y'know... other than the office, I've never worn a wrist strap on my own projects. Of course, I don't have my stuff, or build it on the carpet. I sit in the kitchen on the leno with my bare feet. That way if I drop a screw or something, I can see it. And don't worry about the whole vinyl/wool thing... I'm severely allergic, so wool is right out. I do have anti static bags everywhere around me from the parts I pull out of the boxes, so that might be something there.

BID - love the strain ideas. Super Lemon Haze is really a winner IMO. I'm feeling very nice because of it at this very moment. Love the stuff. Chocolope is probably my favorite strain so far, but SLH is in my top 3 for sure. I'm going to do a Super Silver Haze and Amnesia at some point soon (Amnesia is a variation of Super Silver Haze). Maple Leaf Indica is an indica I'd like very much to grow at some point, too.

Strap, shmap. I like to live on the edge. ;)

yeah earthing is a pain in the ass since the 'upgrade' to atx form. back when we had AT powersupplies all we had to do is hold onto the case an we were earthed, now the case is powered. that never did sit well with me =(

All you had to do is touch the case and remember with AT boards. . . . Red to Red, you're dead.

building a pc now is like childs play compared to say the 90s remember trying to find drivers? going online was a last resort cuz it could mean pc death, that is if you had drivers for your nic card and could get the right hardware handshaking protocols didnt forget 75 different settings baud rates had to be set just right .i fell in love with win2k when it came out win me was the toy os that had to be reinstalled every 3 months, remember getting internet working on 95? or even better 3.1 lol took me a week on my first 3.1 machine and i remember being hot shit with my 36k modem that cost 75$!!

I worked for CompuServe before the AOL merge.... INIT STRINGS WERE HELL!!! 28.8 baud was the greatest speed then for the home user.

"okay, pull up terminal services... Click Start/Accessories/System Tools/Terminal"

"Okay, is your computer on this line, or do you have a second line?"

"Second line? Great! Type this, A T Ampersand F and hit enter... It's Shift 7... The and sign... yeah, hold down shift and hit 7, now F, and hit enter. What does it say?"

"okay"

"GREAT! You have the correct modem drivers installed"

"Now type A T D T and hit enter. Hmmm.... no dial tone... Type AT&F again and hit enter."

"okay"

"What is the exact model of your modem, I need to get an initialization string for you. Yes, the box that plugs into the phone line."

"Oh, you have an internal? That narrows it down, and makes it easier to find out... Do this, go back to your terminal window...."

UGH!!

ROFL!

"Do you have a TV?"
"Yes."
"And you have to turn it on to watch it?"
"....Yes...?"
"Do you still have the box your computer came in?"
"Yes."
"And the receipt?"
"Yes."
"Is the place you bought it close?"
"Yes/No." ((I don't care, really))
"Do they have a warranty program?"
". . . . . . . . . yes?"
"Good, do us both a favor: Pack your computer back into the box, drive it to the store from which you bought it, and give it to the salesman that pushed this one on you. Tell him you'd like your money back because ((yelling through the phone, now))YOU'RE TOO STUPID TO KNOW YOU NEED TO TURN IT ON TO MAKE IT WORK!!"

Alternatively, remove the yelling bit, and instruct the person to tell the salesman, there's an ID 10 T error.

Doode, I remember when Windows 95 came out it needed 16Mb of ram to operate properly. Me being the semi nerd I am went out and bought 16MB of ram for the whopping price of $500....that's when my semi-love affair with computers and the web came into being. I immediately learned the tricks of the new system and found myself tutoring people for $35 an hour...I also did a couple of web page designs for people. Then I built my first 'puter, it was all downhill after that. I used to have my own web address and all but don't find it necessary anymore with FB and all. I spend more time here or at pokerstars than FB. I'm sure glad things came down in price and are getting quicker. Remember taking all night to download a 1Mb file?? Arrrrrgh!
