Ask Us Anything: Sharing Knowledge 420 Style

g'day 420ers,
I recently harvested some intentionally grown seeds, do I need to wait any time before germinating or should they be ready to go straight away?

Cheers,
Juz420

Your post is a little confusing but some people choose to germinate in water and others choose to plant in direct soil. I went in direct soil for a while until I learned to appreciate the finer points of warm water germination. Imo water based germination has a higher success rate as opposed to direct soil application.

Let them dry for a few weeks and you will see a 95% success rate. Whenever I have tried to germinate seeds straight away I get a miserable success rate. This makes sense as in the wild once seeds drop from the plant they would not survive the winter if they germinated straight away.

How much are people pruning when there in flower, iv recently seen a timelaps video of there grow and they looked as if they only kept bud leaves on the plant after they pruned, from 20 secs in you will see what im talking about.

So should i wait till around week 4-5 when fruits are starting to bulk up to then defoliate heavy?

Already lolly popped them and tied a few branches back but there still dense with foliage.

Not sure what’s going on.

5x5 room
1 600 Watt HID
1 200 True Watt Cheap LED
Soil grow
Smart pots
Plenty of ventilation, good air circulation
Average temps are 79’ F
Last 2 feeding have been plain water to correct what I thought may have been too heavy a nute mix
today 1 tsp of cal-mag and 2 tsp of tiger bloom
No PH strips to test run off

Any idea what these yellow/white clumps are? This is the third plant to get them -- all different strains, all different breeders. Even different media and feed solutions! The first two, I destroyed because I thought they were male parts on a plant turning hermie. This one, I decided to let grow for a while to see what happens. The clumps first start to appear 7-10 days after flipping to 12/12. Almost all the buds have them. They appear mostly on the tops, but on some buds, I see some clumps developing on the sides.

Grow Environment
36x20x62-inch grow tent
480-watt Growant LED (G3HiPAR GR480)
medium = coco coir
pot = 3-gallon felt
36" oscillating tower fan for in-tent circulation
8-inch duct fan for exhaust with carbon filter
6-inch intake fan
Average daily temp is 77°F
Average daily RH is 62%
Nutes: Advanced Nutrients SensiBloom for Coco @ full strength (1T A/B per gal) plus 1-1.5ml Mammoth P / gal
Not pH testing the feed because Sensi products are self-adjusting
Feed: 60-80oz per day, very little or no run-off

TIA for any help!

How far away is your light? It could just be light bleaching or whatever. It does look weird though. I have the gr240 and it’s really strong in the very center so it wouldn’t surprise me. It doesn’t look like male parts to me at all. Good Luck.

Thanks for the reply. The light is currently 11-16" from the top buds, but that's of course post-stretch. It was a good 22" above the plant when the blobs first started growing. :hmmmm:

Ahhhhhhh! So maybe my light is too intense for this tent. I might be able to raise it a few more inches, but I don't have a lot of height to play with. Some of the buds that have the clumps are on the outside edge, not directly below the lamp. And one of the few buds to have no clumps is right next to a clumpy one.

Oh -- I forgot to mention that not every plant that grows in this tent under this light gets the clumps.

Eureka!

I have a Mars-Hydro 480 in the veg tent, and the GroWant 480 in the flower tent. The GroWant says the lamp needs to be at least 18" above the plant (oops), but the Mars-Hydro says it should be 10-16" above during flower.

So swapping the two lamps should do the trick! :cheer:

Week 4 Day 5 flowering Skunk Kush. Kindly asking for a general plant review for any tips and advice for my plants thus far
