco cocoloco mix actually, so really, 90% coco and like 5% peat 5% perlite. I have those 2 running, both same mix, i let 1 dry out and the other is submerged in water all the time now with airstone in bottom of pot

Ok so most of them have started to turn around.
AG still not liking life at all.
But looking greener.
Next feed will up the calmag to 1ml to L.
Looks like they need it for a feed or two.

I think it all depends on the size of your pots krissi on this one. I've never fed daily unless my girls where in dire need of a repot into something alot bigger. I water my girls every 4 days ATM (last time was 5 as I just repotted and the new pots are huge) even in my smaller ones I was watering every 2 days at least. When people say don't let the Coco dry out they mean dry out completely. But Coco holds alot more moisture than soil does so it can stay moist for a good amount of time. You just don't want it to dry out completely as it would damage the roots. I assume it's the same for all mediums though

@Skunksta

I am getting sponsored by @Mars Hydro with an FC-3000, and have some questions for you please.

Does that light add a lot of heat to the tent? About what temp? If I keep the room itself cooler, would that help? Also, I think I read somewhere here in your journal you put the driver outside of the tent. Does that help keep temps down? Sorry - hubby’s flipping over 300 watts in my little old tent; says we’re gonna have a fire.

Thanks Moon!! Hi btw!!! Nice to see you. You know I only know soil so any information I can get it helpful since I know nothing about coco!!

Hey :) was just doing my rounds checking out skunks ladies lol.

Coco and soil aren't very different when it comes to water schedule. You so water a bit more than in soil because you want a bit of run off.

The main difference is that soil contains alot of stuff the plant can use so in you treat the soil to feed the roots. But in Coco there isn't anything apart from the ability to hold moisture and create a microbial system. So you have to provide everything the plant will need and also everything the microbes will need.

Basically just means a few more bottles hanging around lol.

My new pots are around 10 gallon or 40 litre even tho they were supposed to be 30... Lol. So I water about 3 litres each ATM or a touch under a gallon. By the time they are near the end of veg they will need a gallon each and probably every 2-3 days. Probably 2 one feed 3 the next. Then into flower will be 2 days all going well. I'm planning for some very big girls though and a good 10 week veg minimum.

Gotcha...I was under the assumption they were oil and water but I guess technically, especially with my FFOF, they kinda are...

Seems like more work to me but...

that's a big pot...I've never been up from a 5gl

Skunk did say during flower, you water much less so that's I guess a good thing. Think I just like the smell and the feel and the earthiness of soil? I don't think me and coco are friends...hot cocoa now that's something different my friend

It's horses for courses that's all :) my mixes don't take much effort or I wouldn't do it haha.

Yeah it's the biggest pots I've ever used. It wasnt actually my plan but it was all the shop had at the time. In the end it will increase my yield but I'm going to need to do some serious training when my netting goes in. I'll need at least 2 layers of netting maybe 3 this run lol.

Flower is when they get hungry in my world.
Thats when i might feed 2/3 times a day but like Moony said.
And I like i did before.
Its all about pot planing get it right and your never feed more than once a day.
Some would say its a waste going bigger pots to help with holding on to water in the final pot.
Im a lazy grower and have said a few times on here its what i do.
My root balls/roots never tend to over run my fabric pots due to normally up pot flip that week.
But as already said nothing never runs 100% to plan.
Like this time i missed my window. ;)

With all this said, why do you guys prefer coco over soil if it seems to need the extra attention? I guess I'm asking what benefits of coco outweigh those of soil, in your opinions.. @Moony this goes to you, too

I would say with the driver on they do get pretty hot.
With out it on at 100% tent temp lights out 19/20c.
No intake on it will rise to 26c light on and pretty much sit there with just the out take.
That being said the vent to the in take is still open just no fan movement.

Its just so forgiving when things go wrong.
Less bug problems.
Dont smell like some GOOD soil (like poo)

and the two yes it does and no it donts.

1. yeild
2. quicker harvest
I found it makes little dif but i have not grown soil in over 6/7 years.
So i would not know on those to.

I was wondering if those were factors in your decision
So i would not know on those to.
Maybe Moon knows, who knows lol

You're awesome though, thank you Skunk I appreciate your insight
