Alex's First Grow- Blue Cheese & Himalayen Blue

that would suk! we don't have that problem here. the utility company is more than happy to take my money with no questions asked!

btw...what do you pay for electricity over there?

yeah it makes for a paranoid grow lol, i think electrics more expensive here, for my self im on a pre payment meter i dont no if use have those over there, basicly u take your electric key to the shop, put money on it, push it in the meter and use the credit, unfortunitly its the most expensive price plan i pay 14.9p per kw, if you pay monthly for electric it can be as cheap as 8p per kw

your 14.9p/kwh is very cheap by comparison to my location. a portion of my bill is at .44/kwh or 29.5p/kwh. I am on a Smartmeter which wirelessly transmits my energy usage to the utility provider on a minute by minute basis.

similar here in Spain at 11.5 cents plus tax (16%)

Ironically water is cheaper here where it rarely rains than UK where is doesnt stop

yes on a police crack down documentry on bbc1 (english tv) it stated it, i dont think it happens much but its deffs happening over here. started because 1 single electricity reader went to messure someones electric meter and thought it was way way to high, he mentioned it to his superior and it went from there

That was major difference to the rest of the street tho and must have had several 1000 hps lights on 24 hrs. Just foolish. He could/shold have used generators maybe eh.(?)

A 400 watt hps on 24 hrs cost me about 25 euros last month

3 lions....yeah it must of been a huge difference, i think iv worked my electricity out to be £1.50 is a day while on 18 hours, using 10.8kw a day, when you look at it that way its a very small price to pay with the poss rewards,
Hoggdady.... thats ridiculos!!!! thats double the price of the most expensive english electric, just think if you were growing here your costs would be halfed! or even be 1/3 the price if you chose to pay monthly

good night every1, a question for you to answer for me if you please :) you no the timers that you plug in to turn lights on nd off at exact times? iv seen on ebay specific ones for grow lights, very expensiv!!!! i was under the impresion that the balast transforms everything electric so there for the plug you put in the socket is no diff to that of a table lamp? but the adds on ebay say that with using high wattage you cant use a regular timer. is this right? just i can buy a normal one for £5 or these specific ones for £25

if the ballast is 120 with 120 plug then you can use the regular timers. You need the heavy duty for the 240's but they are more efficient.

Forgot you were across the pond, but should be the same principle. Just different shaped plugs right?

Good Luck! :rollit:

your 600w light/ballast will only draw about 3 amps, so you can use one of the lower priced models for switching household lighting. here is an example of what you can use...
24 Hour Plug In Time Switch, Only 4.99 | Time Switches | Ryness Lighting and Electrical

standard household voltage in england is 220/240 vac @ 50 hertz.

Yeahh, I bought two different times, one for the fans n stuff and one for the lights. The higher resistance one was about 15 euros, compared to about 7 for the other. 25 is too steep

oh well iv got one now £7.99 :)when i come to re pot my plants into bigger pots is it ok to change the soil for a better quality soil in the larger pots? iv found a hydroponics retailer about 20 miles away and they stock the specific soils and nutes and everything for growing Mj, so im thinking of buying the best i can as long as my plants wont be harmed by the change? obviously im not re potting yet, just for future reff

often it is a case of you get what you pay for and growing is no different , better soil is usually better yields. However there are things to consider, some soil will be perfect and others not. See if they have a branch online and then you can let us know what they stock etc. You should be able to get the 'Canna' range over there, the best as far as many of us are concerned in Europe, Hollands finest, need I say more? They also have a very useful website if you search for the uk version of it, recommended.

there u go then, sorted ;-) told u the Canna range the popular one. I have pro, pro + the one if money no object.

the seedling mix must be bought for the seedlings and will last a while of course.
