Another Brix In The Wall: Sweet Pink Stink & Coked Out Girl Scout

Thanks you guys! I know it's way to high but my dehuey is running continuously and is 2 or 3 feet from the tents. The garage is very poorly insulated which is part of the problem. I'll crank up the AC to see if that helps. The intake duct, should I position right at the top of the dehuey where warm, seemingly dry air comes out?

On my intake fans, I have 8-10 feet of ducting, I had the flower one hooked to the front of my AC in case the tent needed cooled down which it does not, if anything it needs heated up to deal with that high rh better, so was wondering if I moved the end of the intake ducting close to the top of the dehuey where warm air comes out of.

I did turn on the AC and moved the intake ducting away from the AC but still a few feet from the dehuey, both units are right next to each other. When the lights go on, I may see if putting the intake duct on the dehuey helps reduce rh without increasing temps too much, I have 5-7 degrees to play with.

I thought about building a box around the dehuey which should get the rh in the box down very easily, then draw air from that box....? That's probably too much heat though!

Ween,...your DeHuey is designed to take surrounding air 'in' , then exhaust warmer , drier air 'out'. keep that exhaust air away from the area. The AC unit functions very similar but has a chilled coil that cools that exhaust air...both units exhaust warmer air out as their by product. Not sure you can use them the way you are intending bud. They are fighting each other...know what i mean?

Now I'm confused, if the dehuey exhausts warmer drier air, then why should I keep it away from the area? Do you mean away from the AC or the tents? The AC is a window unit so warmer air is exhausted outside. The dehuey drains out that same window but I could put it on the other side of the room with some work, I just don't have any faith that it is helping lower the rh in my very large, poorly insulated, very humid garage. The good news is, I just went it to check it and it seems cooler and possibly drier in there, all of my meters are in the tents and lights are out so well see later for sure. Fingers crossed.

Duggan means for the average person that may have heat issues already would not want the warm exhaust of a Duey adding to their problem. Other other hand in your case you want the few degrees of heat, the Duey could be beneficial to your goals. Just have to make sure your RH stays where you want it.

A/C turns warm moist air into cool dry air.

A dehuey turns cool moist air into warm dry air.

A humidifier turns warm dry air into cool moist air.

And a vent fan screws everything up. :)

Thanks Beam! So far I am not havng much luck. Got rh down to 71 in bloom and 63 in veg.

Thanks Gray! I thought this post was going to solve my problem, thinking AC turns warm air cool and dry I turned off the dehuey and left the AC on with only minor improvements so far. I thought the AC was on all day but the little breaker in the plug or reset button, whatever it is had tripped so it's only been on for about an hour. The AC is rather underpowered for the space but the intake duct is near the front of the AC, checking rh and to make sure temps don't get too low.

I don't think this is gonna work. Should I get a small dehuey and put in the tent and use the AC to keep temps down? I really don't want to ruin this crop!

Thanks Duggan! I will try to get it down even a little further, say 55, for good measure. My issue is I'm already using all of the tools at my disposal, I can aim that intake duct a little better so it sucks in more of that warm dry air. I'd rather not buy a small dehuey to fit in the tent but will if I have to. The main problem with that is emptying the water since the smaller ones generally don't have the drain option. Some day, I'll just build a nice insulated grow shed with AC, heat, Huey, dehuey and controller. :surf:

Things are better but I have to check many times per day. Today rh in the garage was down pretty low until we got a rain storm and right back up it went. I had the dehuey and AC on for a good portion of the day because when I checked the temp this am it was 85 with lights out. moved the intake duct over close to the AC. When the lights went on, temp was about 78 and rh was 70 so I turned off the AC and moved the intake duct back over to the top of the dehuey and positioned the veg tent intake there too, went to dinner and when I got back flower tent was 51rh and 88f veg tent was 31 rh and 98, OOOPS, moved that intake duct a little away. I won't explain what is going on each day but know this is a Major PITA (hi major!)

My bloomers are doing ok with all that is going on, I have two major concerns though, I'm still pulling off a bunch of dead leaves from down below, what is odd about them is they look completely dead and dry but don't come off easily like a yellow leaf does, 2nd is a good portion of the cogs are really floppy, bent over weak stems with not much weight on them yet, are these both symptoms of the high rh and not so ideal temps?

I need to be able to control the environment better! I've been keeping my eyes out for a used shed.

I hope you all are having a better time with high temps and rh.

Thanks Stage! I guess out happens to the best of us.

My second Sugar Cane (fem) is very tall with lots of space between nodes, could this indicate its a male?
