Autoflower Myth Busting Thread

Went to a different grow shop today and got a free gift for new customers when I asked how long they had been open.:)

Don't think I'll have a use for a green CFL bulb this winter but when I go back to running photos in the summer I'm sure their free gift will come in handy.

Also, just had a buddy round that's running 12/12 on some photos and his lights off temps are dropping as low as 12C. My autos are on 20/4 so I can keep temps up and only dropping to about 21C with lights off. Makes me glad I chose to run autos and stick with HPS whilst temps were low.:)

And whilst I'm here this was my current autos on day 35.....

In my country, I read that a lot of people run UV neon tubes a few minutes a day for more resin.
They get them at terrarium/aquarium stores (black light for lizards, lol), and there are leds spots too for UV only, or may be night club supplies.

If you live in an urban area, where there is NO NIGHT (light pollution), and if you have grown outdoor in that environment, I would be interested to know your results in terms of high. The same plant grown inside is like, a LOT less powerful than the same one grown outside in those conditions , which was more powerful sooner. It did not have a lot of light per day neither, may be 8 hours max of full sun in July August. It could be the phenotype though, as 2 plants is not enough to make a comparison.

I am tempted to recreate that "no night" atmosphere in a tent :-) with a few orange leds for PC and decoration, and may be a couple of UV tubes for a few minutes a day.

In fact, does anyone actually grow outdoor in an environment where the night can actually be called a night ? it becomes hard to find nowadays....

That Ed guy, the one who wrote the marijuana bible says you can put blue lights, I think, and/or maybe green that won't break the 12/12 cycle on photo plants because those spectrums don't induce photosynthesis.

I have read articles of people using the lizard lights to add uvB or using purple grow lights to do that. I haven't seen conclusive evidence that it benefits resin production, though.

Question on germination.. Have any of u guys had any problems with germinating any seeds from TNSB? I recently have purchased and tried to germ a few different strains from different breeders. namely auto euphoria and polar express with no luck not even a seed pop. I don't have the packages handy to reference at this moment. I have also purchased northern lights from crop king and had a little trouble getting the seeds "shipping trouble" but every single seed germinated and not only that but most did so within less then 30 hrs. I am new to this and I understand that N.L. Is a hardier strain but does this in any way relate to germination? I expect certain strains to b harder to germinate, take longer but what's to long/bad seeds and ne suggestions or ideas to make this easier n less painless

It happens . You don't get a guarantee for your seeds ? if the seeds never pop, you should be refund or the seeds replaced. I understand guarantees are different according to breeders, but also shop. In EU, we are lucky to have alchimia, and users post results, and there are some strains that are very prone to difficulties. it's more a breeder/seed bank problem than a weed type problem, may be a bad batch sometimes, it happens, according to what I could read on their comments under each strain at least - there are strains I wanted but with the problems reported, I stayed away. (the english version of the comments on alchimiaweb is not very much used unfortunately, but the French, wow, a mine of information.... (France = biggest cannabis users in EU, illegal, but growing and grow shops spreads like e-cigs a few years ago ).

So contact the seed bank/shop and get refund or replacement, or change shop/seed bank if they are not even able to give you guarantee for seeds that do not work.

Trouble with that though is depending where you are or where you get seeds from. They are sold for 'souvenir' reasons. I had 2 chocolate orange auto seeds that never germed. Asked the seed bank. They just told me nothing they can do to help As it's illegal to geminate in certain places...

What a bunch of f...ers... ! I hope you will never buy anything from them anymore !
That's my way anyway !

Was just there last week :P I've had 99.9% germination rate from them. One seed i think was my fault tho.

Ah, if it's your fault it is your fault then :-D , me too it happens as I said, and i don't make a fuss about it :-)

And if it germinates, even if it looks like a nuclear mutant plant from hell, then, it popped, and you won't get any guarantees if you don't like what you get or if you get a weirdo.

It is not exact science ! but there are batches that simply won't work, and people who are in for the money like in any other industry (even a sponsor here who seem to take users for fools, but well, business....) . Users must have their say too.

;-)

Surely this buds not normal.. is it just a lost cause?or can it spring back to life
All sugar leaf is dying off along with the pistils..
:tokin:

It could be too soon to tell. It sure looks a bit unusual, but not necessarily, it may not be a reason to kill it now.
I have a NL that is growing like that, it is different from the others, but it sure grows well and happy here.

Does it produce trichromes/resin ? that's what is important after all.... you should keep them until the end, unless someone knows that it is a case for killing it.

For the leaf dying, just try the Grow nutrient at maximum dose, flood your pot with a solution of this (to have an evenly moist soil) and leave it like that to dry in 7 to 10 days, some leaves should be green and healthy again normally.

Contrary to nutrient guidelines in general, I have the impression that the AutoFlos need the max dose of Grow (N in particular) until the end. Otherwise, you will end up with yellow "sugar leaves" at some point during flowering. It seems to be a pattern in the stuff I've grown indoor (because outdoor, I do what I just said and never had a problem of premature yellow leaves - I've mainly grown Sweet Seeds and Buddha Seeds, but i don't know if it is related to the subject).

Unless you have a nuclear virus from biological warfare hell, of course, in this case, may be kill it before it kills you, lol :-) :D (joking)

The trouble with seeds and guarantee's is , they can only take your word for it , I'm sure that most people just take the bad with the good
and that is fine .
But if it keeps happening then you should ring and ask the supplier and if they offer to replace them , then great .
But if they don't then buy your seeds from someone else .
You also need to look at it from the shops point , I wonder hows many people have tried to get more seeds for free .
Be safe .

So do you use max grow and bloom at the same time?
