Thanks Bill. Back in the 80s we had no still air box, our laboratory was our bathroom sprayed down with lysol. Far from ideal conditions. We used to lose lots of spawn jars from mold. I remember cooking straw in a huge pot and the whole apartment stinking like straw. Good luck in your endeavor. Have a great weekend buddy.

Looks like a 3rd flush may be beginning in the PM-X tub. A half-dozen shrooms were ready this morning so I picked them and they are drying in the oven. One had a good sized cap so I'm making a spore print from it. Cleaned up the cake a bit by removing more dead pins and aborts.

Thanks, CL! All my recent efforts were initiated with liquid cultures I made a year ago. Speaking of those cultures, I should probably refresh them before they expire.
Maybe I'll get them out of the fridge, warm and spin-mix them and see if they get denser, and maybe some tests in petri dishes to see if they are still good.

I definitely can feel the difference around a week after I dose in my mental clarity. It’s kind of like when you flush your cars radiator. All that old rust and stuff comes out. lol Happy Travels CL

I had to decontaminate a potato sack full of hay to make the base.
Now with the more modern methods it looks much easier.
Might just grab a few for now to see how I feel before I go through the work of my own.

Coco coir is beautiful when it comes to mixing to bulk. I also use rabbit poop!! They love it. I boil the poop and then when I pasteurize the coir it infuses the with the poop water!! They seem to like it!! Yours look awesome Becca!! Happy Tuesday!!

One final report and then I consider this diary complete and closed.

Both monotubs are done now, shut down a couple weeks ago and dumped into the potting soil bin. The BMC failed to contam first. The PM seems more resistant.

In terms of growing method, the All-In-One remains the hands-down best method to avoid contamination, but can't compare to any monotub larger than a shoebox in terms of overall yield.

Of the two varieties of Cubensis, I like the Purple Mystic better. Good yield, disease resistant, high potency... the PM is the winner in my book and it grows those cool looking pointy caps, lol!

I'm with you on the Purple Mystic.
Although, the Blue Meanie was a great producer for me and gave a couple more extra flushes. They were smaller than Purple Mystic overall. Tidal Wave was a good 2nd and third flusher too, but again..smaller.
Hope you get another shroom journal going soon.
