AKGramma's Harlequin Soil Grow Fall 2018

5 weeks and 2 days since switch:

The pistils on Miss Afghani are starting to look tired. She's on the downhill side to harvest.

Pistils are very very short on Lady Harley, but have not turned amber yet. It's like they are being "sucked in".

When inspecting Miss Afghani's buds, I spotted some seeds. So she DID get some pollen from the male Harleys. Is there already a name for

Afghani x Harlequin?

Harleghani sounds good

I posted this on Sweet Sue's Relocates journal:

I'm going to have at least 500 pure Harlequin seeds in a couple months! Well, pure isn't the word for it, because some of the offspring will be heavy on different ancestral combinations.

I'll keep the leaves, stems, roots, (for herbs) and seeds totally separate from other stores I have on hand. Since I mix the ground-up herb, genetic variations of the Harley offspring should even out in the final product.

I am looking forward to using the Harley in cooking and as a tincture. I've never tried a high CBD/low THC strain.

Brainstorming with TS on the Questions forum... Best guess for a name for Afg x Har = Afghar.

Both strains are very sticky at his stage, all over the buds and sugar leaves. 39 days after switch.

I'm very pleased with both pregnant ladies. (Miss Afghani and Lady Harley).

:yummy:

Hopefully it will be well balanced

Since we see a lot of strains with Afg as an ancestor, I expect that it will be an interesting mix, def more vigor and more THC, but I'm hoping that there will still be a high CBD content from the male, as well.

LOL! That sure rolls off the tongue! Since the female is the Afghani, her name might need to come first. At least it does when naming the cross. Afg x Har.

But I HAVE seen common names where the male was named first, or names that were all mixed up, like AKDC47, one of my accidental crossings of AK47 x Durban Poison pollinated by White Castle. Quite an orgy in THAT grow! :yahoo:

Hmm Harleghani is growing on me...... TY Old Bear!

We're in a holding pattern as both ladies pass 6 weeks since the switch. Miss Harley's seeds are maturing, but not ready to fall off yet. Lady Afghani's seeds are filling out nicely. She didn't get as much pollen as Miss Harley, so she still has a lot of "virgin" buds.

I have the 8 week "Due Date" marked on my calendar for Miss Harley, but I think lady Afghani will take longer. She IS a landrace, so I don't know if they take longer than hybrids to mature.

Miss Harley's ancestry is a meld of 4 landraces.

Lady Afghani's offspring will be commonly named Harleghani, as suggested by Old Bear. :-) Afg x Har

Harleghani it is. :high-five:

Kinda heady, creating a new line, isn't it? I don't have the time, patience, or focus at this stage of my life. I'm more inspiration. Lol! Thankfully, all these brilliant brains that surround me are more enclined to explore genetics.

I've been hearing drumbeats on the Internet that a 3:1 THC:CBD is growing in popularity. I'm still appreciating soaring THC euphoria, but it'd be nice to try. I'm interested if the members trying a balanced ratio are finding it as relieving as the clinical data is telling us it is.

Can't wait to see you harvest a supply of seeds, I just broke up a bud of Chemdog and got 4 or 5 nice beans. The Chem was pollinated by a male Xmas Bud.

Hopefully you'll have more pregnant buds. What do you expect from the offspring?

My goal for the last 2 grows was to increase my supply of seeds. So I'm not too worried about bud quality. Unless I get some photo-worthy buds, everything not a seed, stem or root will be ground into herb or reduced enough to start a tincture.

And, thanks to you, Sue, I just may have created a new line, by accident. ;-)

The Harley x Harley is an exciting venture. With 4 direct landraces in HAR's lineage, the offspring will be ....... interesting. I dont have the room to inbreed many more times to come up with a stable pheno that matches the parents.
