Hi Beast,

I have a "medical" sort of question for you. I have a girl that is about 3/4 of the way through the stretch. She was topped at 3rd node and I started tucking immediately. I brought up 8 tops that are towering above the rest of the plant. yesterday I watered and LST. I usually wait about 6-8 hours after watering to LST but this time I did it right after watering. After a close inspection I put her back in the tent. This morning she had a bad droop. This one rarely droops so I went right to the knuckles figuring I got a bit too aggressive with the LST. Sure enough, on the second set (right below the 2 main tops created by the topping) I have a small split on the left side of the knuckle - Between the knuckle and the main stalk. This is the only injury, and the split is probably less than 1/8" tall. I took the pipe cleaner off and used it to pull this branch back in toward the main.
The injury does not look bad but she is pretty pissed about it. Will this heal? If not, I would likely lose only this branch, correct?

Live and Learn :)

Obviously not beast, but I'd like to reply anyway.

It's very likely not fatal to either the plant or the branch, but you may want to consider taping it up to seal it off a bit, both for the plant internally as well as to keep infection, etc out.

Keep us all posted, I know beast would say the same thing about that at least.

don't worry at all if she is a big strong girl wont bother her 1 bit.id suggest using garden rope .iv done it a few times split the very main stalk.i just wrap garden rope round and round and pull tight so closes the wound back together.after 1 week remove the garden wire as she will be healed.and important u remove it as the stalk will get fatten as growth continues.so if u leave it on u may well indeed loose a branch.but I assure u all will be fine mate;)

Thanks guys. I was hoping it would not be too big of a deal. I attached a pic. It is a tear about 1/8" long (or a bit less). For this pic I retracted the branch to open it up. When I am not pulling on it, it is pretty much closed up.

will regular nylon type twine work to wrap that up? or even the pipe cleaners? I also have a few different kinds of tape, including cloth tape for wrapping (human) injuries.

I am surprised that I didn't completely tweak out when I found the damage. I KNOW I would have went nuts a month ago. Especially with her. She's the first one that I did not make any mistakes on.....until now :)

Bah! And here I thought you might have a problem!

Here's my accident, after four days of being wide open:

Here's where the break was:

And what the full plant looks like two months later:

Compare against yours.

:)

Yep, I'll have no problem sleeping tonight :) From the looks of this, I could have hit mine with a lawnmower and been fine :) Was your injury just above the cotyledon?!? It is just amazing that they can survive something like that.

That, btw, is an incredible looking plant

What I found incredibly funny was Atrain told me a day or two before that I'd pretty much have to try to kill them by breaking them off or something like that. Apparently I took that as a challenge. A lawnmower would have been more gentle I think. :)

Yup, you can see the first single leaf off to the bottom left of the pic, the first node above the cotyledon. I was devastated, then surprised, and finally full on amazed.

thanks shaun an I got just the 1 bean cream devil automatic. didn't top as says in info they don't grow to big and the centre cola gets big.so I left it to see if its true to its word;)time will tell and arnt sure of height il let u kno tmz when measured up;)

Arteekay,

When something like that happens, other than taping it up and walking it off, is there anything nutrient related that needs to be done? Do you boost or withhold anything?

I read to treat them like fresh clones, so I moved her into the corner out from directly under the light, and gave her a few foliar watering to try to get some into her since there was going to be so little able to make it to the top.

Otherwise I don't think there's anything else you can really do. Some say aloe vera can assist I think I remember reading, but only from a fresh plant not as an additive to some other formula.

Ok cheers mate, I knew u had the info somewhere as to why u didn't top it but couldn't be arsed to troll through n find it again lol...IT is nice to see One Big Fat Cola though
