Aussie First Time Grow

To me it looks like a gender structure is visible in the first pic but it is too difficult to make out from your picture. If you had a sharp closeup on the preflower (not the stipules) then you could quite possibly make a good guess from it's shape/features, otherwise you just have to wait until it develops further I'd think.

thanks mate. i topped them today so i had a look under the loupe up close on the bits i cut. 2 look good for it (the OG is a fem seed so it was expected) and one of the Rhino looks like its just got the tip of something about to poke out. the other one looks like the right shape too but cant quite tell yet

im trying to get the OG rooted as a clone. soaked rockwool cube in ph 5.5 for 15 mins then same again with clonex cloning solution. cut the plant, immediately in to clonex+ph5.5 water for 10 mins while i snipped the end of a couple of leaves, then in to clonex gel for 10, then in to the rockwool. no idea what i am doing, but nothing to lose since the top was only going in the bin anyway

they barely noticed the the cut. i got around to rigging up the automatic pumping system for the waste water. no more manual on/off... ill test a bit but i think the system is ready to run by itself. just needs daily checking on the res pH

hydro halos are much better than the dripper ring i was using

just need to whack a frame together for a scrog net now

really happy with the automatic pumping system and these trays for draining...

oh yeah, the plants looking ok too. tiny bit of burn showing. current mix is: ph5.8 / EC 0.9

80L0.2EC water
50mlRYZO
50mlBAC A
50mlBAC B
25mlBAC Nitrogen
10mlBloom Silica (potassium silicate)
50mlMultizyme
5mlDrip clean

thinking about removing the silica, not sure..

ive smoked for years and i never understood the term skunk properly until i touched a leaf this morning and smelled my hands after!

banged up a shit attempt at a scrog frame, but it does the job

plants were suffering a bit from mag deficiency - i wasnt sure if it was due to low ph in the coco or something else

flushed it out at 5.8 and waited, no improvement. added 0.1EC more base nutes, ever so slight improvement, added 0.2 calmag and added a bit more water to keep the EC at 1.1.

after the calmag i can see improvement within ~9 hours, thank fuck. gets stressful when you start wondering if its lockout

looking good this morning. the big dog has poked through the net already, stems looking beefy

theyve been under lights for 28 days since poking through from seed.

not sure when i should turn them.. any advice? how do you decide when to change to 12/12?

mag deficiency was still showing so threw another 0.1EC of calmag in there - thats 0.2EC tap water with 0.2calmag

started feeding 3 times a day @ 1.2EC with the automated setup - working like a charm

ill be swapping the 2x400w out for 2x600w 400v Philips and moving to 12/12 this weekend, 1 week ahead of schedule but they are going to be too big otherwise. they are stinking already too... hope the carbon filter holds up!

There are a few criteria for when to flip, are they healthy going into flower, is your structure where you want it to be, is the tent almost full or in your case, the scrog. Usually the bigger determining factor indoor is headroom. Considering the plant can double in height, you can measure how much room you have for your light at the max height, minus the distance 12-18" from light to plant. This will leave you with the max height your plant can be.

But with your scrog setup I believe most people fill 3/4 of the net and then flip. With the net you can prevent any vertical growth by continuing to tuck and weave to your hearts content without headroom worries.

last attempt at cloning didnt take. having another go with a heat mat this time. took two clones of the OG, 1 of the medium sized rhino and 2 of the big dog

fingers crossed i can keep the OG kicking!

trained the plants a bit on the net as well. crazy how fast it is growing from 3 feeds a day. id flip them right now if i didnt have to change the globes out to the 600w HPS! wont have time/motivation for that until the weekend. have to pop the ducting off the cool tubes. pain in the ass.

That's looking really good! What are they only 5 weeks from seed?

cheers man. 35 days from seed

put the new lights in and also put a little heater in there with a thermostat to keep it above 15 deg C. im worried its going to drop too low without lights during 12/12 in winter

now ive got to decide how to feed em during flower... lots of opinions on pk boosting hard to know what to do

Maybe running your lights at night will protect against the cold

ive got them running at night now but the location in the house means it is hovering around 16 deg during the day when the lights are off and its not even the middle of winter yet. i got the little heater + thermostat running this arvo for the first time and i can see its keeping it 18 deg constant at lights out - hopefully it holds up

I think I need to suss out an automatic watering system like yours to get multiple feeds per day. Can't wait to see them in flower

it was pretty easy to put together and i highly recommend it. digital timer for the feeds and a small bilge pump and float switch for the drainage - about $100 all said and done

feeds for me now are just checking the ph in the morning and before bed. ill flush them when they look like they need it, but im giving them pretty generous runoff every time so seems to be going ok for now

id like to automate the whole thing if i can. ive got the temp and humidity feeding wirelessly from 3 points in the tent

im already looking in to how i can ph down in to the res automatically. want to order an arduino, gravity analog ph sensor, peristaltic pump and an agitator pump to make life super easy - i should prob wait til i get a harvest in before i keep pissing away $$ though
