Ace Seeds - Panama

(Sprout 5/6, Topped 5/23, Photo 6/20, Flower 6/26, Harvest 9/4)

Some notes about my experience with Ace Seed's Panama.

I'm smoking it now, and it's quite nice, but let's start from seed, and work forward in time.

My singular Panama was germinated in a paper towel, and then grown out in soil. She was unremarkable in the first few days, but after two weeks, she picked up some speed and a nice shine. She did not require much care/nute at all in Veg. She seemed to be a bit N sensitive in Veg, as you can see by the pic below. The pic below was at just under 6 weeks Veg, and was the day before the flip at 18" with ~12 tops. Her pot was 3gal, with high porosity, and she yielded about 170 grams, with a 10 week flower.

After the flip, she really exploded. She had great vigor in Veg, but in transition she really showed her strength. She went a bit more than 200% in a manageable stretch, to 43'' or so. Other than the topping and some gentle arrangement, I let her do her thing. With my nutrients, I had to be somewhat careful about feeding her, but she took high levels of nutes, and didn't really complain much. I let her go 10 weeks, and she finished with 10% or better amber. She yielded very well for this type of plant, and her buds are just amazing. They may not look like it in the photos, but they are dense and have good weight to them. They are also beautiful to behold in person.

Grow impressions.

There is a lot of power and elegance in this genetic. The power you can see evidenced by the plants explosive growth, and structure. She is elegant in her manner of bud building. She will produce many sites at a rush, then takes her time filling them out. There is also something very special, that I cannot express, about this girl Growers that connect with their plants in a spiritual way, will likely fall in love with this girl - for a time.

Smoke Impressions.

Her aromas throughout the growth period are dominated first by skunk (Veg) and then by lemon (Flower). After cure, the finished product has an extremely pungent fresh lemon citrus front note, with a pine and earth background. The stucture of her buds is superb. It's easy to pull them apart to reveal densly packed calyx clusters, that are completely covered with resin. It's a very pleasant aroma when you handle them. Your fingers will know that you are handling some kickass herbs, as they will stick to whatever you touch afterwards.

At ignition, the lemon front note, all but disappears. It becomes this smooth chocolate, sweet earth taste, with some vanilla and spice - almost no lemon. It's a very full and round smoke, with depth to the flavor, but there's no hint of harshness.

When you take your first hit, the effect starts immediately. You can feel the fist wave, bleed the tension out of the corners of your eyes, and then it builds and moves toward the top and front of your head. After this effect settles, you will find that you are energized, focused, attentive, and yet mellow and relaxed. If you hit again, you will add euphoria to, and intensify these effects. This is the perfect plane of highness for me with this strain. Upping the dosage further is possible but the further you go, the more functionality you lose. If one goes too far, the clear headed and mellow high, will be replaced by an almost impossible-to-resist urge to sleep. I do recommend overindulging. This is a great feature of this strain. You can take 1-2 hits in the daytime and not get foggy or tired. At night, you can finish a bowl or two with your spouse, and enjoy a night that you may, or may not, even remember. In short, it's a highly functional and pleasant high - Perfect for daytime. It's also a powerful hammer to the cranium if you want to exist in a state of wonder and drool. She's tasty, productive, potent, versatile and unique. Oh, I forgot to add -The effect lasts about 2-3 hrs. Great fun to grow her too. Peace and love. :peace::Namaste:

Thank Canna! Your buds are looking FAT. :)

Many thanks for this smoke report, the Ace Panama sounds awesome. Looks beautiful in the photos too, much appreciated!

Glad to put it up here. Panama is awesome. I'm thinking of tossing my other bean of her, and I've got about a dozen clones I don't even know what to do with yet. :) The lemon has come back to the front after cure, and she's a heavy hitter too. I take one rip in the morning, and I'm good for a long time

Howdy CareStaker,
Thx for the in-depth report. It's useful to hear a cogent report of the grow in addition to the smoke report itself. Gratitude and respect.

I figure if there are some notes on what the strain grows like, :cheertwo: the next guy has a better chance of having a true representation of the strain. Glad you enjoyed Ranger! ::Namaste:

Beautiful!! Every way..buds, pics, report! TY!:)

Aww shucks, so pleased to hear, DrZ! She likes the Kit too, if you decide to run her. GT had that purple pheno that he ran, i'm sure you remember. I kinda miss her, she was cool to have around. Great day smoke. :thanks: :Namaste:

The Panama that I toked last year was the single smoothest and best tasting strain that I have ever encountered. Very pleasant effect and the earthy flavor reminded me of roasted sweet potato. Think I'll grow some. Thanks for the excellent description! I think that this strain deserves an organic grow in order to maximize the flavors and aromas, but it looks like it would be hard to grow it wrong. From the Seedsman site: "...Using an IBL F4 Panama Green and infusing pollen from an early flowering IBL F4 Neville's Haze, Ace Seeds specialists have created a very potent, almost psychedelic sativa with no characteristics from the early indica influence added to the Haze..."

Hey man if you want some more info on pure sativas check the landrace thread in my signature. A lot of experienced growers in there and you're gonna find a lot of good info.

Happy New Year To Everybody :passitleft:

Happy New Year! I don't think there's any Haze in ACE's Panama. I've seen that description before though, I believe it's just a misprint.

From ACE: "100 % sativa. Semi stabilized F8-F10 hybrid between 3 Panama sativa strains."

I've read that the three Panama are the Green, the '74 Panama Red, and a Colombian Punto Rojo...but I don't see it listed specifically anymore.

Ace Panama
================
Easy plant to grow. I veg'd for about 1 month, and did not train the plant. I just let her do her thing. She used very little nutes. I took her to 10 weeks 11/13, and then I chopped. It dried in about 3-4 days before I put it in the jars. Still burping for a few days.

The smell of the bud is LOUD lemony/skunky/Fuel smell. I have the Panama Green phenol (which is supposed to have the clearest high). When you break up the bud, the smell gets LOUDER!! I packed up my vaporizer, and put it on the lowest setting so I can get the smooth smoke. The taste was like "tart lemonade". No harsh taste at all. Medium thick smoke (for no cure and drying for 3 days). After a few tokes, I felt jolted with energy and awake and happy, and ready to take on the world!!! Great for daytime!! Energetic weed!!! I can only imagine how it will be after it cures a bit!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND ACE PANAMA!! Its a keeper for sure!!!

I have not over-indulged yet, so I'm not sure what would happen if I over do it on the Panama Toking, but I can't wait to find out!!! :thumb:
