Another Brix In The Wall: Sweet Pink Stink & Coked Out Girl Scout

There is something about the name Star Pupil that I think makes us connect with them a little more than the others or maybe it's their unique structure or sheen...?

I have some clones in rapid rooters with roots poking out but can't do anything with them for about a week. Can I leave them in those rapid rooters or should I get them in small pots of soil ASAP?

Thanks!

Doc mentions trimming the roots once or twice while in rapid rooters. I have done it and it does not seem to hurt them but help them out. I would just make sure to spray some half strength de-stress on them so they get some nutrients while waiting for soil.

Hi Gang!

Yes, Doc has said that. I notice if I don’t do that, I get long “water” roots, which are different from the fine roots we get in our soil. It may have something to do with that:cool:

I am gonna have to try this. I have 21 different rooted clones in plugs. I was gonna see if I can stall them another 38 days. That's when I will be chopping the moms and can decide who makes it to the next round of judges cuts.

Love your Avatar Kitchenhawk. Loved those old cartoons and Fog Horn Leg Horn was one of my favorites.

"I say, I say come here boy!"

"I keep my feathers numbered for just such an emergency"

And I loved watching him mess with that dog! Ah good memories!

Thanks Yeti! I'm going to try to get them in soil ASAP. I still don't even have a solid plan for them.
I know that I will run them on 24/0 for at least a week so they don't have 1 bladed leaves when I put them outside but approximately how big should they be whe I put them out or does it not matter much?

Thanks!

I am unsure how they will fair for that long. What do you run for soil? If you do not run the kit YMMV. I am sure you can get away with one root trimming though. I have seen hydro growers that had have to prune roots on their plants and it did not slow them down all that much.

7 of 8 clones had roots. I put all 8 in soil. Talk about pre flowers on the COGS! It's like she is in full on flower mode!

You had plenty of time to put off putting those in soil bud. If they were already under 24/0 then the preflowers are probably from low light intensity. Its a little late in the outdoor season to put things out. Especially that small. You can probably get them to the end just do not expect big yields is all bud.

@TheGreenYeti I use Happy Frog for soil. I kept clones in the plugs for 30 days last run no issues, no trimming of roots. Roots just got to be 6-8 long. If it looks like they won't fair that long I will throw them in some solo cups for a couple weeks. Most of the 21 are destined for the chopping block, so I'm really just being a cheap bastard and not wanting to waste any unnecessary soil. Plus I always feel bad killing plants once they are in soil. It's like I gave them false hope of the good life just to snip their heads off.

Thanks bud! I know roots don't like light so thought it may have been bad to leave them like that. They are not on 24/0 yet. I started them on 16/8 with my other veg girls. The COGS have always had pre flowers galore! Maybe I'll put em out, maybe I'll bust out the extra 4x4 or maybe I'll cull em. Thanks!

I feel ya bud! I dislike killing plants after I have them going. I even have a hard time killing males. i always consider collecting pollen until I remember I have no where to do it without risking everything else lol! I have had plants in my cloning tray for quite a while and had them survive if not thrive. It is hard to keep them happy after a certain amount of time in there though that is all.

You are welcome bud. If nothing else let them do their thing outside just to see what you can get! Nice little side experiment.

Hi Ween, just stopped in for a toke or two
:passitleft:
Things looking Just fine over here

Thanks Dopy! Take as many tokes as you like, there is plenty sweet pink stink and coked out Girl Scout to go around! :passitleft:

Pretty cool to see all the roots coming out of that plug

Hey KB! I hope you're doing well! Yeah, the roots on some of the others were significantly longer too.

An update coming soon.

Just got back from vaca. I was a little worried about the girls, 4 in full bloom, 1 very new seedling, 3 well established seedlings, 1 in veg for ever but was a runt and she is ready for more soul and 8 clones. 2 of the clones wilted pretty bad but everyone else looks good! I fed/watered on Saturday. My Star Pupil is looking funky! My Crinkle Puss is looking really good. Early onset frost for cogs. Pics of all plus one of the view from our balcony,it was the spot for smoking high brix weed.
