Advanced LED Demo Grow by Doc Bud

The model I have is the DIAMOND SERIES XTE 200 and it doesn't have any switches; just one each, veg and bloom dimmer knobs that turn down until they click off.

The plants do look good right now! I don't know what's up with that blue veg light, but the full spectrum bloom lights seem to be doing their job.

I had used the all blue lights for a while, and found that even though my plants seemed happy, it stretched my plants horribly compared to a mixed spectrum. Low and behold later after looking into spectrum research, it seems that others have determined that an all blue spectrum with no red will cause stretching.

I tried adding some "color" to the grow area, by adding a full spectrum light, but the growth and it eliminated the stretch, however growth now has slowed. I believe that i read somewhere that with a full/mixed spectrum, more than 25% blue will hinder growth and photosynthesis rates...

I also noticed when moving my plants from the "all blue" tent to a full spectrum tent, it caused a "lag" in growth as if the plants were confused of what was going on. It took a while before they adjusted to the full spectrum. I am looking to remove the all blue lights from my garden at the moment as I just couldn't find a good use for them. Might try them for cloning and rooting...

I am using the XTE lights though and they work amazingly well. I also use mine with both dials on full, except for when I take business trips and then I dial down the red to slow the photosynthesis rate and water uptake which works well when away for a week at a time.

Thanks for stopping by Ice!

Yep, I think your experience added to my brief observation pretty much sums it up.

The plants did not like the blue light. They do like the other lites, however.

Some significant events happened today under the Advanced Diamond series LED's.

First of all the gang looks like this:

I did second Cat Drenches on the Grape Ape

Did what I call an "early bloom pruning," which is when I make it so I can see dirt when I look straight down. I like the plants to open up as they grow, with no dark, dank shadowy spots under the canopy, etc. Here are Before/After sets of pics that show a little about the process

Finally, during the pruning process I got a big surprise:

It's a male flower, no pollen. I've never had this strain toss a nanner, let alone a male flower. However, it has been under stress for most of its life due to the blue veg light. They never did grow normally under that light and I had even number leaves, 3 bladed leaves and all kinds of trouble getting good shape and form with the plants.

Stress....not good for people or plants.

So, as of right now I do not give my endorsement for the blue veg light. I'm sorry. I gave it a good try and actually culled the first plants that I tried to grow under it but the second round had the same problems.

The bloom lights seem to be doing very well, except the plants are definitely smaller and the resin production at this point seems down as well. Things can change, so we'll watch closely in the coming weeks.

Again, these are strains I've grown before so I know exactly what should happen.

They better bro....I added 9000 BTU's of additional cooling, had to cut a hole in the wall the put the new unit, etc. These light put out heat so I'm hoping they also put out a decent yield and more importantly the kind of quality I demand.

I hear ya there, i know we all appreciate the ability ya got to test these lights.......having experience with these strains and excellent environment we really get to see what they can do.......:passitleft:

Hello Doc,

A quick story for you: I live in a legal state and am a caregiver for patients.....over the last year my patients have given me wonderful feedback such as "I'm now pain free," "I feel the best I have in years" etc.

Recently I have shared some of my harvest with my card carrying neighbor and several of his friends....his caregiver's harvest is spoken for every month and apparently this husband/wife/son growing team has a booming business...I met them recently and we exchanged grower information about each other: they are hydro growers using synthetic nutes and do not bud wash....their business is so brisk that they don't cure their buds for any length of time before it flies off the shelves....

Last nite my neighbor called me for some more of my harvest and admitted that he, his wife and his friends have all agreed that my harvest is some of the smoothest and tastiest smoke they have ever sampled....so much better then his caregivers which is so very harsh and bitter that the wifey can only make medibles with it and refuses to smoke it....one of their "older" friends, who is a real connoisseur, has told them the same. He says the dispensary meds are the same harsh and bitter smoke.....I was taken aback...of course I only smoke my own and have no reference point, so this was a pleasant surprise....

I came away not with a big head, but humbled, realizing that I just had my first "Doc Bud moment" like you have all the time, realizing that I am officially a high brix snob and other people feel the same way I do about my harvest.....it was a mile marker, Doc, thank you for that moment of joy....
