Bard's Third: Indoor, Coco, Chemdogs, Doctor & NL

DAY 8 of Veg:

All four plants are doing well. Second set of true leaves started to show yesterday. They are all roughly the same height, which is great as The Doctor had been a bit slow off the mark. They are continuing to get a very diluted nute formula, but I think I will increase the Cal/Mag a bit - some slight variegation in the leaves I don't like. Otherwise, pretty healthy. Roots underneath are looking great!

What are those yellow cards on your cups? Is it for bugs?

Yes, the cards are sticky paper to catch insects. So far they have caught flying coco! :)

There are a few fruit flies, I think, but using the sticky cards as a preventative more than anything for gnats or mites. Very happy that I haven't had any bug problems, fingers-crossed that it stays that way.

Thanks for stopping by.

Hey Mr. P! Thanks for stopping by. How are you doing these days? Last I heard you were going through a bit of a tough patch. Hope life is good now.
Jammin' along... just had to adjust & move forward.

Excited to see you bang out these Chem strains!
:thumb:

I'm sure you'll do them all justice, I'm just watching them Chems extra-close. LoL

I've been watching mine closely for insects, bit never see any. Does everyone eventually get them, or are there factors that cause them?

I didn't do my setup in my garage because I thought I'd be safer inside the house from them.

I'm no expert, as fortunately I haven't had any issues so far. I am using a product called "gnat nix" which looks a little bit like perlite. I put a layer about 1/2" deep on top of the coco. Apparently prevents bugs from laying eggs in the medium. And the sticky cards, and LOTS of air movement.

I would guess that outdoor grows are logically more susceptible, but I have heard of lots of folks getting them indoors as well, especially growing in soil/organic. I think that dampness is another factor.

They are apparently a real pain in the ass to get rid of, so I wanted to be cautious.

Glad to hear that things are moving in the right direction for you. LOVE your new grow room. Fingers-crossed your new neighbor is not the nosey type.

I'm curious/excited to see what these chem-babies do! As you know, I'll be cross-posting in the comparative grow as well. "The Doctor" strain should make for some nice sleepy-time gummies, and good meds for Mrs. Bard.

Have a great weekend!

One of the reasons I went with hydroponics!

Love "Mrs. Milly."

The melatonin is a great idea. I will need to investigate that. Sorry about the snoring LOL.

I used the 10mg "quick dissolve" flavored tablets. Just crunched them to a fine dust & added to the gummy mixture.

I used 1 melatonin tablet to every 3 gummies. Just enough to knock her ass out. LoL

Oh...... and Mrs. Milly is actually one of the founders of the "nine-milly" name. LoL, she is packing heat everywhere she goes. LoL

Will go hunting for those tablets. You guys are the Milly-family!

Def. gonna follow this. Nice looking start Bard!

Happy Friday, everyone!

The four youngsters are progressing pretty well. Really is amazing how fast they grow. Today is DAY 11 of veg. Here are the fab four:

As I said, all looking pretty good; however, I am a bit troubled by the leaves on the Chem 91. A slight bit of discoloration, and some wrinkling. I will of course keep an eye on it. I feel good about the environment (70-80F, 50-65% RH). I don't think it is a nute problem, as formula is very diluted. I did increase the Cal/Mag a bit a day or so ago. If anything, I would say that they look hungry, given the light green colour. Anyone have an opinion? Here's a close-up of the Chem 91:

On the other hand, I am really impressed with The Doctor. She was the slowest to emerge, and was lagging the others a bit. She has pulled out in front in the past day or two. She has by far the most developed root system. Just now I noticed circling of roots at the bottom of the solo cup. I am thinking that I will try to stay ahead, and will transplant at least The Doctor (and maybe some others) tomorrow. I have the 3-gallon fabric pots already filled with coco. A few days ago I washed and buffered the medium, so we are good to go!

Have a great weekend, everyone!
