Amy Gardner’s High Brix Dreams

Hiya Amy G,

Glad to hear infused cannabis oil (indica?) is helping somewhat with your sleep. At least it's a start and hopefully you'll find a way to make it work better. I made some sleep oil and it works really well for me. I now get 7.5-8 hrs every night. Helps tremendously! But, of course, I haven't been diagnosed with ME. I feel so sorry for you. I would seriously miss my sleep! Cya.

Thanks @Bode - my sleep is waaay better now than it used to be :) And last night I got 7 hours, and maybe I woke once - but not for long, as I only kind of remember it.

Yes the sleep oil is from a cross of Afghani x Critical Mass (Afghani x Skunk #1) - so its a heavy hitting indica that’s for sure. I cannot toke on it  Far out it puts me totally on my arse and doesn’t give me a pleasant stone when vaped - and usually a nice headache the day after. Makes killer pain oil though and now, hopefully this sells oil is a keeper!

How’re things for you Bode?

I think that joint rolling is like falling off a bicycle, something you never forget! I think there was a 35+ year gap between my joint rollings and I did it like I had never stopped :).

Nice to hear the roar!
My sister taught me to roll a joint with oregano.. I think I was 13. :rofl:When I learned to roll a perfect one, I was ready for the real deal. Guess that's why I became a chef! Lol

I remember once, I must have been about 12, nicking of with my brothers tobacco pouch to hide out and practice rolling... It was a long time before I smoked anythgin, I was just fascinated by the rolling ;)
I remember smoking tea once with my sister... it was awful! Oregano would’ve been better

Haha! Well thankfully I never smoked the oregano, but my parents must have wondered why I smelled like a Greek restaurant! Lol

Hiya Amy G,

So glad the oil is allowing you to sleep better. I remember making my night oil from an indica (and I don't usually smoke indica) that I grew and just stashed, so now I found a use for it. I like it when things like that happen!! I also use the cannabis left over from the infused oil process. I made some pesto a couple days ago, and thought how much the pesto looked like the spent cannabis. So I blended a teaspoonful into the pesto and was still very good. What a buzz after it hit. Not so much indica leaning stone, somewhat energetic. Maybe I just needed to work outdoors just to allow the thc to run it's course. In all honesty, that was quite a lot.
Things with me are fine. Life is managable. I'm 67, still have 8 cord of wood on the ground, painting the house this year, and work a couple jobs on the side. So you know the excess cannabis goes to allow me to continue without osteoarthritis pain. Somewhat challenging managing a limited energy level amongst the chores that need to be done. I believe you would know something about that! And I'm still having fun in all of this, so I'm good. Thanks for asking. :hugs::hugs::hugs::hugs::hugs:
So, how are things with you, Amy?

Thank you for reminding me Derbybud. I have made some topical lotion infused with cannabis. It does work great! Ingesting the oil (not the lotion) seems to work better for me.

Try throwing some fresh cannabis leaves into the pesto, too. The THCa from the uncooked raw leaves is super healthy too. I grill boneless chicken breasts dipped in olive oil. Take them off the grill and cut in strips and throw it into my pesto and toss while the strips are still warm. Serve it warm as is or chill it and put it over a salad! Yum yum!

Thank you for that, Lady G. Actually, what I did, was grill chicken kabobs (hibachi) and added more olive oil to the pesto and used as a barbeque sauce. OMG it was sooooo good. Never thought of putting on after cooked. We also had onion cubes, bell pepper chunks, and pineapple on the sticks too. Blended so well with the pesto. I've also used pesto as a salad dressing thinned with olive oil again. I could make a meal from just pesto!!

Mmm ... thinking about food now :p and eating cannabis :yummy:

One of our recent delights is stinging nettle pesto. Big yum and super good. Stinging nettle loses its sting as soon as you cook it - or toss it into boiling water - and it has mega nutrients for us, as well as our plants (my outdoor LOS grow last year I used nettle for drenches and foliars - it literally has just about everything in it). Plus is grows wild.

It’s amazing the way you can get me drooling over foods while talking non vegetarian options @LadyGaea. Usually the instinctive response turns away, but your enticing descriptions have me there going mmmm before I realise it’s meat we’re talking about  - ne’r mind... at that point I substitute haloumi or something ;)

So, how are things with you, Amy?

Pretty stable thanks. I am at a pretty low functioning level, but have a decent routine going. And it includes tending a plant growing about 4 steps from my bed, which really helps keep my spirits up.

I get so much joy from growing its mind blowing. Such a powerful thing. I’m super relived by how easy this high brix kit is - it really is a dream for the physically challenged! Apart from mixing the soil - I got help for that - I’ve hardly had to do a thing.

It is not easy to cope with feeling like this everyday. Even lately while I have been enjoying much better mood states, I’m so over all the symptoms - like always having a bad flu plus jet lag, and the sound and light hyper sensitivity . I’ve reached a very interesting place with it though. Yesterday for example - and this will be a blend of on topic and off topic - I had a beautiful canna oil bath. It was delicious! My therapeutic baths usually involve a large amount of Epsom salts and a few drops of Lavender and Rosemary essential oils. So yesterday, I added a sploosh of my topical oil - so I had an Afghani x Skunk bath :slide:. The sensation of the oil was great and it didn’t take long afterwards for it to soak in. Plus, the water was super oily at first, and much less oily when I got out - which I’m interpreting to mean that it was soaked into me.

