Advice please

Oh ok I thought you had an ec meter then your good. so I'm sure that chart is a guideline dont think about it as you have to be at the number for flowering it's a guideline your girls will tell you if there not happy so if your at 700ppm now every week up it a little if it starts to show signs of burn or growth slows down back off theres no specific set number that you should be at pennys chart is a really good guide but it's not set in stone your strain is gona respond different than another strain you should talk to @Emilya she really knows her stuff helped me out with a purpleing problem has alot more experience than me could probably explain much better or correct me if I was wrong.

@Emilya ya have that purpling issue, pretty much all in my upper fan leave's branches. Its come gone and come back. Ive read mixed reviews its your strain, its your environment temperature. So plz help is it bad or good?
It is usually nothing to worry about... a branch that has been stressed in one direction or another or that needs to withstand a constant breeze or any number of physical things, will send different kinds of cells to one side of a branch or the other, to bolster that area or somehow deal with the situation. It can be that a certain set of nutrients is being sent to that area, such as the top new growth. This specialization will often present to our observations as variations in color and are often indications that the plant has had to deal with something or is doing something special in that area, and it is usually beyond our ability to understand or react to the situation. Observe and try to determine the cause, but most of the time we have very little control over these things. If you see it happening only up at the top, that is your clue. It is probably a specialization to be able to handle the lights and heat up there or the special nutrient needs of the new growth. Your key is to note what the leaves are doing... if they are also reacting in some way, it is time to find a cause.

So what is you way of trial and error? Like reduce a nute or take out all together? Or change light strength again? I read that the fan leaves store sugar and i just started flwer like 3 weeka ago figured maybe it was moving nutes.
yes, some of the nutes can be moved within the plant, and some cant. At our level of understanding, not every little color change is going to have an explanation. We just have to observe the plant overall... do we see signs of stress or oddness... are there any color changes in the leaves? We look at how much lift there is in the leaves to indicate how strong our roots are, and we look to see if the leaves are contorting themselves for some reason. It is more than trial and error... I have a good idea what this plant normally does, and when it acts contrary to that, I look for reasons. I can tell by how the leaves are pointing or if they are cupping or canoeing, and I can tell by the overall color of the plant and the individual leaves if there is a problem. By looking at the entire plant and where a change is happening, it can be determined which nutrient is lacking or being over supplied. It is all about experience and knowing what to look for, and you will get that in time too. Most people start getting a good idea what they are seeing after 2 or 3 grows. Keep good records and take lots of pictures and keep journals so you can learn from what you encounter, and your feeling that you are doing trial and error will quickly go away. Ask lots of questions, and there are lots of friendly people out here who will try to help you as you come up to speed.

Ya i have a few good people helping me out here and it is only my 1st grow. Sometimes i feel like im asking way too much. But anyways ima take a look at home hopefully shes eating. @Emilya how and can 1st timers enter the monthly contest?
I am not sure of the exact rules, but I think that anyone with 50 posts is eligible to vote and enter. Someone will correct me if I am wrong and each contest states the rules right at the top too.

I dont think you can ask to much on here Lol if theres an issue theres always someone on here who's delt with it. I just watch the forums that's how i found out about other people having the purpling issue if you just stay withing this one journal your missing out on alot of help. The difference between my first grow in soil and my second in hydro is like day and night its out of control just takes some patience. Use the search engine too I looked up people who have grown the same strain that I have great white shark to see what they did an how it came out just my 2 cents.

Gotcha what was your issue with purpling? So my branches that didnt bounce back like the other times i super cropped, i splinted them and now they are fixed. But made a huge bubble where it made the repairs. Two of the pictures are older crop sites the biggest one is one i had done later and she wasnt eating so she didnt fix it for a few days.

I'm growing in fox farm soil and emilya explained that some micro nutrients need more of an acidic ph for uptake and fox farm is at the high end of the scale at 6.8ish i also ph at 6.5 so when I get into flower to lower my ph a bit to 6.2 just the low end of the range. She said that her first handful of grows she had the same issue an the ph adjustment stopped it so I'm in the process of doing that but beside the purpleing the buds look great..

pH out of your roots will change throughout cycle as it absorbs different nutrients in different relative rates. Gradual change is good as nutrients are more easily absorbed at different levels. It is large, frequent, or quick pH changes that can get you in trouble.

Try giving it a good thorough flush with the pH you want for a day or two then resume nutrients giving it what you want it to be. If you're trying to correct with nutrients I bump maybe .2/.3 of input. 5.8 to 6.2 isn't the end of the world as long as you keep adding 5.8. For whatever reason you're seeing a lot of swing.
