Arctic Bowl's 1st Ever Attempt At A Grow Journal

hey arctic i had a quick question 4 ya wen u put the babies into ur 1gal do u also use docs hb in the smaller containers if so how do they end up workn for ya i had heard the smaller containers didnt do so well for a los mix??

Morning Blazin,
Yes we use the HB in the #1 as well and they do very good in them. With Docs gear, and photoperiod beans anyway you want them to get root bound in the ones prior to up potting to recommend at least #7. We went with 10's and one 7 this go at it and they are doing fantastic. If we had better and longer summers here I'd try a huge pot outdoors, like swimming pool size (1000 gallon) lol, always wanted to try and grow a tree :-)

Blessed Buds our friend and be well :passitleft:

Arctic, your buds look amazing.

Out of curiosity, do you live in Alaska?
Morning Alaska420907,
Thank you for the kind words! Yes we live here in North Pole, ready for this winter snow stuff to be done with lol. Enjoying more daylight this time of year but need more heat from it to melt this snow faster :-). You around these parts?

Arctic Bowl - you wouldn't happen to have a 400 watt light setup laying around would ya??

Don't have a 400 that's not in use ( in the 4x4 tent over clones) but have a few 600's cool tubes that are on the shelf. Trying to move to all LED but not all the way there yet :-), by summer we will have the last few LED lights, don't want all that heat to deal with. We vented the cool tubes but then we couldn't keep up with humidity, you know the drill lol.

Lol in my case low humidity is a problem. I know once my plants get a lot bigger and hold more water that it probably won't be an issue, but for now I have to run a humidifier at full speed 24/7 and am barley at 50% RH.

As far as the 600 watt goes that's way to much for my 3 little guys in my 3x3x6.5 tent. And another issue I noticed tonight is that I don't really have anywhere to vent the heat that any type of HID light is going to put off. Right now I'm using a big 250 watt CFL in a white wing reflector. I think instead of going HID I'm going to get a 300 watt 6500k cfl for veg, and when I'm read to flower I'll throw the 2700k 250 back in.

I'm only growing 3 plants, and being as I'm limited by ventilation (trust me, I considered cutting a hole in the closet ceiling and venting into the boiler room above me) I think cfl is going to be my best bet unless I can find a smoking deal on a GOOD led setup.

Are you using LED? If so how do you like them?

Sorry I'm tired. You are using LED's. Anyone's in particular you'd recommend? I'm not looking to spend a million bucks but I'll have a couple hundo to play with here thus coming week or so...

Hey AK thank you :-)

We're loving this high Brix soil so far and really are enjoying how easy it is to use. We were using the fox farm nuets and they worked well but, so much less to mess with in kit soil. Takes a little to get use to not mixing up so many different things but a good thing we think anyways. Plants are happy and that's our goal, happy healthy girls.

Plants look awesome, good stuff! I am currently in fox farm and have been eyeing Doc Bud's kit, can't wait to try high brix growing.

Heya Alaskan420907, we just looked around on the rain forest site and picked up a few that we thought were good enough for us. Lol we can't be buying those $1,000.00 lights either. Lots of folks are having good results with like the 300 mars led lights and they are not very expensive.

Heya NAZZ, thanks for the kind words! The FF gear is good stuff, just too many parts to it for us. Once you give Docs gear a go, your more than likely gonna feel the same, it's just plain superior gear and very easy to use. Plus, if you have a question on what something means or what you should do next the entire HB gang and Doc himself will help you thru. We're loving Docs gear and I haven't seen or heard of anyone not liking it or not growing some amazing plants in it, hope you do give it a go, we can say, it's the best gear we've used and we're going to stay with it.

Got a few pics today, the girls that got put in flower last weekend are doing really great and the clones got moved to soil last night and are looking good. Clones had killer roots in just under 2 weeks.

This was are 1st time cloning and we were not very hopeful they would do there thing but thanks to all our fellow growers giving a helping hand they look to have made it.
Bulk kit ordered and its on the way, we need to get more soil cooking for our indoor fun as well as for the green house. This kit soil has us sold!!! Can't wait to grow some nutrient dense veggies with a nice high Brix, mmmmmmm.

I'm new to this but what I've managed to keep going on my first time looks good, in my opinion. 9 days in flower

Hey Alaskan, from another Alaskan: with your small grow (so are mine), I highly recommend the Mars 300 for around $70 from Amazon. Each unit will replace 6 23Watt CFLs. The penetration is phenomenal, compared to the CFL's I used to use. Shipping is free to AK, and they deliver right to your door.

I started off cheap, and I continue to run cheap, with passive ventilation, and lots of fans.

I've decided on the Mars 600. Thank you .