So the curious thing that happened was that for the first time in ages I had a collapse afterwards. I may have got the water too hot in my excitement, I don’t know. But this used to happen after (or during) every bath and shower - I get so dizzy (even if sitting or lying) and all the function leaves my muscles. So I had to lie down on the floor for about 20 mins or so before I could move well enough to dry and dress. I used to find this quite distressing, as you’d expect. But yesterday, while it was intense, my partner and I kind of took it in stride, and once the seriousness had eased, and even tho’ I still needed to stay down for a bit (man nearly passing out while already lying down is a strange sensation), we chatted a bit about other things and just kInd of relaxed while it passed. This is part of things becoming the ‘new normal’ in a way. But I want to reject parts of that thinking because I don’t expect this to be my normal for ever - but not panicking about it is a relief. I also think it reflects my headspace being a bit better - we can only hope after 2 years of this hey :). Being more relaxed within a little physiological crisis like that also meant that I had my head together enough to ask for salty water - I’m told these collapses are bout low blood volume and I’ve started drinking saltwater to help with that (is really does too - I’m a mermaid :battingeyelashes:). In future I might start having the salted drink before baths and showers.

So on the cannabath oil, yep - really good pain killing effect. Similar to rubbing it on, but all over and all at once. :slide: And it lasted maybe a bit more than 2 hours, so just as you’d expect from the 2hour reapplication window we’ve all been finding with the topicals. Some of the pain I have to deal with is in the muscle tissue - like it feels like muscles are torn all the time. Well, I’ve just been using the oil for my joint pain so far, and after that bath, I’ll be using it on those muscles too - it wiped it out almost completely for a little while. Sweet relief!

So maybe my growers joy is also because my body knows about all this relief that’s coming from it - on top of the pure joy in growing such vibrant and powerful living thing.

I’m getting ready to do a little update on my beautiful Blue. It’s totally powering. Lights just came on so I’ll get a couple of fresh photos and get that cracking. It’ll take me a couple of hours... I’m slow, and I want to use the new camera again.

:Namaste: beautiful 420 family :hugs:

Hot water raises your blood pressure (which is why they advise not to spend too long in hot tubs), and the mere act of standing up to get out changes the pattern of blood flow down to the legs leaving the head without the blood it needs. Hot showers will do it too when the heat stops.

I have post-exercise hypotension which means that as soon as I raise my blood pressure (from exercise or anything else...lifting something heavy, hot tubs, working in the sun), my blood pressure drops and I have to lie down immediately for 30 minutes, ideally with my legs elevated but flat will do. It used to freak me out but now that I know what's happening I try to go with the flow. Just like you!

:Namaste:

Hiya Amy G,

It will always be amazing to me about the theraputic effect of a well maintained cannabis plant. My garden this year is suffering from neglect somewhat because of my workload, but is still pleasing to look at. This is my first year with compost bin, comfrey for compost, cold frame, and is still a work in progress, lol. Sizeable learning curve with organic gardening. But much fun!
Do you ingest cannabis oil? I can't remember if you do or not (or anything else). I do, and it relieves aches and pain for several hours at a time. And I have a little vial with an eyedropper to carry with me if I'm going to be gone for a long time (a day). Food for thought.
Great news about your bath with canna oil. A real bummer about the muscle thing afterwards. I'm glad you may have a solution. Taking responsibility for yourself. Very nice for you. Waiting on your update. Cya

post-exercise hypotension
Exactly - so I get this just when I stand up, sometimes that’s all it takes - 5 minutes on my feet. SO I have the grow set up so that I sit or kneel pretty much all the time - and then the lying down posture is easily and quickly attainable :thumb: I’m up to being able to stand a bit longer these days - but I always sit down in the shower regardless. That’s one of those funny things actually that I’ve discovered since having this to deal with - honestly everyone should sit down in the shower! It’s so relaxing.

Definitley - although I’m using it in tincture form so i do what’s called tacking, where it goes under the tongue and stays there until it soaks in. I need to experiment a little with ingestion. Ive discovered in the past that 11 hydroxy THC - which is what it becomes when you ingest (via the body’s processing factory) - does not agree with me. WHen you smoke, vape, or take as tincture sublingually, it remains delta 9 THC and that seems to agree with me just fine. I’ve never been a big edibles person. But I haven’t experimented much - yet! The unpleasant feeling i think i get from it is, well, unplesant so I’m reluctant to try any new ways until i’m Feeling a bit better overall.

The CBDCC oil that I take reduces pain levels in general, quite well - at least to a manageblae level day to day. :thumb: I take about .5ml about 6 times a day.

Pics are uploaded - someone is bringing me a cup of tea. SO the update will land after that... :peace:
