It's common practice to run autos 20/4.
You don't absolutely have to.
Some members run autos with their photos 12/12.
But to maximize an auto it's recommended 20/4.

Yeah no reason to skimp on hours of light as they can take up to 24 and still flower just fine

Depends on the strain also
I ran this auto clone on 18/6 in my veg room & when it got to big I put it in the corner of my 12/12 room

I guess it would have got bigger with more light

My monster outdoor auto never got full sunlight till after 11
