A ViparSpectra KS3000, GroBucket SIPs, & FN Fertilizer, Oh My - By Farside05

Those buds are gonna be huge! Glad to see someone feels as I do about getting stem under your buds. Spears! And look how you’re fattening and frosting up. Nice work.

They stretched a bit more than I'd like. First time growing this strain so I didn't know what to expect.

Looking amazing in here farside, nice job! Do you find any issues with staking into the root ball like you did? I'm in 5 gallon sips right now and just ordered some stakes because things are getting a bit top heavy. I wasn't sure if I should be staking them in the bucket like you did, or if I should secure the stakes to the side of the bucket somehow.

If staking in the bucket doesn't hinder progress, I'll just do that!

First time I've had to stake in a SIP. This is my second SIP grow and the previous one had shorter and stockier plants. I've staked plenty of times though in fabric pots and don't see why it would be any different. I did try to keep the stakes a bit closer to the edge. When I put one stake in closer to the center I could feel that I hit the top of the "bowl" that forms the reservoir.

Sorry to jump in farside but this one’s easy, lol. Go for it! Stick those puppies in wherever it works. You can’t destroy your roots with a few stakes. One thing I do sometimes is, if the part of the stake I’m sticking in is not pointed I’ll whittle it to a point (I use bamboo for stakes). Goes in easier with less stress and worry. Just two cents for you!

Perfect, thanks for putting my mind at ease!

Thanks farside! I wondered about the top of the res and if your stakes were down the sides, so that's what I'll do too.

I was going to say, "Be careful when you put the stakes in & don't push down too hard or you will go through the top of the res like I did". Did that on my first SIP grow, so I know better now.... lol.

Another satisfied SIPster! Gorgeous plants Farside. Looks like the buds are growing sideways now. Nice work ViparSpectra! Hey FArside, Carcass seems to be having a decent experience using RealGrowers Grow Dots (long term nute like osmacote but cannabis-specific) I know you mostly mix your own but in case you want to really go on autopilot one day you could always hook up to an external rez, plant with Grow Dots and after the flip, and a trim, go for a month-long cruise. Ha! Gorgeous plants. Still smellin'up the place?

Osmocote used to have a product that would have been perfect for cannabis. More K and Ca than their other products. I can't seem to find any trace of it anymore on their site. Problem was it was only available in mass quantities and not on the retail side.

I don't really have room for a reservoir.

I'm not a cruise guy. Have zero desire. Now a luxury Caribbean all-inclusive, that's my jam. I've been to the Mexican Riviera 8 times and the Dominican once.

Gorgeous plants. Still smellin'up the place?

Thanks. The smell is glorious. No stink. Really sweet and more tropical fruit. It's been a long time since I had it, but I liken it to Hawaiian Punch.

Appreciate it!

Beast of a plant great work.:bravo:

Thanks. Y'all had a part in it. :)

Holy cow ViparSpectra has come a long way in ten years!

Not that the XS2000 that was in the tent prior was any slouch, but the KS3000 is a definite upgrade. The light is just so much more evenly spread. Strip lights are where it's at compared to the older style panels. Although the new lens design, like the XS1500 Pro has, shows some nice specs on paper.

This light, does it have detented brightness settings, or just anywhere the knob lands? I use a watt meter to control my 1kw KB's, although I'd like to get a controller ASAP, a three channel one so I can control the spectrum and automate. Are the Vipar LEDs distributed more densely on the ends and less so in the middle? This is a critical feature because as you know, you can only turn up a light as high as the hotspot will allow, meaning your effective photon flux is much, much less than the calculated one - unless you have this feature that evens the distribution very effectively and makes these bar lights untouchable....

Thanks for all you do!

To be honest, I don't recall off hand. I believe there are marks for 25, 50, 75, and 100%, but don't remember if it's a smooth dial or indexed at the different levels. Let me check when I get home and I'll get back to you on that.

Yes, the bars are not evenly spaced. They are more towards the outside edges of the fixture which gives it very even coverage instead of a hot spot in the center of the tent. I use a lux meter to check lighting and there's only about a 4% drop off in the corners compared to the middle. Compare that to the previous panel style XS2500 which could see up to a 45% decrease in the corners.

@ReservoirDog

It's not a smooth dial. It's indexed at each 25% mark.

Thanks for your introduction @farside05

@ReservoirDog XS1500 PRO uses a more reasonable lamp bead layout, in addition, coupled with a lens design, allowing a more even distribution of PPFD. Highly recommended~ :)

Day 96, Day 60 post flip

Closing in on 100 days above ground. They've been consistently green throughout. Often times I'll start seeing some discoloration this late in the game but so far so good. Could it be the tweaks I made in the FN Fertilizer v3™? Still a lot of white pistils. Although they had giant indica style leaves, I think these may run long like a sativa. The breeding is a 50/50 indica/sativa mix. Breeder says 67-80 days. If I recall right, it was about 12 days post flip when I would have considered flowering to have started, so about 48 days in. No way I see these finishing in 19 day. Probably more like the 80 than the 67.
