for those of using the lst technique how long do you leave em staked down?

I think it's a very common thing. All of my plants have eventually had purple stems. If it progresses into the foliage itself then it's time to worry. Or if the stems turn red... That slight of a purpleness is not to worry about.

then what is it and how did you treat it? i dont want to become a problem and then try to fix it.:thanks:

i dont think i will cut the ropes loose before chop time or at least until they stop growing in size. But since a plant gets into pre flower i pull very softly just to give them an ankle and let the light go further inside. But i'm a noob so thats just my thought. there is a chance to cut them loose when they go in full flower week7

What purple thing? Do you mean how the stem is turning a bit red/purple? That can be genetics, temperature or maybe a mag deficiency. But don't assume it is a problem first, it may just be the plant's color. Look at breeder pics or other runs to see. But it doesn't seem to be affecting the plant at all.

Just my 2 cents.
Bob ;)

mine gets that purple color also even a bit worse then that. but seriously as Bob states if it does effect the growth of the plant it does not worry me to much.

i think its like us getting old we just gets birthmarks, spots and rinkles a bit - better than becoming purple in most cases i would say :)

when i do LST i keep them tied down at least untill they get that thicker wood type stem going on, and most of the time if its not a problem i just keep them tied and give em a notch or two more over time?. cuz they will just go right after that light if you do not constrain them at least till they have that almost wooden surface going on :) with regular plants not autos you could do the HST supercropping method to snap the inside of the stem. after some time it will get a fat woody lump were you snap it and that stem won't go anywere after getting that wooden lump look it up on youtube M8 interesting technique.

started to cut fan leaves yest. Light goes much further inside the bud sides now. there has been some watering and feeding too based on atrains advanced feeding schedule.we are on day 37

sorry about not uploading pics now. i'm trying to get some good pics but the big girls cant fit in one pic.

something i wanted to tell to first timers like me.

if you have a big tent and it seems that you can fit in more plants. think again. if you are planning to use large pots and also want to train with lst or topping so that the plants go bushier then you need space for them to reach their full potential. Also you should consider the extra amount of work. I run 8 plants but i'm almost sure that i could get the same amount of yield with 4 plants. cause they would have the space and the light to grow huge like Mary Krista and Sharon. i feel i wasted 4 seeds. Last but not least is that you dont have room to work on the plants so you have to do a lot of moving before you can reach the inner tent plants.:volcano-smiley:

of course everything i say in the journal is about Autoflowering plants.

I'm going to re arrange the tent once more. I fear for light stress from changing places 3 times in the last 4 days but i cant help it i have to find the best way for all of them to get as much light. the way it is now just doesnt feel right to me.
