A Video Journal With Pigeons420 - 2016

That's too funny! I was thinking the exact same thing!! I'd love to have guests and explain what's new with the world of cannabis.

Boy oh boy do I dream!

Thanks for swinging in!

Man...you've really turned into a Video star! Another great job Pigeons :bravo:

If I did that bong hit I'd still be coughing.

Haha! I think that every one I watch. :laughtwo:

You guys make me feel like a champion when I take my hoots. Never thought anything of it. Although, my wife does tend to remind me:

"If you didn't smoke bowls for hoots we wouldn't go through so much."

And then I smoke to that!

:lot-o-toke:

I am here somewhere:volcano-smiley::adore::popcorn:

I watched your flush and happened to catch the plant was in a 7 gallon pot and you flushed her with about 10 gallons. I would suggest with a 7 gallon pot that you flush a minimum of 21 gallons of water through her in order to get the minimum 3:1 ratio though I personally do a 5:1 ratio when I flush. Like you I test the final flush water to get a PPM though I get a PPM from the 1st flush so I can see where I started and what I finished with. When doing a 5:1 flush normally the water I am testing is almost clear since the majority of salts and unused nutrients are no longer in the soil. The main reason I went with the 5:1 ratio was because after doing the 3:1 I still noticed quiet a bit of nutrients left in the soil and I wanted to get my medium down to as close to zero as possible so I would have a better understanding as to what nutrients were left in the soil/medium.
As far as your new "Sonny and Cher" variety show you are contemplating starting, may I suggest as opening guest stars for your world premier be "Cheech and Tommy Chong" Go big or go home :circle-of-love:

This is a great bit of information OG, as always thanks for looking out for a guy!

One thing though, I use to flush my plants right under the tap in my laundry sink until our town water became real harsh. Now I have to treat the water first. When I was doing this under the tap I was noticing that a 2:1 ratio was getting a significant portion of those nutrients out (down to 300ppm which is what my water comes out of the tap at) That's what led me to do the 2:1.

So, this begs the question, why do we require different amounts? Our mediums? Nutrients? Watering techniques?(I know when I water I make a big mess and least 50% of the water will come out. Perhaps I do mini flushes every water??).

Now when I do a flush for a final product, I repeat that process of flushing 2-3 times over 2-3 weeks.

Thanks for poppin by big guy!

:high-five:

I am a firm believer if it works for you, do not F... with it. If a 2:1 ratio does you good then by all means stick with that. In all the literature I have read though on flushing they suggest a 3:1 but like you, I do not follow their recommendations, I find I personally prefer 5:1 because that seems to work well for me. I normally grow in 7 gallon pots as well and believe me, I do not have the capacity to have 35 gallons of pretreated water handy for flushing so what I do is the 1st 7 gallons are treated water, the next 21 gallons are straight from the tap, then the last 7 gallons are treated. And yes it makes for a heck of a mess in the shower, and if the wife knew I was using her shower to do it in, she would have my hide
As for medium, we both are using soil though I use FF which I see you don't, I also use FF nutrients though with my last grow I did not follow their feeding schedule like I did on the 1st, plus I added more cal/mag and Armor Si. Not really sure if that would make any kind of difference. Like you I always water till I have run off though when I 1st get run off I allow it to sit for 10 minutes to wick back into the pot, then continue to water till nothing wicks back up then remove what did not wick back into the pot. This step would be the only step I see where we differ and could potentially cause me to require a larger flush to get all the excess salts and nutrients out of my soil.

But as I said in the beginning, if it works for you, don't F... with it.

Keep the videos coming, they are very enjoyable

Great info my man! I think the point here is the same. Flushing is important, regardless of the amount of water, as long as your getting a positive effect.
The key is to keep an eye on it and keep a measurement on the PPM or EC of your run off. Keep Em healthy!!

I had to buy me some hemp wicks. I have "keeping up with the Jones-es syndrome".

Hell yes!!

But Jim this has nothing to do with keeping up with the Jones'

I spend too much damn time in the real world doing this. This is a Jones free area!

Great update, however, I'd like to see you keep more leaf mass till harvest. Looking good my man.

Cheers
